Wow...Did I miss something? You never touched on the most important element of the whole switch...The clutch pedal. What pedal assembly did you use? Was it a junk yard unit or aftermarket kit? Did you have to do any other mods to the floor other than drilling the hole for the shifter? Too much information is missing in this video. Just replacing the transmission is way too easy. You guys usually tell the whole story. Not this time.

This was a fun project but either Marc or Tommy is misremembering their history. I may prefer driving a stick shift but it does have certain vulnerabilities at the drag strip. The 4 speed used in the early '60s, Borg Warner's T-10 had a reputation for being fragile and often failed when used to launch full sized factory super stock cars at the drag strips. This led the big three to develope their own heavy duty four speeds: The Muncie M20/M21/M22, The Ford Toploader, and Chrysler's A833. One of the most highly regarded transmissions during that time was the Chrysler A727 Torqueflite, which was used on the early match racing "funny cars" when they based on cut up compact cars. Now that electronic fuel injection and forced induction have allowed hot rodders to produce street engines with power levels that were undreamed of in the '60s, many of the strongest engines are fitted to automatic transmissions, partly because it is easier to modify a slushbox to reliably handle over 1000 hp at the drag strip than it is to do so with a manual transmission. The other factor is that properly launching and shifting a high powered manual transmission car is limited to gods like Ronnie Sox. The four speed manual transmission is a well loved part of the muscle car era, and a well driven four speed could offer performance advantages over an automatic transmission, but it was not always the best or even the strongest option either back in the day or now.

What did they do with the electronics? The engine computer will be looking for the transmission information. How did they keep it working properly??

U do what we all do when doing a manual swap and leave it thinking its in neutral with that sensor tucked somehwehre in the firewall, unless u have a engine management of course that lets u just disable

Where's the rest of the swap? You guys need to show us the whole story. About 15 years ago I had a manual transmission swap done a 1983 2-door Mercury grand marquis with a mild moded 351w in it. But they threw a centerforce clutch kit in it that was way to hard for street daily driving, so left it sitting in a garage for like 10 years till the day I sold it. Still hate myself for letting it go

Sure would have been nice to have the automatic 1/4 mile run times to compare to. The "stick" would be embarrassed.

Basically strip the entire dash foreward and fab mounts. Get all the controllers and harnesses. Will prolly need a tune.

0:58 "It does burnouts now" That's a load of BS, I have a stock 09 police interceptor and that thing does two-wheel peels. If you can't get it to do a burnout it's because you can't drive 👍

Lol I gotta agree with everyone here... what happened to the pedal install? I’m no car surgeon, but I would think... don’t install a new clutch and drive to the drag strip. Ideally a new clutch should be broken in with at least a few hundred miles of “normal” driving

Dam when I was a youngster I was handed down a 2001 grand marquis with 30k original miles ran like a dream! We took it to the 1/8 strip multiple times and it would consistently run 9.4/9.5s with absolutely NOTHING done to it! I ended up putting an electric dump on it and would whoop the shit out of all the regular daily drivers running on test and tune night it was hilarious lmaooo 🤣🤣🤣🤣
