In his totally astonishing drum-clinic for Drumeo he stated that the feet should do whatever the hands can do - then he went on to prove it. Eating a Chinese takeaway later though was not a pretty sight.

Thomas is simply a drummer virtuoso. His technical ability is second to none. He is a world class drummer all the way!

Aside from the insanely good drumming, those are some of the sweetest sounding drums I've ever heard. Okay I'm blown away.

Thomas is one of the best bands around.

He is absolutely beyond, massively dynamic, his technique is incredible. His drumeo double stroke roll class blew my mind

He use every element of this drumset and there are a lot elements! He foodwork is insane!

This is one of my favorite performances by any current drummer. Lang is obviously one of the best to ever perform. Simply amazing skills.

I cant argue there never seen anyone ever besides Bozio play all those pedals nothing against Terry he is Phenomenal but Thomas takes it to another level

Lang is such a powerhouse. Watching him demonstrate fast singles across the kit is uncanny. He looks more like a robot than a human the way he rotates his upper body while keeping his arms more or less the same.

Thomas Lang is the greatest drummer who ever lived . The man is not human . He and marco minneman also play guitar very well

Me and my buddy Benji went to Adams Drumworld Festival a couple of years ago. Outside there was this tall bloke (I'm 1.94m myself) who greeted us with a big smile. It took us a couple of seconds to process that Thomas Lang just greeted us 😂😂. We felt like Kings, and his performance on stage was amazing! Anika Nilles also played that day, she was an absolute beast too. Would really love to see her on the channel one day.

Marco isn't technically beast like other two. Thomas is GOD, followed by Virgil and Magini. Portnoy is best all round drummer followed by Marco

@@KingKong-xp6so - What?! Marco is absolutely up there with Lang, Donati, and Mangini. Portnoy is excellent, but wasn't known for "extreme drumming", and insane independence like these othes mentioned.

I would like to see/hear Thomas Lang with Ghost note on Zildjian live... That´s would be absolute madness.

The problem for me when listening to TL, is I really do want to quit. He’s so precise and perfect it hurts. Watch him do a simple snare roll, and the perfection of the rebound hit melts my brain.

Exactly. Some stuff from other legends like mangini, portnoy etc. is like: "well, maybe I can play this stuff one day if I only practice hard enough." Hearing stuff from Thomas is like: "Oh, guitar is an interesting Instrument too, Oh wait, thomas play guitar too? Well I should sell everything what reminds me to making music...". This hard as hell polyrhtms are the final boss.

I remember a while ago in a Q&A, someone asked him for tips on how to become a session drummer. He basically said, if it’s in LA, give up, most of the gigs are mine, you won’t get hired if I’m here.

I’ve lost count how many times I’ve watched this; I’m still speechless!!🥁😷

Still no dislikes?! Could Thomas Lang be the god that unites us all?! ❤😎 Also the jumping around the pedals I've seen that before by other drummers like George kollias and Derek Roddy, it's pretty awesome creativity! I had their DVDs 😁

He has a great mind. He know how to tell a great music story.

I put a clinic on with TL in Stoke on Trent, England back in ‘04. The bloke was unreal. Speaks and plays like the sodding Terminator. Top bloke. Great night.

I'm not a drummer myself but I've been magnetically drawn to drums all my life, & spend so much time on KZread watching drum playthroughs. The creativity & human potential of drummers absolutely astounds me & gives me goosebumps watching these guys! Also Andrew, I find your content super entertaining & informative & watching your channel has introduced me to bands I wouldn't have come across 👌 I do have a question for you, which drummer for you inspires you to drop everything & jump straight on the kit?

The guy is a machine. His 32 note double kicks are insane and the percussion with his left foot ive been a drummer for 4o years and cannot even start to get close to this man......i hate him and love him

The one thing I've always noticed when listening to Thomas play is a big fat smile on my face while I listen. Something I noticed you doing as well. You just can't help it. His stuff is just so awesome, I just smile from out pure astonishment and partially because I'll never do that. 😂

I took lessons with Thomas around 20 years back. Sometimes during lessons… all I could do was smile! Hah!

I have watched his Time video more times than I can count, and his limb independence is unworldly

Thomas did a GREAT breakdown of that exact kit for that session. If I remember correctly, from left to right it's a mini snare, little stack kind of thing, then one of his hihat pedals.

This makes me think of Terry Bozzio with his work with various orchestra’s. You should definitely look up some of his more recent work. It’s wild how many different parts he plays all at once.

Thomas Lang is a wizard. I really would love for you to do a reaction video of a drummer named Matt Greiner from the band August Burns Red.

It’s about time!

I truly believe Lang could be the GOAT.

At 52 yrs old Ive given up on trying to achieve this level and accept the fact that you cant hold a day job and still find enough time. At least we have the great Thomas Lang to enjoy. He plainly said years ago that nobody is born with it and constant pursuit is the only way.

Thomas Lang might actually be a cyborg built by Meinl to help sell their cymbals. You really won't find many artists who do a better job of showing some of the unique characteristics of their product line.

Just stumbled across an incredible drummer, Marcus Thomas. You should do a reaction video.

You’re right about hitting the drums off center. Someone did slow-mo shots of hitting drums and showed how the heads react. When you hit dead center the “ripple” of the head cancels out the tone or sound (resonance) you want. It’s on KZread somewhere.

Whilst this is an unbelievable performance, does anyone else feel deflated when watching these virtuoso drummers? The feeling that you will never be able to achieve this level? I have been playing for 20 years, practicing every day………..not even close

Hes doing the work of two percussionists and one drummer, nothing is in the track either, I've seen the drum only video of this, hes truly mind blowing.

Round two of suggesting Zildjian Live w/ Larnell Lewis. Will blow your mind and his solo at the end is insane.

Yes he was amazing but he's not fitting DT I think. Marco is the man for DT. He's energy seems like Portnoy. Much intense and open to connect with audience in concert. Mangini is hanging out by hisself and telling audience "I'm here and happy." that's it. Thomas Lang is the same. Portnoy and Marco are trying to reach concert audience. It's not the place but I just wanted to say that. Mangini and Lang are self talent machine. Also Portnoy and Marco but they chemistry are different when they play with group. (I didn't express my feelings since Portnoy's departure :)))
