I slept better with alcohol because it helped my anxiety. But I don’t miss the mental stuff and the regretful things alc made me think and it’s hard to deal with life without alcohol for me, due to sensitivity. It’s a struggle to learn how to manage emotional pain without the alcohol but I am learning to process it in other ways… eft Tapping … etc

Giving a medal for not getting sloshed every night. Typical of the new generations.

I mentioned online that I decided when I was young and starting a family that I didn't want my kids to grow up thinking drinking alcohol was normal or good for them or even expected. I have a lot of heavy drinkers in my family who think I'm just cheap and boring. So I haven't had alcohol in over 20 years, don't miss it, don't care, and don't let other people drink in my home either. So I make my comment and got accused of having a drinking problem, no self control, and of being a "dry alcoholic", which I had never even heard of. Over the years I have had a couple of concerned looks from people when I say, "no thanks I don't drink," because I guess it's too hard to believe some people simply don't drink unless they are in recovery.

Good for you! I can tell you as a kid growing up in a household where my parents didnt drink (maybe once in a blue moon) I don't drink either. It was so normalized in my home that I never really cared for it when I became the legal drinking age. I also didn't want to spend my money on it. Studies are now coming out saying that alcohol is really bad for your health and increases your chance of getting cancer and diseases. When they say a glass of wine a day is good for you, its all lies.

@@Esther-32013 I grew up hearing that red wine was good for you too. Turns out grape juice or just eating the grapes is just as good without the cancer causing alcohol. What you rarely hear is much of a contributor to cancer alcohol really is, and no amount is safe. I only learned this recently.

How can it be a dry January if he's in a pool, pools are home to a large portion of the world's wetness..

Have you been to Ketama, Morocco? World cannabis culture there is amazing and perspective. Saw the article on Rolling stones magazine about Ketama cannabis culture. Red Lebanese strain is medicinal and recreational. Cannabis tourism in Ketama, morrocco is the future.

I am not a heavy drinker but I've drank socially since college, I'm on day 25 of doing "dry January" and I honestly don't really feel much different.
