I have a Troll Supertwin. It was one of the proposed designs for the 4th gen 900ss I believe. Beautiful bike.

The most objective review so far is by MCN, 44teeth comes in close second. As a KTM owner I'm not impressed, but hey, at least there is competition now. The first company who makes a road legal, sub 150kg wet 450 SM with 60+ HP, quality suspension and brakes, etc gets my money.

@@paulhawkins6415 Those have track bike maintenance and rare parts. Aprilia coming out with new SXV would be nice but never happen and even if did it wouldn't be special as end up being for the A2 market where can't have a decent power to weight ratio.

my huski 701 gained 10 hp and 12 nm all the way trough midrange after airfilter/exhaust/dyno . im looking forward to the first hyper i come acros on track hehe

You will get a very nice view of the tail light

Not everybody can thrash a motorcycle like you. Anti wheelie is good for us less experienced riders that don't want a sudden fright. Sounds pretty good for a single.

I remember riding to the Mesa in Koln , where they unveiled the Supermono. Wow! So beautiful in its simplicity, blew me away . Really like look of this 698 . 👍👍😊

I'm glad Ducati brought this bike, I love it. Some great tech features included for a beginner like myself. It looks very nice with the double Termignoni's, mint I would still prefer the Husky tbf.

@@kylejf9059 I watch a lot of other people but the majority, including MCN more and more frequently nowadays, just read off of spreadsheets and talk about generic things "like yea it handles well, yea it wheelies well, yea it's smooth, nothing of substance. 44T here has made very important comparisons to the 690/701 platform, whereas Chris Northover truly explored what this bike can do with how it holds and wheelie, to how it holds a slide, most of the other reviewers only mentioned these things.

Awesome video. I'm still a bit peeved Ducati announced the 698 2 months after I bought a brand new Hypermotard 950. I think I would have preferred the 698 for the lightness and playfulness. Still love my HM though, don't get me wrong.

Maybe they will do something about that embarrassing dash? Also my SMCR was real bad about false neutrals for awhile. The rear preload needs to be easier to adjust .

If you're talking about the cables over the dash, they do that for the fork travel. All supermotos, dual sports, enduros and so on are like that

Aprilia should bring back the 550 SXV. It was mental and the service intervals reflected that, but I really wish I hadn't sold mine.

It's crazy that you dont get blipper and quickshifter on the regular version lol. The austrian bike comes with al those goodies right out the factory. Im in love with my 690 ;)

Yamaha XT660X has also dual exhaust

I have the Austrian equivalent and with only 2300 miles on it (and meticulously maintained), the engine has recently shat itself. Did you get the feeling the Hyper would last the distance as your little blat has got me tempted?

I´ve heard lots of those stories about KTMs while my 2011 Monster is closing in on 40.000km. Ducati have improved their engine durabilities significantly. Go for it!

Ducati make 2 of the 4 or 5 bikes that I would part my own money with at the moment... The monster is an amazing bike, and in the sweet spot with size and power etc, and the quick shifter is also amazing. ( it does run very hot though, so I couldn't have bought one as my only bike) I wonder how hot this thing runs?

OC: I'm more of an adv rider, so I'd go adventure. However, the smt makes a strong case if I was adding more bikes to the stable for different purposes.

What will they do next? Take a V4 split in half and end up with a P2?

Front brake line and probably speedo sensor wiring. They tend to be super long and looped over like that on sm and mx bikes due to the long travel suspension and lack of places to hide it.

The 698 is about $10,000 more expensive than a yearly run out KTM 690 SMCR here in Aus. The glaring question for me is: Is it actually $10,000 better? Especially given if you want the wheelie assist from Ducati you have to add in the Termi Exhaust which is an almost $5,000 AUD option. That's a $30,000 bike. I'm just not seeing the value.

Can you put nobblies on it and take it off road?

I’ve got to ask, how do you think the bike would have handled in the wet with Michelin Road 6’s fitted. Those Italian tyres don’t have a great reputation for wet rides.

Sssst Michelin is French. Road 6 is supported to be rather good in the wet.

Single tech has certainly moved on since the days of my old KTM 640 DUKE 2.

Another great video, which would you say gave you more fun, this Ducati or the ktm 1390 superduke the other day. I had a ktm 950 sm years ago and have had quite a few bikes since then but still haven't found one which has made me smile as much as that old 950 did. My last bike was a rsv4 factory which was mental for the road and fast as fuck but still didnt give me the fun factor I have been looking for.

Singles are the sweet spot on back roads my 690 is great fun

On my 3rd 690smcr !! Have a love/hate relationship with them . There’s a great bike in there for sure but the way they are fuelled with euro5 is pretty poor and ktm don’t seem to care !! Shouldn’t be up to the owner to have to make a new bike run properly !! If Ducati launched this new Mono in the same state of tune as the ktm they’d get slated 😬 Good on Ducati for producing a properly sorted bike . Maybe it’ll give ktm the push to sort there bikes a bit better !! I imagine Ducati have an Sp version ready to go 👍👍👍 That’s what I’d be wanting 😊

And it has a LED light in front compared to KTM's candle liight. Probably no extra neutrals like the KTM? and a seat that one can actually sit on and not destroy the ass? And no need to add Fuel dongle etc? Can you tell I'm real tired of the KTM 690 smc :D

I can see an explosive future for that engine and a whole lot of engine warning lights.😅

Can get new 23 plate 690 smcr for 8k. New exhaust, fuel dongle and other bits for less than 10k. I know what I would do. Ducati is lovely but you can get a Street Triple RS for similar money ffs.
