Dronelink On the Fly Orbits

Ғылым және технология

On the fly orbits are a quick and easy way to set up an orbit on site, and a great tool for people that need to do thangs such as tower inspections or similar types of capture.

Valuable information Barry. A lot of applicability for commercial missions requiring solid repeatability. Do you know if this would incorporate the RTK positional accuracy automatically for enterprise drones? Thanks again for all you do.

If RTK is setup then everything should be performed at that accuracy.

great video, thank you for sharing your knowledge, could you help me know what program to use to convert those photos to a 3D model... thank you

I would suggest trying Poly.cam using their gaussian splatting model - you can see that here kzread.info/dash/bejne/eGSM1tmaY7y1kqw.html

Hello. Do you know if the attitude indicator has been removed from newer versions of Dronelink?

Great video thanks for taking the time to show dronelink to new users like myself. How do you set the interval speed to 2 seconds beforehand? Im planning a simple mission for creating a 3d model of a tall obelisk using pre planned orbits. Then using this on the fly workflow ill be able to get more pictures from dofferent angles after getting the feel of the place and terrrain. Tha nks, JJ from uk

I set that ahead of time, usually in the DJI app. But, if you are going to be doing this more than once you can save the mission and then edit it to add the camera commands ahead of the orbit so that you never forget.

Thanks, that’s super. Do you set the photo interval in Dronelink? Can you format your SD card in the Dronelink app too.

Yes you can do both of those - different places in the app though. Once you have selected a timed shot the time set will appear above it. Tap that to change it. Check out my other video on the modern interface and it should show you where to format. Ping me if you are stuck.

What is the workflow for Circle Facade Verticle mission? I am new to DroneLink, but have been a drone pilot for some time. The videos you have done are fantastic.

If you check out my 3d end to end it covers that and includes a sample dronelink mission you can reuse as a starter.

great tutorial. I just purchased the Mavic 3 Enterprise for cell tower inspections and 1 concern is that the obstacle avoidance is turned off during the orbit correct? And how do you get out of the orbit mission all together?

Thank you! Obstacle avoidance is still on in orbit mode as far as I am aware. However, many drones don't have side sensors which can cause problems. The M3E has angled sensors, and that might help but I wouldn't rely on them. Make sure you can see that everything is clear as you orbit those towers. Even the most experienced tower person I know has ended up in a tree (with an M3E!) doing that. Make sure you subscribe because the next video includes an alternative method of creating orbits. Not necessarily better, but it will give you options.

Is there an option to create folders in Dronelink? I could not find any. I use folders in Pilot 2 app which helps speed up the data organization and upload.

I assume you are referring to the folders on the SD card using something like a Mavic 3 Enterprise? The system automatically creates folders based on the date/time of the flight followed by the name of the mission. For example, if you had a mission called MyThermalJob it would automatically create a folder called something like DJI_202403080842_005_MyThermalJob. The start part is the date and time, the number in the middle (005) is the number of the flight that day so this would be the 5th flight of the day.
