By the time the public sees one, they have been looking at it on the screen and in prototypes for literally years. The first show inevitably follows a last-minute thrash to ensure everything is perfect so my guess is nearly everyone on the Ducati side at that point while hopeful of a positive reception, is also tired and thankful when it is over. In my experience the primary engineers understand the strengths (and most importantly weaknesses) of their design compared to the competition. Nothing is ever perfect, they are already thinking of ways to improve what is before them. In that way it is a somewhat humble exercise (the debut and the press activity) as they know it can and will be improved. What might seem dispassionate could also just be reservation or perhaps quiet confidence. Leave it to the marketing types or CEO to get up and shout and dance how wonderful the new bike is...

This is typical Italian employee in this field of work, there's so much passion for what they do. Basically you have to be excited for the projects you work on, otherwise you lose that spice that makes Italian bikes so special. Of course this spice is also what makes them sometimes compromise in areas for the sake of sticking to their visions, but that's where the passion lies. They always want to make something exciting, regardless if its the design or engineering teams.

I don't understand why they call it a middleweight with 955cc's. You're basically looking at a liter bike with less power. I'm doubting any racing association would even consider allowing it in the 600'cc class. For the street, it's fine. However, if you want to race it, chances are you'll be thrown in with super bikes at a major disadvantage.

I jumped to a 1299 S a few bikes later and I love my bike, but it has so much power it can only be used on a track properly. Anyway, my point was the RSV4 and RC51 were great all around bikes you could really run hard on the road and track.

But you didn't...If you did this in person to me or someone else most likely they are going to call you out on it. It's easy to be rude behind a keyboard. When I see someone make a mistake on any forum or YT channel, I ask for clarification then offer help. I'm not snide and accusatory. I'm sure you don't speak this way in person to a stranger, you wouldn't last long without a lesson, unless you're a child. This. This simple feature, I can not grasp why Ducati are so biblically against it on most of their bikes. They have it on even the old Multistradas from early 2000s, but they fail to incorporate it into any other bike they produce. Why?? I have literally gone over so many Ducatis I want to buy, but the lack of that one feature puts me off every damn time. As someone who wants to do trips on the fly and not care about trying to set trip meters and hope I can match it with finding a gas station at the right time etc, it's just too much of a hassle. It's a cheap feature that just works really well, I have no idea why they can't just put it into their bikes. Because it will add like 300 grams? One extra piece of wiring? It's so dumb.

That’s ridiculous. Maybe the R model is a track bike, but anything else is to be considered a fancier street bike with some track intent. Having said that. You’re shelling a lot more money than a Honda. And a gas gauge would cost the manufacturer maybe 100$ which they offer on other DUCs anyways. I already do the reset on my mileage, but it seems kind of lazy for a super expensive super sport not to have a gas gauge.

@@votpavel "This is not a bike you should take trips on" that's a dumb statement.. What do you even know of that? It's still a road bike before a race bike, especially the V2 model. A trip doesn't have to be 1000+ miles roadtrip, but simply going somewhere you haven't been before - and here it's nice to know exactly how your fuel situation is when you are in a less familiar area. Especially with a bike like that, where fuel range can go up and down heavily depending on how hard you are riding, you often can't just rely on trip calculation alone. It forces you to be super conservative all the time, and it can become a serious turnoff to adventurous riding, which a lot of people enjoy on sportsbikes as well as touring and nakeds.

@@CoFRTheGamerXxX It's honestly inexcusable and the only reason they can get away with it (sort of), is because they know a lot of their core clientele will buy their bikes regardless. But I bet there are a lot of people like you and me who would be much more inclined to actually get a Ducati (old in my case or probably new in your case?), if these basic ease-of-life features were implemented. It's seriously one of the most basic and cheap features that offers the most value for the money, and it should be on every bike. Second is gear indicator, however this is easier to live without as you grow accustomed to the bike over time.
