Bobbin tension for hats should be higher than for flats.
They told me in training a couple a weeks ago to have it low speed for hats too

You can'tsee the bobbin in the back of the letters. Looks like your bobbin is too tight. Tails come from top tension, is something I learn from toying with with it because ricoma could not help me with tail problems. If you are getting a lot of long tails just tighten the top tension. The problem with the M letter it was digitized poorly.
have I missed where you said why you keep your machine in a hot garage? I thought they were to kept inside with heat AC, etc..
