Kya phone ka box rakh skte ha bag me ?
VAT refund is 85% of 5% which is around 4.25% but they also charge a flat 4.8 AED per invoice so the total refund comes out to be less than 4%. It's advicable to get a single invoice if you are planning to purchase items like gold jewellery and phones from a single shop. You should not get the refund in your card. Your bank will charge 3 to 3.5% for inward remittance and they will also offer you shitty exchange rate. If you ask the forex guys in Dubai to do the conversion for you and send amount in INR then also you will get shitty rates. The best way to get the refund is to get cash in AED and then convert them at good foreign exchange in India for example Orient exchange in Delhi which offer very good exchange rate. If the amount of refund is less (say 1000 AED or less) then you can just keep the cash and give it to someone travelling to UAE, on face value. Indians are obsessed with UAE and you can easily find friends/family who are planning to visit Dubai in near future.

I had a question on duty fee on gifts sent to india by post. So the Mumbai Customs FAQ page says that gifts below Rs 10,000 are free from duty charges while Central Board Of Indian Taxes And Customs says Rs 5,000. Can you please confirm if the custom free service is on gifts valued below Rs 10,000 or below Rs 5,000.

You can keep the bill. You can even keep the empty box. It's not a crime to buy iphone for personal use from UAE. You do not have to pay customs duty if you are already using the product. No one will stop you if your iphone is out of box. They may ask you to unlock the phone just to make sure that you have already set it up and have started using it.
