Oh man that’s awesome! I was wondering how those work! Thanks for sharing, too cool! 👍😃👍 Have a good day man!
I really like their kinetic ropes alot, they work awesome!!! I didn't see this set up when I ordered mine. Time to order one!!! You picked the best color!!🤘🤘
Groovy! Had to share this because of your sweet installation, always appreciate that ya'll never do anything sloppy.
Dsm works great on the light weight rig awesome!!
Love that tension retract. 👍🏼👍🏼
Just ordered mine in blue. Thanks Joe
That is a nice option. I think I’m going to have to get one for my honcho!
Awesome product! I installed the self recovery system on my sons trx4 and it works great! Super simple and gets the job done
I like the crimp idea or I was thinking glue it again and put the shrink wrap on and put glue down in the crevices between the wrap and the cord. Maybe thatll help it stay strong and hold.

Heck yes, Auto retract! Lol. I'm pretty sure I NEED a couple of these.
I own a good bit of DSM products. I recommend everyone to have at least one to have on hand.
Definitely the best of all DSM's great products. Ive already upgraded most of my rigs to the integrated system. The dual pulley option is a game changer too!
Winner Winner chicken dinner! I’ve installed sooo many winches, but don’t like to bog down the fun using them. This I will use. Thank you Bro!
Definitely ordering this system!! Smart idea. Definitely beats the price of a good winch and the weight of one . 👍👍👍
Wow that’s cool. Almost works better than a winch. Just make sure to stand back when using it and setting it. If that thing snaps and hits your hand or leg it would hurt with that metal hook. I might try one on my trx4
Just ordered mine from DSM. Thanks for great review.👍
That setup is awesome. Well done!
I've been making some bungee cords for my rigs using 1/8" cord and de-barbed fish hooks. I use a couple of inches of Malin Co. Aircraft Stainless Steel Lockwire .032" to bind the bungee to the hook by wrapping it around the bungee and the hook shank. Holds very well and might work for your hook too.
For mine, instead of just glue I used some serving string I have laying around for when I work on compound bows, very strong and thin, or you could use braided fishing string also, then a little glue and string tube. 👍🏼

I just made the smallest single-knot I could, and saturated it with superglue. Seems solid enough, though yours probably looks nicer. :]

Wow I'm definitely getting this for both my rigs, I've been thinking about getting a winch but this is so much faster and more convenient 👌👊
If that glue comes apart use a needle and thread and put a few loops around and through the line.
Yeah wrap it with fishing line and glue it good idea
that thang is awesome.
Awesome! I havnt been in the crawler scene long. I just found out about DSM a few months ago. I been slowly getting stuff ordered for them. I got a TRX4 Bronco that is probably going to get converted to this. TRX6 that will soon. Already put a regular self recovery on my sons TRX4 sport, and looking to possibly get this setup for my Capra once I find out what it can and cant do this summer.
I think I'm gonna get a bright yellow one to simulate a 'yank um rope' for my TRX4 Mats Off road recovery Jeep build.👍
theses can also be used as a snap strap you just hook it onto like a rock or a tree root and you hook up your winch to it and the kinetic energy will actually help you pull up a lot more
What good idea 👍
I think thats my stubby high mount bumper I uploaded to thingiverse. Thats awesome!
Awesome! that is even better than the Keeper thing. I put it on my Amazon wishlist. Thanks for sharing!

Just ordered one
Your right.....AWESOME
Awesome!!! 💪🔥
AWESOME video man. 🔥👍👍🔥💯🔥
Stop showing me stuff that I didn't know I need and want.
I love your truck even though I've got the same axles which my rear one ended up having mechanical failure to the point where it has broken one of the screw mounts that holds the bearing in I have snapped a hex pin and the crown and pinion would only go forward but not backwards and I'm pretty sure it probably failed due to after going through one to many swollen flash floods so now I'm up for a new axle housing new crown and pinion and some new hex pins
really nice
being able to reverse so easily with that...wow...
When I made mine I had the same problem with the loop coming undone. The trick is to make your loop. Then put your hook in a vise. Pinch the end of the line with vise grips. Stretch your loop then wrap and glue it. If you glue and wrap it without the line stretched. When it stretches it gets smaller and the glue doesn't hold. Good luck brother!!!

How does it compare to the gear keeper?
@ExocagedRC
4 жыл бұрын
This feels way stronger, gear keeper in some ways is more compact, however I’ve already killed a gear keeper internally from the dust and debris. This one being open seems more reliable.
Local scene i play they actually ban the usage of elastic rope. We use real servo winches or superwinch
@ExocagedRC
4 жыл бұрын
Yeah it depends on who is running the events. We allow it just like a normal or servo winch.
Search bow serving knots. It will work perfect for that
This is such an ingenious idea you dont have a 540can brushless system you are willing to trade for anything and I mean anything I have a complete trx4 radio and all very clean and runs great I just need a brushless for my scx10 3 I justordered
Is it wrapped around the pulleys to help pull the rear end up? Is this better than or does it just another option in place of a winch?
These are cool
Love it. I want. Lol
Maybe a drop of liquid nail. It's pretty cheap and works pretty well
Very cool
Like 🤩👍
That was amazing awesome lol
Wow!🔥💪🏼
Niiice!
Or maybe try using a bread tie to wrap up the end of that line with so it don't come undone again bud. Burn the plastic off of the wire first of course, or just use wire that strong and that small. It don't have to be a bread tie per say
Can you do this test with a heavier vehicle? My god, that was impressive. For the heatshrink, try one that has glue built in.
@DSMOffRoad
4 жыл бұрын
It works for heavier vehicles just not as well as it's all down to physics. Any glue joint will not work for that application. A mechanical fastener or proper knot is the only way to go.
Have you tested this on a gen 8 axe? I was wondering how it performs on a heavy truck like the axe.
I would recommend getting a crimp connector from the electrical department at ur local improvement store.
You can get heatshrink that has glue on the inside wall

We have added install guides to our website for the TRX-4, Gen8 and Element RC Enduro platforms in addition to the SCX10 and Wraith 1.9 trucks. dsmoffroad.com/pages/how-tos
You need to whip the line after you fold it over, it will never come loose.
Do you like this better then the gear keeper??
@ExocagedRC

Both are similar, but I’ve killed a gearkeeper due to debris getting inside it. I doubt that would be an issue with this setup.

He had to shorten the line up and wasn't sure the best way to go about it. He has an early release kit, they now include instructions with how to shorten the cords and reattach the hooks back onto them.
A servo winch with no servo.
Will it work with a Capra

Short answer, no. After tearing into the truck there just isn't an easy way to make this work without a lot of modification. Here's our suggestion for the Axial Capra: dsmoffroad.com/pages/axial-capra-recovery-options
