To wear a Vostok is to wear a watch that is unique and relatively uncommon. They are individual in style, not a homage to other famous brands. Thats why Im happy to wear my Amfibia☘

As for the lume... Guys, have you ever looked at the lume for more than 5 minutes straight? Even seiko fades out significally after 3 or so minutes. After that the lume is irrelivant unless you are not an office desk diver.

I'm a huge fan of Vostoks and have a mini-collection of six Amphibias & Komandirskies. I've regulated all of mine to be within +10 a day, and that's good enough for me. I really love the look of this, it's quite unique, and in addition to the lumed second bezel, is the 120-click outer bezel, a special treat for Vostok fans. The GMT function would come in handy, and I'd love to add a shark mesh bracelet!

I got a $40 Vosatok Comandarsiki on eBay and a $3. silicone deployment 18mm strap on Amazon. It's my everyday watch and I usually wind it in the morning and at night. Keeps great time and great water resistance.

Very good review and very informative, I now have 3 Vostok watches including this model. Vostok is known for its ruggedness and its basic but very effective atmospheric pressure depths.. Please note: In order to advance the date very quickly is to turn clockwise the hour hand pass midnight then turn back the hour hand anti clockwise to 8pm and again advance the hour hand clockwise pass midnight.. Keep on repeating this until you get the desired date..

I'm beginning to think that these Vostoks are defined by their quirkiness. I just reviewed my Vostok Komandirskie with a 24 hours dial. Theses are unique and affordable timepieces that really deserve recognition. They offer a lot for your money but they are by no means perfect watches. I think some day someone at Vostok would wake up and realize they could be charging more for their watches. Great review Shane!

I've been waiting for a review on these. I totally agree with your appraisal of the lume, but I am a Vostok fan, so there's plenty for me to like with this one too. The leather strap looks great on it, and I've seen some recent reviews on Vostok where the bracelets (especially mesh one) have stepped up their game as well. As a value proposition it is priced well, as all Amphibias are. This looks like a great adventure travel watch, that you can bash about and get wet, without stressing too much, if you scratch or lose it. Thanks for the review Shane.

I have one of these and it is easily my favourite watch in a fairly diverse collection. Let's face it you either love Vostoks or you don't. Yes they are "inaccurate," but then it depends on what you presuppose a watch is for. I tend to the opinion that their primary function is to measure out intervals of time rather than be beholden to GMT etc.and this does this perfectly. This is the best value mechanical travel watch i can imagine - in fact I am going to buy the other color . BTW love your reviews - keep them coming fella. Great stuff.

I'm waiting for this watch to become available myself. I have actually been successful at selling Восток watches and regulating them for my customers. It's very easy and they stay in regulation very well. I think Восток keeps their prices down by having a good enough attitude. I have not really found watches that are this durable and perform this well for the same price. I have Seikos of course but every day I wear a Восток, I only have trouble choosing which one, LOL.

Size wise it's not too bad, just tall. In fact all Vostoks seem a bit tall to me. For the old school ones that's usually because of the domed polymer crystal.

The fast fading lume is not an issue when diving in deeper, darker waters. Any diver in those circumstances carries a flashlight. You just hit the lume with the flashlight once in a while for better readability. I think this watch looks gorgeous. I would prefer the writing on the dial in Russian. "Made in Russia" just sounds a bit unreal to me.

Definitely more than great of other Vostok I have ever seen before and I really like the way you narrated to explain things.👌 I think your voice is unique, also the tone, volume level you "put" in this video when you speak, somehow it makes me feel so calm. Especially the instrumental music as opening in the beginning of this video. Could you give me the title or the link of that opening/back ground music...? I like it so much, thank you for all. 🙏

Hello. Thank you for the video and lum test. I own a Vostok Amfibia Turbina and I enjoy it fairly much. I also own a Komandirskie. Like you said, there is no quick date set on either of them and to me that's my only issue. But on the other hand, you can't damage the movement by changing the date "at midnight" by accident. I would love to see your opinion on that watch if you ever get it. Thanks.

I just bought two of the field watches they sell for $49. with shipping. A tank and submarine version. Tank version is the gold color and I bought them because of how unique they are and Just one more watch had a video on the gold one and I loved it. I have collected watches my whole life and didn't realize I was a collector until I found a few boxes spring cleaning that my late wife had given me, but once batteries died, I just went onto the next like a lot of people do. I found a Tag Huer my late father in law bought me, a Timex Expedition that was from the 70's and still like new and new batteries and both works great. I bought a watch tool kit and did all the work myself. I found a couple of Fossils my late wife bought me and some vintage watches my parents bought me, a Helbros 87601x quartz and Timber Creek Eversteel. I bought a watch box after I realized I could easily fill a 12 piece box with watches from the past. A Lucien Picard my daughter bought me and a Elina Bacardi I bought on sale at a Golfsmith bankruptcy sale that's a automatic dive watch. I have a Micky Mouse watch I bought at Disney in 2011 as a souvenir. I didn't realize all of this until I bought a Diesel Rasp at the Fossil factory store in North Myrtle beach in February and was home 13 weeks on a work injury. Since then I bought 2 more Diesel watches, a Mega Chief and a Mr Daddy 2.0 I got for $100 each onsale on Amazon, which normally are $275 or more each at my local Belks department store. I have an almost 8" wrist at 7 3/4", so bigger watches look better to me in my opinion. I also bought a Orient Bambino Gen 4 in blue which is my favorite. I also bought a Timex weekender 40mm and a Mod 44 . I am a bargain hunter and liked these. I also bought a Casio Edifice efv-530d for less than $60 onsale on Amazon and love it. Seeing this watch makes me want to finish my last watch buy for awhile and get this. I don't have a GMT and think this is perfect. I just subscribed since this is the first vlog ai seen of you. Great education you give of the brand and I am a fan of these watches. Rolex and Omega have nothing on the quirky style these watches have

This is a cool watch. What I would like to see is a lumed-ceramic bezel (perhaps with lume of a different color than the internal bezel-- coordinated with the minute hand while the GMT hand should remain lumed with the same color as the internal bezel). Of course the absence of a quickset date: GRRR. The only watch winder I own is for my classic Amphibia because of the date.

  • @RelativeTime

    @RelativeTime

    3 жыл бұрын

Nor 100% sure, but I would think so. Even if you don't regulate the watch, opening it up potentially disrupts the placement of the water proof seals. So if something were to happen and you try to return it, I could see them not accepting it.

I loved Vostok and have 3 but one of them is a 920 dial. The markers aren't correctly positioned on the dial and it's been hard to take the brand seriously since that purchase. These are better quality and more attractive IMO but with the lack of Cyrillic on the dial it loses the Red Army charm of the Amphibia Classics. I do like these and have been considering one for a while now, not a deal breaker but I would've preferred a distinctly Russian watch.

My Vostok is very accurate, maybe I was lucky. The date can be changed by moving one day forward, get the minutes back 1/4 or so and move forward again to change to the next day. No needed to be full cycle.

Awesome video! Just ordered one myself, I had an amphibia and didn't like all it's quirks like the flimsy crown. But this one seems like a solid watch. Do you know the bezel insert size? I'm thinking about changing it, maybe it's the same size as the Skx.

I would argue, gaining time per day, whether it's 40 sec or what, is certainly better than losing time, especially f one is actually wearing a watch to tell the time and not be late for appointments. Personally, I set all of my watches, all 2 of them LOL to 5-6min early just to make sure i give myself that leeway for appointments LOL. Thanks for showing, it's an interesting watch from them. I do prefer their turbina model though, floppy crown or not LOL!

I really like this one. It probably wouldn't be a daily wear so I would have to reset the time every week or two so the accuracy isn't going to kill me.

Honestly, for $140 watch, you really get a lot. I'd be tempted to buy this if I didn't just buy a diver GMT. Do you have any experience with the Le Jour Seacolt or any knowledge of that line?

I know this has been posted 18 months ago, but..... This is a great looking watch for sure, and I even like the GMT complication, but I am not sure if I like it being in English, or that it has a typical screw down back, even tho every other non-Vostok I own is the same. If it comes from Vostok I probably shouldn't care about the language, but I sort of feel that they are moving away from their roots? Some may say this is a good thing - but I am not sure? Food for thought, and lots of other model to select from. Thanks for a great review. Cheers.

One thing I’ve noticed with my amphibia, both normal and lume dial is the lume seems to improve in performance after a period of use, no idea if it’s actual or subjective but definitely seems to improve and perform better than it did out of the box

LOL, I'd been debating over the last month with myself whether to buy this watch or not, at that time there were 8 left on meranom (the blue model, the black one already sold out); as soon as this video came out I went immediately to buy one, I knew they were gonna sell out soon. Lo and behold, a couple of days later it's sold out :) One thing that comes to mind, surely you could replace the bezel insert with one with a better lume that would fit? One could also hope for aftermarket dials which would fit better - although that's probably unlikely. PS. you can still find a black one and a blue one on ebay I think, but they're pricier. PPS. Huh, just a couple of hours after writing this I go to check again at meranom and they have re-stocked both the black and the blue models, as well as that model with the fully lumed dial.

Thanks and welcome. This one is really cool and really different. So I think I would say I'd recommend it if you already like Vostoks. As you would already know what I mean about lume and the accuracy. If you haven't experienced a Vostok then it's still cool. Just know there are some shortcomings before you get into it. I know a lot of other channels always say they recomend stuff or don't. I try not to do that too often as I think it waters down the meaning. Usually I just present the good and the bad and let you make up your mind. But on the occasions I really say that I recommend something, you know I really mean it and like it.

I can regulate the time myself, I've regulated all on my watches. I do wish Vostok would add hacking to the movement and give us some better lume, they could do this and easily charge 20 or 30 dollars more per watch and they'd continue to sell like crazy.

Great review. Would you happen to know whether or not the bezel assembly is stainless or is it plated brass? I'm thinking about buying the 080495, which is the non GMT no date version, however, I do not like the polished bezel and would like to brush it, which of course won't be possible if the bezel is plated brass. Thanks.
