DRONES flying over theme parks?!
Ойындар
Do you think people should be flying drones over theme parks?
In this video I give my personal opinion on the increase of drone flights over some of our UK theme parks including Thorpe Park and Alton Towers.
To summarise, drone flight is legal in the airspace over these theme parks, but that doesn’t necessarily mean we should rush to do it as these parks are clearly telling us that they do not want drones to fly over their property. This is something that should be respected in the same way you wouldn’t take a GoPro on a ride if the park didn’t want you doing it.
This video is different to my usual content as I’m away in France but the normal vids will resume next Friday.

they're gonna be lost for content when the general open seasons starts and they can't fly their toys over them (afaik) lmao
Didn’t know you needed visual line of sight when flying drones! Ps. Green screen looks good

Yo it’s Sam
If everything is legal and above board it’s all down to a matter of opinion. Similar to folk using GoPro’s on ride even though the park has allowed it. IMO the use of cameras on ride pose more risk than a drone. But again that’s my opinion. Love the location this is set at though 👌🏼
I totally agree Marcus. If parks want privacy then they should get it. Also please do more videos like this

However if law permits then the parks must abide by
well said mate, it annoys me when I see these accounts posting pictures of say nemesis being taken apart as cool as the pics may be it’s clear they’re using it to try and get some more followers. Just allow the park to do their work and we’ll see it next season!

But still used one of my photos in your TikTok vids 🤷🏻♂️
Lots of people fly drones from outside the park and use long distance lenses so they can still get the shots and see the drones.

I seriously doubt that those people outside of the park can fully comply with the CAA VLOS rules
Marcus can you give me a bagel? Im hungry
3 mins of location flex. I respect it 😅

you shouldnt be flying over TP as its restricted airspace for Heathrow, so if they are doing that they are breaking the law

Incorrect. You can fly over Thorpe Park, you have to seek Heathrow ATC approval first.

@@ThemeParkJackk if you go down monks walk there are clear signs stating that you are not allowed to fly drones over TP. Xxx EDIT: Not trying to be arsey, just letting you know what I've seen xx

@@AdventureRachel as ThrillRiders touched on, the signs have been installed by Merlin/Thorpe. They’re not legal signs that we must follow. It’s simply a request. The only approval you need is off Heathrow control tower. Thorpe Park is in a CTR zone and not a no fly zone. You must have approval before you can use your drone in this area. Alton Towers for example has no restrictions. Merlin own the land and not the airspace above their parks. The CAA control it.

My main job is within the aviation industry, something I have had to study hard for, and I’m fully aware of the UK restrictions and laws for aviation. Providing the UAV flights are conduct by the letter of the law, you’re simply doing nothing wrong. I know you’re not being arsey! X
The parks say they are prohibited but they arnt because they do not own the airspace ! And there’s 0 air restrictions And takeing it off from outside the park publicly they can’t do shiteeee

But they can lobby the CAA to tighten the rules potentially ruining the hobby for the majority. The Auditors (who do most of this stuff) are only concerned with irritating security and park management just to get reactions.
This is a really good discussion and it's great that you've spoken up about it! While I do like seeing these update posts people make over the closed season, and it is technically legal, we should listen to the parks over anything, and if they don't like it, it should be respected. Not to mention they're full of multi-million pound metal machines full of sensors and whatnot. While people can get around it by flying a drone near parks and taking photos from there, it can definitely inspire copycats with no proper experience to try and emulate the same thing unsafely. Similar to how UK parks don't even allow secure GoPro usage, cause anyone with a camera phone might think it's okay. Nice backdrop btw 😅
Hi
Thorpe Park are chads. Don't fly your drones ''please''. Better than saying just don't fly your drones
Yes Marcus! Fully agree. I’m so glad someone with expertise has spoken out on this 👏
Shout out to Mr beast from Aldi for taking he’s time to go Thorpe park

Renaming my channel to “MrBeast from Aldi” 😂 Love it
Clear line of sight is a rule for a reason. I was going to this but decided not too at back end of December for safety.

See a lot of dodgy drone shots throughout the year, never sure how they would see it at Towers

Some people that post Alton Towers drone footage online use long lens on their drones so they can zoom in much more. This means they can be closer and still have a line of site and zoom in on what they want to show.
👏👏
greate vids
Disagree, it's the same as a helicopter or plane flying over.

There’s actually quite a lot of differences between a drone and a plane/helicopter, the main one being that the operator is on the ground rather than in the vehicle! With regards to airspace, planes and helicopters typically fly at much greater altitudes than drones which have a max altitude of only 400ft.
Great vid Dan
You are 100% right on this, The people flying these drone have zero line of site.
Hello Marcus, I totally agree with you, people shouldn't do it as it spoils things for others and can be disrespectful towards the parks etc. Kind regards Peter
See Marcus…. The biggest brained man around here ❤
Full agree with you
As someone who lives in tourist hotspot Edinburgh and sees this amateur stuff going on over busy streets and people this is appreciated.
I’ll be excited for when they start prosecuting people who fly there drones without being within line of sight. That’s the only way it’s gonna stop unfortunately.
