As a guy, I ❤️ the drunk elephant lactic acid. Keeps my face hydrated when use twice weekly, at night, and with Vanicream daily moisturizer (lotion). I get dry skin from Tretinoin, so I was advised to use lactic acid 2x a week and at night with a moisturizer. Also, I have brown skin and lactic acid is a better choice for people of color.

Thank you! The comparison is very helpful as I am finishing up Good Genes and have the DE serum lined up. I did not find Good Genes to be irritating for my skin. It was actually very gentle! Strangely, I found the REN Ready Steady Glow toner super irritating!

I also did not have good luck with the one from REN, I've found them to be rather hit or miss, some of their Calming products are quite nice but most of the rest is not very friendly for sensitive skin.

I have to say, I was very excited when the DE serum came out and, although it is VERY expensive, I went for the splurge. The pump broke after a few uses and it was a pain to work with (product leaking all over the place) and the product itself did NOTHING for my skin.

Thank you for your honesty no wonder why your KZread channel was called NBs Beauty and because of you I found companies such us Versed (firming serum and face mask doctors appointment which I love😍). I always used DE glycolic night serum however I have repurchased it recently and I am a bit sad as it is a lot of money, so I am just here waiting for the result for that amount of money😒 P.S. Keep going!♥️

I've found that when these smaller brands sell to the big companies the product quality goes down. It is very disappointing. Shiseido owns DE. I'm watching Paula's Choice closely now that Unilever purchased them. I wasn't thrilled when the investment group owned PC but they didn't mess with most of the products I use except in price and introduced way too many new products. Thank you for this comparison. I don't and won't use either LOL I tried Good Genes years ago and didn't like the feel - too siliconey feeling and it irritated my skin after a week of use. Haven't bothered with DE in a couple of years now.

I'm right there with you, there are so many other wonderful and affordable exfoliants out there, people do not need to spend upwards of $100 to exfoliate, so many great exfoliants $20 and under from smaller brands I'd rather support these days.

I guess the sunday riley has been most effective exfoliant Ive tried. A few years ago however, it irritated my skin but I was applying to slightly damp skin. I’m over halfway thru current bottle, use once a week on dry skin and no issues. I’d like to try good molecules exfoliant next. My skin did not enjoy the ordinary ones. I do also enjoy the glycolic mask of paulas choice on occasion. Like it better than DE babyfacial.

The most affordable dupe is the new Pacifica Vegan Ceramide Barrier Face Cream - and I'm really loving it since it is one of the first fragrance free Pacifica products. • @NOBSBeauty

If your skin handles it without getting too dry or flaky there's nothing wrong with using it daily. A lot of people use their exfoliant every other day, but as long as your skin doesn't get flaky then I think it is just fine to use it daily. If you do notice dryness then I would pull back to every other day.

I wouldn't buy anything from Drunk Elephant or Sunday Riley even if their products were affordable. I don't buy from companies that lie to their customers. In fact, I wouldn't use any of their products even if I got them for free. I don't want the negative feelings I would feel every time I see their names in my life. I use Good Molecules Overnight Exfoliating Serum regularly and a few different exfoliation products from Paula's Choice including the 2% Salicylic Acid Liquid. I also use some of Paula's Choice Body chemical exfoliating products, (I always pick them up when they are on sale) and I like the Alpha Body exfoliating products too. I also like some of the exfoliating products from Cas De Baha. They are very affordable. I also use the The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toner on my body sometimes as needed too. It works beautifully on my feet, knees and elbows. It's especially good to use on my feet occasionally after going barefoot in the summer, (or when I have rough skin on my body), followed by a heavy foot cream or moisturizer at night. Paula's Choice has several facial exfoliation products that really work great for me that I enjoy using and they often have sales. But there are also other more affordable brands that I really like to use too that are also my go tos, like Good Molecules, Cos De Baha, and Alpha.

It frustrates me so much when companies put essential oils in their skin care...the amount of times I’ve become excited over ingredients and then scroll down and they have EOs in there 🙄. Especially lemongrass which is a known allergenic EO, and I’ve even seen bergamot which is known to cause photo sensitivity. At least my wallet likes it because it’s predominantly expensive brands that put EOs in their formulations. And I love EOs, but not in my skin care, especially for my face.
