Driving Through the Aftermath: Navigating Grenada's Post-Hurricane Beryl Roads
On 1st July 2024 hurricane Beryl made landfall as a category 4 destroying the sister islands of Carriacou and Petit Martinique.
On the mainland of Grenada most of the damages to houses were on the northern side of the island, but there were loads of fallen trees all over the island.
Here is a look at what it was like driving on the road a few hours after the hurricane.

I'm from Florida in the US. We get hurricanes regularly during hurricane season every year. I know how scary it can be especially if you aren't used to them or live in a structure not so secure. I used to live in an rv and had to evacuate everytime. Now i live in an apartment and am safer.. I think I would be more scared if I didn't live inland where it's safer. Usually we don't get the devastation that the coast can sometimes experience. We still prepare. Luckily stores and other business are able to open back up quickly and try to make sure shelves are sufficiently stocked ahead of time.. Planning ahead is key I think for us. It's so heartbreaking to see all the devastation I'm seeing. I just wish I could help everyone. So much love and hugs to everyone affected by this storm. ❤

@@drcartervet I spent some time on a pacific island and even if a typhoon comes close it is scary.....I more then likely will be sending a donation to one of the islands. You take care and stay safe.....
It looks like, so far, that you guys got off lightly as so far I am only 4 minutes in and everything is green. Carriacou is salt burnt and shockingly destroyed. Tragic that you all have to weather these storms every year and never know what might happen. The Grenadines are the most beautiful islands. I am very lucky to have sailed around there with a friend, and visited since. Thinking of you all and wishing for help and a speedy recovery for everyone.

Yes, the mainland not as bad as carriacou, but the north of the island got hit pretty bad as well.
I've been through 4 eyes and I can't count how many hurricanes with wind and rain. 3 of the 4 eyes were the scariest thing. You just are frozen praying for it to be over. One of the eyes I had to endure was a "sit and spin" type where it just didn't move for 2 days. One year we had back to back eyes (South Florida), within 3 weeks of each other. I even went to a shelter once, but that was almost as scary and so many people crammed in there. Yes, they suck

I experienced hurricane Alein in st Lucia 🇱🇨 August 1980. Every time I hear the word hurricane , it makes me feel terrified 😨. Prayers to all those in distress.

This is my 3rd Hurricane I've experienced in Grenada, but I was in the eye for the other two, so this one was not as scary for me as Ivan in 2004.
I am also new to your channel, watching from the UK. I was searching for updates on Petite Martinique for my wife has family there and on Carriacou and this hurricane beryl has absolutely destroyed these islands. I have been too them both over the years in 1975 and 1989 and now they have been decimated.

How did Sauteurs in the North of the island make out in the storm? No information has come out on the town's condition. As a tourist to the this beautiful island, Sauteurs, is the go to place for peace and relaxation. Visited and stayed there 15 times in the last 20 years.

How are hotels in Grenada? Can relief workers stay in Grenada & ferry over to C & PM?? How are the horses?

Hotels in the south largely unaffected. Many relief workers and efforts coming in yes. I will be on the ground in Carriacou tomorrow to help, so I’ll ask after the 3 horses they have up there
