I just love his personality lol. He played Architects - Doomsday drumless a while back, I loved that video, and I think it might've been the first of the Drumeo videos I've seen. I'm not a drummer (yet) but I love that channel.

Zack's channel is really cool and he has such a great sense of humour and such a unique "feel" on the drums. Highly recommended you check his channel out. This said: of all these Drumeo challenges, I thought that Zack would really struggle with Animals as Leaders as this kind of music is very far removed from his Jazz style of playing but he nailed it really well.

Hi, Andrew! Wow, that was really, really good and super fun to watch and listen. I love his playing style, the way he leads with the wrists. It adds a snappy attack to each strike, really cool, I've got to work on that. Also, Andrew, the lighting in your studio is far more subdued and relaxing. It really draws me in. NICE!😃

Jeez Louis. I've been drumming for about 14 months. I've been working on Zombie for weeks now, and still don't have it fully memorized. How is it humanly possible to do what Zack Grooves did here?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fucking amazing beyond belief.

What Andrew said at the end, how it can take a LONG, LONG time learn those first songs when you're starting out is really great to hear. Maybe it's not unusual to take weeks to memorize Zombie when you're a beginner like me.

Zack has a band called Everything YES which is very jazz fusion. I highly recommend checking them out even if it's just on your own time

Would be cool to see a reaction to the original Matt video. I’ve found it to be a little easier to digest than other Animals songs on a first listen. It still does get better each time though.

They gave him the drum notation. And he said it's not gonna help because it's just too much. So better just do it the old fashioned way by just listening and playing.

Zack Grooves is absolutely great, and I like having Andrew provide additional insight. Matt Garstka is phenomenal, as is everyone in Animals. But it's too bad their music totally sucks. Being very good at your instrument doesn't necessarily mean you are a good composer. Matt's parts are great, but the music (if you can call it that) is very lacking. And for those who say I'm not sophisticated enough, probably that I only listen to music that follows the basic folk structure (verse, chorus, verse, chorus, etc.), I grew up on classical music (along with some old stuff and musicals). I don't actually like most rock music, though my main genre is metal. This band is self-indulgent, just showing off how good they are at their instruments, like Polyphia. Compare that to Tool. They are technically extremely adept, but that is not the point of their songs. Their songs are SONGS. They aren't just showing off what they can do, rinse and repeat for a while, then move onto the next part where all they do is show off how good they are technically.

Do they still produce songs that fade out? ;-( I would have hoped that died in the 80s. Such a lame-ass way of ending a song (in almost all cases - Tori Amos's Liquid Diamonds being one rare exception).
