Mallows Bay on the Potomac River. The largest ship graveyard in the Western Hemisphere.
The large rusted vessel is the S.S. Accomac, the only steel-hulled vessel of the 230+ there. The S.S. Accomac was built in 1928 and served the ferry route between Cape Charles and Norfolk, Virginia. It was later acquired by the U.S. Navy for service in WW2.
Most of the ships there are wooden steamships used during World War 1 to cross the Atlanta.
Fascinating place and well worth the drive out to the beautifully maintained Mallow's Bay Park in Charles County, MD.
