Dropping In Super Sketchy Creek (Terrible Idea)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Well I put the group in a pretty shit spot today, there was no reason we had to drop in to this but I wanted to push the guys comfort level. Ended up pushing my own and putting us in danger. Luckily we worked through It and everything worked out alright. Of Course I should’ve done some things differently and I can clearly see that watching things back.

Being able to see everyone’s POV when you tried the first drainage and debating what to do was really cool. Showing what to do in a sketchy situation and educating with commentary afterwards is also something I would love to see more of when these things happen on the mountain

As a guy who rides with his son, roughly the same age as Jerry and Matt, my greatest fear is still seeing my son get hurt or killed. As a father you never lose that feeling of being totally responsible, regardless how much experience your son has. AT this moment Jerry is getting it doubly bad as two of his sons are out there. Thanks for keeping it real and not editing out your mistakes and your family's responses to the scenario.

Situations like this always create feelings of "shoulda, coulda, woulda" but one thing I felt was spot on was your group communication. Jerry's knowledge was impressive too. I now provide safety trainning and would like to use this as a great example of stopping and thinking of the best solution, running that solution by the team to see if anyone can add to the plan. Great vid as always. Appreciate your willingness to share a rare miss on the initial avy hazard eval. If you spend enough time in the mtns you will make mistakes now and then, but you course corrected with good communication and respect for the terrain/consequences. Like that your group spoke up when uncomfortable, gave alternate options for comms etc. Good dynamic. It's clear you have a good mtn sense. Always a fine line between comfortable and overconfident when we're able to get out daily. - A guy that mostly skis but likes to braap too. I teach awareness level avy courses in my free time.

You're even more educated and humbled now to how fast a scenerio can change. Hats off to you guys

Important to show the mistakes and thought process of situations like that.. can help others to slow down and think 👍 good stuff Matt!

No shame to be had. Like in whitewater rafting, sometimes ya gotta read it and run it. And that's what Y'all did. Saw the sketch then proceeded pragmatically rather than emotioaly. Live to get stuck another day! Well done boys.

I used those dinky devices for riding years ago. Switch to the Sena 10s and never looked back. Very easy to use and never fails to connect to your buddy. They just came out with a new one that comes with better headphones and a camera. Maybe worth a look🤷🏻‍♂️

We've all been there with the spidey senses going off and you know you made a mistake but man its cool to see the progression in the videos. Not only is the footage still great but the different perspectives and rider info is cool too. Great job.
