    OMG! I trust your tastebuds. So…I will not waste my time in going there. The Char Siu Bao’s topping & with your description (texture), it seemed very much like the Mexican conchas (sweet bun). This, I wouldn’t mind to try. Blessings. 🥰😻🐶🙏🕉☮️❤️.

    i been there twice, it was not as bad as you describe. It is different than the traditional Cantonese food for sure. The dessert is very good you should try. 佢個甜品係有個雞仔餅成分嘅加雪糕好好味。味道的確係比較重一些。

    The celebrity chef/owner - Eric Chong (first season masterchef canada winner) is planning to open another restaurant on Colborne st in 2024 besides piano piano....this is going to be very interesting. I personally have not been to R&D, but I do enjoy this video.

    深表同情, 你們竟吃了一餐 "mark up" 那麼高的"呃老番" 的 fusion 菜。其實曾经聽過這餐館的大名, 並想日後找一天慕名而去。從片上看見那海南雞飯賣相已不敢恭維, 數樣食物都是鹹,鹹及鹹亦使我卻步。多謝妳倆使我能慳了時間及金錢, 可謂感激不盡。👍

    呢間餐廳比我感覺係 "創新“ 變咗 "亂來",賣相唔講啦,但做法沒有將食品味道提升,反而弄巧反拙。 最貴係碟青豆,份量少,完全冇乜得別之處,啲臘腸唔知係咩嚟,最特別就係佢特別唔好食。

    喜欢广式的烧鸭烧鹅, 去年光顾了这间据说鸭子做的最好的餐厅, 谁知要预定, 没得吃. 试了两三个菜, 现在完全不记得点了什么, 也不能说很难吃, 就是每道菜都感觉很怪, 对了, 有一道brussed sprout, 很干, 有点焦糊.

    The weirdness of some is these dishes (ie mushroom insense) scream Alvin Leung's style. Too bad the taste doesn't live up to the pretention. It's also owned by O&B so I'm not surprised the Asian flavors are muted or one note.

    多謝分享, 以前聽過此食館名字, 還想日後慕名而去, 幾樣都是 "咸、咸、咸" 的形容已不太喜歡。雖然我愛 fusion, 但都要適可而止而且 Mark-up 似乎高一點。就看那海南雞飯, 賣相一點也不吸引 .... 我相信我的口味會跟你們的接近, 即是說我可以慳番餐不用去那嘗試了。

    In their defence, the menu does not say Peking Duck. "Pekin" duck is a breed of duck. So probably better if you step away from the idea of 片皮鴨。But I have never went there before. So cannot comment on actual taste.

    The presentation itself is mimicking Peking Duck for sure. Even if we don't judge it as a Peking Duck, the taste wasn't great at all due to the aged process.

    I have been there many years ago. It’s really to scan western people or foreigners. Their laksa noodle is salty and weird. I like fusion and am willing to try new food. However, innovation for the sake of it is just an insult to the original dish.

    佢用雞胸肉應該係遷就西人食客(佢哋喜歡食白肉)。卷起一條肉然後慢煮,工夫是有的,可惜口感腍pat pat又冇乜雞味…完全同海南雞無關。加上熟唔透嘅飯… 唉…

    Quite the eye opener: Peking duck cured? No crispy skin! The thick wrap is disgusting! I would never have guessed : Hainan chicken rice???🥵 N they have the nerve putting the 3 sticks on fried rice, I'm pretty sure the chef is not Chinese 🙄 I always think that chefs who used salt liberally are lacking culinary skills, using excessive condiments to compensate I give u credit chumping down uncooked rice...有衣食😊 Better luck next time😂 Thank u for this agonizing venture!

    I have been there. Eric Chong is one of the owners and first Canadian Master chef, learned chinese cooking from his grand-father. The food is not bad: as someone here said: dont use traditional HK style as the yardstick to judge. They never promise that kind of taste at R&D. Fusion in their own way. You want the traditional HK style, should not go there. Go to those high-class restaurants in Richmond Hill or Markham - not even in those in Scarborough (cantonese from mainline china). In short, don't expect replication of traditional HK style (which i sense from your comments). Unrealistic. Regardless of price: cheap, expensive or free. wrong place chosen. They don;t advertise that style

    I totally agree with you. Fusion Chinese can be done much better with taste and creativity, and we were not looking at traditional Chinese cuisine styles here. Our comments were around the taste of the dishes itself. We appreciate places such as DaiLo and Mimi, they demonstrate great culinary skills and creativity. Sorry but not R&D.

    If the place is making good food in general but one or two dishes were not as good, I would say it bcos I know I will come back another time and hope to see improvements. But if the majority is bad, and it seems the place is still supported by a large number of clientele, then we know for sure it is the type of food not to our taste but welcomed by others. I don't want to say anything because I am not coming back anyway.

    我哋每次探店都會叫4至6人份量不同菜式,盡量cover菜單上不同系列嘅項目,咁先可以話好食定唔好食。否則,一兩種食物不能作準。

    咁做法,做壞中國菜嘅名聲噃。d 外國人以為中餐就係咁咪死? 老實講,睇咁耐,如果呢d食物都可以係downtown 賣咁貴,我諗我落去開番間即刻成為名廚。

    中餐Fusion 要嗰位廚師將食材同埋創意發揮得好好先會好食。 如果以 fusion Chinese 來講,R&D 絕對係冇廚藝可言,而創意方面就有嘅,但反而令到本身嘅菜式變得唔好味。 佢好好生意嘅,有人喜歡便可。

    除咗某幾間嘅燒臘舖之外,我對所有喺大多倫多,大溫哥華同埋卡加利,任何形式嘅中餐都已經完全徹底失望。 唔肚痾已經喺好好彩㗎喇,仲想喺外國嘅中式食市搵良心食店咁天真?唔係吓嘩?你哋冇朋友提醒過你哋?如果係自己要犯賤嘅就唔好怪責其他人! 後補 原來你哋已經拍咗咁多條片 ,咁似乎你哋真係自己攞嚟衰嗰喎,點解犯賤咗咁耐都唔停手呀?仲繼續去試?仲有希望?對自己好啲啦,唔好再搵喇,除非你想呃like啦。
