🇫🇷 Pendant un concert des Dropkick Murphys, des instruments qui, a priori, n’ont rien à faire ensemble se côtoient dans la joie et la bonne humeur : bodhran, guitare, batterie, mandoline, accordéon… La raison ? Les Américains sont les ambassadeurs du celtic punk rock, un style qui - comme son nom l’indique - mélange influences hardcore et musique irlandaise. On aura rarement entendu une alliance aussi efficace.
Les Dropkick Murphys multiplient les allers-retours musicaux entre leur Amérique natale et l’Île d’Emeraude depuis le milieu des années 90. Fils spirituels de The Pogues et de Stiff Little Fingers, leur musique est à la fois virile et bon enfant, festive et revendicatrice. Des compositions à l’image de l’Irlande en somme.
Aujourd’hui composés d’Al Barr, James Lynch, Ken Casey, Matt Kelly, Tim Brennan et Jeff DaRosa, les Dropkick Murphys viennent une nouvelle fois retourner le Hellfest Open Air Festival. Aura-t-on droit à un wall of death sur fond de bignou ? À un circle pit humecté à la Guinness ? Réponse dans cette vidéo.

🇩🇪 Bei den Konzerten der Dropkick Murphys garantiert eine wilde Mischung unterschiedlichster Instrumente - von Bodhrán, Gitarre und Schlagzeug über Mandoline bis zum Akkordeon - für Party und gute Stimmung. Die US-Amerikaner sind Botschafter des Celtic Punk Rock, eines Musikstils, der, wie der Name schon sagt, Einflüsse aus Hardcore und irischem Folk miteinander verbindet und dabei eine selten unterhaltsame Mischung schafft.
Seit Mitte der 1990er Jahre unternehmen die Dropkick Murphys regelmäßig musikalische Abstecher über den Großen Teich in Richtung Grüne Insel. Sie sind die geistigen Ziehkinder von The Pogues und Still Little Fingers, und ihre Musik ist ebenso kernig wie gesellig, festlich und anspruchsvoll zugleich - Irland eben.
Die Dropkick Murphys in der aktuellen Besetzung mit Al Barr, James Lynch, Ken Casey, Matt Kelly, Tim Brennan und Jeff DaRosa werden das Hellfest Open Air Festival erneut ordentlich auf den Kopf stellen. Ob es wohl wieder eine Wall of Death zu Uilleann Pipes geben wird? Oder einen Circle Pit mit Guinness-Dusche? Wer mehr wissen will, muss einfach dieses Video anschauen.

I did, I saw them at River Rave back when that was a thing in Massachusetts and they were awful. Tons of people walked out. They sound a lot better now.

Saw them in 2017 at It’s Not Dead Festival, San Bernardino Ca. They went on before Rancid and legit think they had a way better set.

Ken describes himself as 'vocally challenged', but he's still good for their style. I fully agree though, when interchanging with Al it's so much better.

@@nathalielegalois7403 Trouvé sur google De passage sur la scène du Hellfest 2024, le groupe de punk américain Dropkick Murphys a marqué les esprits des fans des Canaris en adressant un message en hommage à Maxime, supporter nantais tué le 2 décembre 2023 en marge de la rencontre FC Nantes - OGC Nice. « Nous détestons entendre parler de mauvaises nouvelles, mais nous répondons présent lorsque les gens nous demandent de rendre hommage à leurs amis. Je veux donc dédier le prochain morceau à notre ami Maxime et à tous nos amis fans du FC Nantes ici présents. On m’a dit qu’il aimait cette musique… elle est pour toi, Maxime. Repose en paix », a lancé Ken Casey, chanteur et bassiste du groupe, en brandissant un t-shirt floqué du nom de Maxime.

As usual almost nothing from their first 4 albums (they fell off after those first 4). Miss the DKM of old, when we used to travel to Boston to see them on Lansdowne St. during St. Patricks Day, and weren't as radio friendly. Even having Skinhead in the middle of set, inside of the end where they would allow everyone on the stage. is blasphemy
a full 55 min vid and I only care about 1 min at the end. LOL
i love dropkick murphys but they seem have dropped off with out al barr being in the band, i know hes having family stuff with his mum but they could at least get a temp in

Late 90s DKM were great! The Bruisers were better though! DkM changed a lot, different audience as well. Fair play, it is their band. Just finally put me off after some really weak albums and endless Paddy whackery when they started getting all political, covering songs by some commie who praised the murdering soviets in his songs. Tells a lot about what is mainstream nowadays.

@@enhabeer effectivement je vie dans une caverne dans le Périgord noir, avec comme nourriture de la truffe ! Je disait rien de nouveau dans le sens créativité, c'est mon choix, je suis libre de m'exprimer comme je l'entend. Mon cœur va être The Pogues que ce groupe à laquelle j'ai déjà apporté une oreille sur album et live. L'égout et les couleurs ne tienne qu'à chacun. De plus vous me faites remarquer que si je veux les voir en concert c'est mal barré, comme si je ne savais pas. Non mais franchement !!!

@@franckleblanc6713si vous êtes un vrai fan des Pogues, alors encouragez leurs héritiers, plutôt que de les dénigrer. Chaque génération de musiciens a enrichi et nourri la suivante, c’est ce qui fait la richesse de la musique. Ces commentaires de dénigrement ne vous grandissent pas, loin de là, avec votre ton condescendant et méprisant envers tous les fans, comme si l’âge était gage de sagesse (non mais franchement). Gardez votre énergie pour ce que vous aimez et laissez les autres en profiter, merci !

Shane avait chanté avec eux sur un morceau de leur album de 2001. Je n'adore pas l'évolution des DKM (surtout en l'absence d'Al Barr), mais ça n'a strictement aucun sens d'opposer les deux groupes.
