    I bet there are a bunch of us 107 pilots that would love to take part in something this big! Life is too precious and to be a part of saving someone’s life is an incredible heart warming feeling. ❤

    The nice gentleman who was rescued looked a bit familiar. :) As a Civil Air Patrol sUAS Mission Pilot, I'm super impressed with how you showcased drones for search and rescue. Great job on the brief & debrief scenario for great team collaboration and continuous improvement. Seeing the potential of color, thermal, and AI analysis of the video is amazing. Hopefully, we'll see improvements for "on-the-fly" AI video analysis for faster response time within the controller.

    Before the local constabularies had drones I went up twice to help find an errant Alzheimer’s patient. Success both times. The County now has its own drone program. I’m still a volunteer if they need it. SAR is the highest use, save for military. Good video. Every 107 pilot should volunteer. See you at Oshkosh.

    outstanding PSA for SAR. I was on a canine team 30 years ago and this was so familiar but yet so different with the added technology. Handheld GPS was new for us at the time; facinating to look back and imagine how useful drones would have been.

    out freaking standing. Well then let's share it with some people in Washington. Perhaps they could say " well you can do it with another brand of drone" but in places like Puerto Rico that is one of those places where Hurricanes (Florida, Texas) hits every year, we are also susceptible to Tsunamis and earthquakes (California) , in these days where mother nature is changing so fast, an emergency can just be right the corner. By the time they do some changes life and property is in danger. Any lost, their fault.

    Nice demo but I kinda disagree in that Thermal doesn't always work b/c of how easy it is to hide, like if the person was hiding from the cold. Seems like they need an AirTag app on the drone to find the phone that called emergency services. I imagine the cellphone-surveillance stingray-devices in city-planes are really good at it as they can track entire human-groups-of-interest. I don't want that tax on my DJI purchase b/c the technology to outperform drones already exists to find the location of a cellphone. I had thought planes are not even $200 an hour for cities who own them to monitor their counties, like for planes that find speeders they only had to earn $125 an hour in fines to justify the programs I had once read.

    Thermal does not ALWAYS work. Situations where the heat difference is not enough (hot summer day) and where people are not in direct view of the sensor will make it impossible to use thermal.

  • @kylenordfors

    @kylenordfors

    Ай бұрын

    Your post is a little confusing.. We agree that thermal doesn’t always work for a variety of reason. Thermal loading and tree canopies are somethings that make the thermal camera useless. AirTags on drones, especially in that back country where there is no cell coverage, or if we’re looking for someone with an android simply do not work well. If you enroll in the class you’ll learn more about effective SAR strategies that have been proven over hundreds of thousands of rescues. We agree, we don’t want more taxes on our drones either.

  • @SlackerU

    @@kylenordfors AirTags use bluetooth so if you were to fly right above the trees you might get a real-time-tracking signal. Especially if the person was not too far off the trail. Stingrays in planes are cell-towers.
