I love the dynamics they were able to add to their music; they never hesitated to smoothly and seamlessly drop tempo from wherever they were if the song called for it and everyone followed along to perfection.

Hello from New England..It's Brian from N.E. Andrew..I'm using someone elses mobile...This groove is so dirty it needs to be brought up on charges of indecency lol..Once again JPJ displays his gift for arranging during the guitar solo when he holds it down with a nasty bass line..I cant imagine having had this much facility vocab and overall headroom when I was 21..Goes to show certain pll are just born to be legends...Peace

Somebody may correct me, but I think Robert and Bonzo were about 19 at this point, had previously had experience but more or less in glorified garage bands, and Zeppelin had been together about 2 weeks before they went into the studio to cut that album. Truly the stuff of legend...

I know they were both 19 when the band was put together, shortly after they turned 20, not if before or after this recording. Page had obligations from the Yarbirds, so they had to do some concert dates in the Netherlands/Iceland. Iceland is where The Immigrant song idea came from. They recorded & Page edited etc. all in about 36 hours, it dropped in January of 1969. Their second album was recorded in different studios, while they were touring, it dropped in October of 1969. Two amazing albums in less then a year, by the greatest band then, & still are today.

@Cecil Keebler I started playing drums because of Neil Peart's drumming.. But I absolutely Loved your comment!! After growing up listening to Neil Peart.. My older Brother,"God Rest His Soul!" Got me listening to Bonzo.. And the very 1st time hearing Bonzo, playing the drums, the 1st thing that blew me away,"about the way that John Botham played, was how smooth, clean and (Owww How Powerful His Bass drum Sounded!) And it was a little later, that i found out that Bonzo was one of Neil Pearts Biggest Influential Drummer's of his time!!! And WOW!! How i miss them both so so much!! Perfect Comment!!! As much as I respected Neil Peart!!... Bonzo, without any doubt whatsoever!!!! Most definitely had not only the fastest and smoothest bass drum, playing abilities, that ive Ever Heard!

How did I miss your reaction to this live?? I hope it's 1970 Royal Albert Hall. That performance is so epic! Loved this reaction. Drumeo looks like a really cool thing to have, (if I were a drummer) haha. Peace, Andrew Edit: ok I did watch your reaction to the live version of this BUT IT WAS THE AUDIO ONLY! YOU HAVE TO WATCH AS WELL AS LISTEN, ANDREW!! The only way to redeem yourself is watching How Many More Times from the same show. It's 20 minutes of absolute mayhem so I'm not sure if you can handle it. I would love to make a contribution to the channel to get this up, (I understand that's how it works), but I'm on a fixed income and the economy...blah blah blah. Hopefully someone can push this one out there for us. You need redemption, Andrew. How can you listen to just the audio when theres video to go along with it? Praying for a miracle here in the states 🙏🏼🙏🏼

This is a wonderful, rather under appreciated Zeppelin song. The dynamics and feel are all there and it flows seamlessly into another under appreciated gem How Many More Times. There’s a great live version of that too from Denmark radio in early 69. It was their first television performance and they are on point! Check it out.

This version is fantastic but the live at Royal Albert Hall is way off the charts!! Side note: Bonham was 20 when this was recorded in September 1968 (30 hrs) & released January 1969, turned 21 in May and recorded & released Led Zeppelin II in October 1969. 🤯What powerhouses these guys were!

May 31 1948 Bonham's birthday first album released in US was January 12 1969 March 31 1969 in UK according to page it took a total of 36 hrs to record it With his own money Now that was first under led zeppelin but they all played together in late 1967 to 1968 under the name the New Yardbirds Jimmy had to fulfill 6 gigs he was under contract to do so they actually played together way before the first zeppelin album was recorded according to Page Plant n Jonesy they all stated the first got together in late 1967 early 1968

@@HollisDuty60yes I thought it was in 68 also, they weren’t even together long when they fulfilled those contracts. I’ve always wondered though, why was it just Jimmy’s responsibility, & the others just could walk away? I’m glad that’s how it went, or Led Zeppelin may have been missing Plant & Bonham, because that Reed guy would have been free then.

I always both cringe and like Jimmy Page screwing up a bit when he is finishing up one of his solos about the 5:20 mark of this video and he comes in quite a bit too early. They just left it in there and when on about their business. Lightening in a bottle. You just simply would not hear that rawness these days.
