I’m so glad I found this video. I’m a bassist (love drummers) and I heard Anderson’s Tiny Desk and I was trying to figure what is it that I’m loving so much. He’s so damn good and it’s not super technical or fancy he just grooves so hard.

I have known about Paak for a long time, like going on ten years. I dont say that to be a dorky hipster and brag. I say that to say, you could tell how special he was the very first time you saw him. There is something about his talent that just shines.
Dude, I am learning 16th notes at the moment and it is hard. Anderson.Paak plays so smoothly. It looks simple but it takes a long time to play like that. Hope to get there sometime. Junkdrummer, I agree with you 100%.

Thank ya brother!
I came across Anderson.Paak when a website I frequent linked to his video for 'Bubblin'. I thought it was a really fun video and fun song and I showed it to my girlfriend. Now we're both huge fans of everything he does. Such an all around multi-talented musician. As far as singing drummers go Mastodon's Brann Dailor does some incredible stuff on the kit while he sings. His live vocals and vocals in general aren't anything crazy in their own sense, but when you add in his drumming style it becomes something that very few people could pull off.
Magical indeed! I’m such a huge Paak fan and this was a lovely video to watch, thank you! 😊
Goes straight to the Soul.!
This is one of my favorite Tiny Desks. I appreciate you confirming what I always felt about Anderson.Paak: the way he plays is special and makes me want to move!

My percussion professor at VanderCook, Kevin Leeper, use to say that the best drummers were the ones that made you groove to the most basic beats. Nothing fancy, no crazy fills, just a mf solid ass groove. That's what a drummer is. And bro your reaction just took me back to that place when I started to understand the most deepest fundamentals about what makes good music. You are 100000% right. I saw that tiny desk concert and god damn that's a groove and to do that on top of singing this bad ass song... nothing short of musical genius. Love the video and enjoyed how passionate you talked about music. You also made me want to drink.
Great video Steve, thanks for introducing me to Anderson Paak, I’ll definitely look for more of his stuff. Also, thanks for mentioning Jellyfish- took me right back to the early 90s! As ever, if you’re ever at a loss for ideas for new videos (I know you’re not) it would be great to hear your analysis of Joe Morello.
Anderson Paak should be a household name. His drumming invokes a primal urge to get up and move.
Bro I love your vibe, like you’re just expressing your self and just enjoying what your doing, I’ve never watched ur vids before so this is a good ass first impression especially being drunk and listening to daft punk dancing alone
