Bought mine in '85. installed a Sumiko Blue Point Special EVO lll. Sounds great and has given me zero problems. Of course running with Conrad Johnson PV5 tube pre also helps the sound immensely.

I have owned 5 of these and they are awesome they sound great easy to repair if you have the ability . Some people are just not smart enough to how they work. The tone arm is a bit finicky.

this repair was really great, congratulations ! fortunatly my CS5000 did not make so many troubles until now. It works good with an ortofon OM 40 , for MC systems th arm is not good enough. sorry foe my english, best regaeds from vna, karl

I had one too. Loved the sleek design with walnut veneer but it was a pain in the ass to handle. The older Duals CS 721 (fully automatic direct drive) and CS 704 (semi-automatic direct drive) from my dad still run today without any issues. A little greese and replacing some wear parts once every couple of decades and I guess they´ll live another 45 years (if someone will still listen to records then).

You can cue the arm up/down by pressing the current speed button.

Yes - found that out quite a bit later.

I have the successor to this, the CS-750 Overall I love this table, especially given the fact I fdound it for 30€ at a second hand store, but my main gripe is the lack of speed adjust controls. Even though it's a "quartz-locked" belt drive, it is running ever so slightly slow (~32.94RPM) and there is no easy way to fix this.

I have similar Dual Golden One CS7000 and there should be a short pin (25mm or so) under the lift assembly. Or if you didn’t remember to put the lever under of it to the right position, the lifting mechanism doesn’t work. You can adjust the distance between the stylus and vinyl by screwing the small screw. I have problems with my tonearm bearing system as somebody has dropped something to it and some kind of part of the bearing is missing.

Thank-you, the pin is indeed there. The arm lift really isn't necessary as pressing either speed button will lift and drop the tonearm.

I just purchased the CS5000 and love it, but it did not come with a cover or hinges. Any idea on where I can get the dust cover and hinges?

Yep. A Dual 505-2 looks similar and is much more reliable.

Hello, I have Dual CS5000 and it’s not turning on. I am from NYC area. Does anyone know in this area to repair it ?

DUAL tables - I restore them constantly. The biggest weakness that they all have in common is the cue design. It does not matter what style. 701, 1229, 502, 604....the cue is always terrible and even worse if some pleb has messed with it.

Thanks for this video. I just bought one of this TT coupled with an Auditechnica at-vm95e cartidge - balck stylus - already adjusted. I can't figure out how to set properly the antiksating, seems to not work. I set again the traking force and I cheked precisely the weight with a precision balance. Then I set the traking force with that kind of a screw accorind to the traking force, but when I test the TT with a CD (I don't have a plain vinyl) the arm don't ramain in place and goes at center stopping the motor. Can you test this? What can I do? Thanks for the answer.

Just set the antiskate at the same number as the tracking force and don't worry about it.

Sellers who price gauge on tt parts should be flogged. They’re basically screwing over their own people who are trying to save vintage units.

Those take to long to needle drop. Wish easy way to make it manual.

From what I've read, the location of the electronics can be problematic as it's possible for them to cause interference in the cartridge. No personal experience though.

I don't hear any hum as the tonearm travels across the record, plus the platter is shielded, so I don't think that is an issue.

I'd say just about any Rega is the most overrated turntable ever. The 5000 is definitely a love-hate kind of unit.
