I ran into a problem like that doing Richardson hats and my solution was to double up my tear away stabilizer, and it really made a huge difference. I also doubled up my backing on some pretty thin flimsy visors, and that also helps with the registration.

if we're removing the machine and digitizing from the list of culprits, the remaining options are Hooping or Stabilizer. I'd take a note of how tightly/neatly you're clipping the hats to the frames. I always used used two layers of tearaway stabilizer inside hats. (one large piece folded in half, and tucked in where the hat front is peeled open and wedged in.) Goodluck. Also, I'm having trouble seeing, but that writing on the front of the hats looks crooked to me. But that could just be the way you're holding the hats to the camera.

Hi Brittany. I use post it notes and stick them on the monitor to remind me for things like check thread it is low or check bobbin. It helps. I pull out those threads where registration is off, with a seam ripper. I would double up tear away. Love watching your videos!

Good to note the heat tape. I hadn't thought of that but it does make sense. The hats - I would think it is the hooping as it is the only thing that is a factor changed with each hat.

I would use cut-away because some of the embroidery has thin lines.

I double up Madeira's 2.5 cap tear-away or use 3.0 oz cap stabilizer from Madeira. You might also try to steam the hats before you hoop them. And finally, sometimes, I remove the center run underlay on the narrow areas.

Double up on tear away and make sure you hooped it correctly. That was my issue. The issue is how you’re hooping it.

That's good to know about the heat tape. I would tell TKO they gave you some bad transfers even though you had extra. I don't know about the hats because I've used structure hats so far. When I do large embroidery on hats, I don't clip the sides anymore because I notice it pulls the hat around and it might put the registry off.

I stopped ordering from TKO and was about to try them again, not now. Glad you were able to resolve. 😊

Did you adjust the tension for the hats? I find that sometimes after embroidering 3 or 4 things I literally have to adjust the tension. I don’t get it but could it be this?

Do you use a 75/11 needle and 40 wt thread on the small lettering? I’ve seen many embroiderers use a smaller needle and 60 wt thread for small letters. Just wondering.

I use 65 needle for my 60 weight thread. The smaller thread and needle really make a difference with that smaller font.

@@brittanybriggs3806 You can use 70 needles since those letters are not that small. The registration issue is because its an unstructured had and the top of the hat moves so you have to secure it with clipping the sides tight. when you do the trace you can see the movement of the hat.
