Arier, if you meet a group in 40K that seems like they are not evil… its too late, you are already in their trap. If you meet a person that seems not evil… you either got luckier than 10,000 lottos in a row… or you will wish it was “only” the “seemingly good group” you found

Honestly, the nuances of "evil" is what I love about 40k. Lots a shit done but alot of redemption chances as well, (the Lion returning to redeem the Fallen that the rest of the Dark Angels just want dead, is a big one imo)

My favorite take on machine spirits is that the concept refers to a lot of things that the mechanicus don't quite understand enough to differentiate. Some is AI tech the mechanicus doesn't realize is there, some is effects from having bits of brain plugged into systems, some is old psychic tech they don't necessarily realize they incorporate into their machines, and sometimes a gun is just a simple gun.

More specifically Starcraft 1/Mass Recall (Starcraft 1 in Starcraft 2 engine as a mod) Terran Marine deathsound. (There's several, but I do NOT know which is which)

My interpretation on the concept of transhuman dread is that is practical a form of the uncanny valley effect, which makes sense for me because it is in general (not always) descripted from the Human perspective, and a Space Marine would be to weird look at Human but not quiet right with proportions their movement not that we would expect for a Human with that statuer, so for me it was always the uncanny valley effect plus the in universe reference for Space Marine from regular Humans

1 trick to "Painting a bright color" (IE: white) is make it the base coat, whether that's via airbrush or rattle can, which saves you a metric-smegton of effort instead of trying to do it manually after... a fact I found out only recently when I wanted to in fact paint a Primaris Apothecary (the normal one). The Card Scanners attached to my works registers, which should not be controlling anything on it, just providing data back to it, if you disconnect them and then reconnect them when the register freezes or starts to lag, it will 99% of the time fix the issue. Also, for any issues with electronic systems that have no explanation, we literally just call it, The Ghost in the Machine, this is what my professor for IT as well as our colleges multiple Computer Engineers all stated. I have seen this, I put that thing through a hard shutdown, and less than a minute later, I hear it start back up. It would be okay, if it weren’t a thermal printer capable of outputting enough heat to make the entire 5 foot area around it feel like a sauna.

Arier, friend, there _are no_ good factions in 40k. If you think that, there is a fundamental misunderstanding of the lore. Even under Guilliman, the Imperium does the following: Mass Murder, Mass Sterilization, and Genocide. You have an idea outside of what the Church wants you to think? Dead. Think the Emperor was a bit too heavy handed in areas? Dead. Want to invent a new gun that might kill Tyranids a bit quicker? Dead, at best, or turned into a AdMech Servitor. Games Workshop themselves call the Imperium "The most bloody, cruel, and zealious regime in human history." The Imperium, by design, is meant to be _WORSE_ than WW2 Germany or the Soviet Union.

You *need* to checkout Old Man Lore Stories and Theories, PancreasNoWork, and MajorKill. Plus Inheriter by Eliphas which is canon to tts.

The whole "Everyone is 40k is evil" is a gross generalization used for people largely unfamiliar with the setting to help them understand that the various factions do things that we would consider evil. When you get into the minutiae of the lore, it's a lot more complicated and nuanced, yes what the various factions do we would consider evil, but most are also doing it for survival and when in situations where it's survive or die, people will often do terrible things just to survive another day.

(Changed a little on January 27, 2024) That fact is a HEAVY misconception. First of all it was Warcraft 1, NOT Starcraft. Second of all, it was execs trying to ensure Warcraft 1 sales with Warhammer Fantasy trademark, the creative team was HEAVILY opposed due to restrictions of WH Fantasy IP. Also, as far as I'm aware, there never was ANY response about this from Games Workshop.
