You have saved me hundreds of dollars. Most recently, my son dropped a pencil down the lint trap and it was stuck in the fan of the blower wheel. I followed your video and pulled it out myself. Thank You!

thank you steve! we had a big ball of cheerleader lint stuck in our lint filter housing! this is the result of neglect, as we've come to learn from our youtube friends at partselect. the venting system should be disassembled and serviced once a year. this is also the result of mandy letting the lint filter get too full and then when she pulls it out, the lint doesn't stick to the filter because it weighs too much and it falls down into the exhaust chute which leads to the blower wheel housing. there's only a four inch circular opening leading from the exhaust chute into the blower wheel housing and this ball of cheerleader shedding was more than enough to clog it and completely restrict the airflow. we saved $75 by not having to call a repairman and we also now have a convenient excuse to bitch at mandy and for her to feel unfairly mistreated. win-win.

Recently I heard some sort of snapping sound when I started my dryer and ever since then it has been louder and vibrates some too. I took it apart and the motor and drum pulleys are fine. When I took off the back I did not see a way to get to the blower itself so I just reassembled it until I could figure out how to gain access. Had I watched this first I would have seen I was only four screws away. Oh well...be prepared next time. The good news is I can just remove the back now and those four screws and inspect the blower fan which I suspect is either clogged with lint or has a broken blade - which is my guess due to the sound I heard. I think something must have fallen into the screen duct and the blower was damaged. At least now I know what needs to be done. Great job. Easy to understand and follow.

Need to explain why you’re taking that off is it for a loud noise or what’s it for?

Just for everyone's benefit, for older dryers it is normally difficult to remove the motor. With the wrench approach showed in this video it will typically strip/round out the plastic piece that the wrench sits on. If this happens, take a dremel and drill a circle around the center of the fan. You will need a new fan assembly but it will save you some time.

Wish I read your comment before attempting this because mine has permanently stuck itself on the old motor. Be ordering a new one now.

Good video...but you need to edit...you didn't show to reconnect the motor rear clip nor to show to finish tighten the fan to motor
