Driving The Longest Dead-End Road in The UK

Today I'm driving the longest dead-end road in the UK. This 22-mile-long road is located in the Scottish Highlands and starts near a place called Invergarry. From the turn-off, the road becomes single track and the scenery becomes more and more spectacular before I reach Kinloch Hourn, the end of Britians longest dead-end road.
If you're interested to know what driving in Scotland is like or to see what a Scotland road trip is like, this video will hopefully give you an insight!

There's a dead-end Alpine road in southwestern Austria from Nauders (Tirol) up to the enclave village of Samnaun (Graubünden). When you get to the end, you're in Switzerland, but cut off from the rest of that country. You can only reach the village by road from Austria. The road is 25 km long. I used to live nearby and have often driven that road. Lovely country.

Deer on this road are nearly tame and will approach your vehicle because its a diesel, They are fed during the winter by a tractor with a diesel engine. The first part of this road use to be the main road to Skye but they built a dam in the next valley so a new road was built.

I don't often comment..but here goes... I got my new car yesterday (mx5)...the day after watching this vlog... Called my friend up..fancy going the longest dead end road with a tea room at the end...as a tour guide, she straight away said aye...well, oui, actually... So, squeezed her into the passenger seat and duly found some twisty roads to get to firstly, fort Augustus via the essich road, then a82 invergarry..then on to the road you went down .. absolutely amazing drive ... Got to the tea room... Closed on Tuesday and Wednesday!! Great drive though!! Don't fancy doing it in a big van...will stick to the Mazda go kart! Parts of the later end of the road just disappear!!... I subbed a while ago... first comment 👍👍

The single track dirt road dead-ends in my front yard, but it’s only about 1/3 mile long from where it turns off the paved road. The nearest town is only about 6 miles away. A friend and I walking in that area last June. Two points to remember....... One person had decided that the rule about not taking a caravan down that road, didn't apply to him..... he created serious problems for other road users! Wise to remember that the weather can change quite quickly. My friend and I walked to the bothy at Barrisdale from the car park, and spent the night there. The next day, in glorious sunshine, we followed the stalkers paths over the hills to the Western end of Loch Quaich. We pitched up on the shore. Then we noticed a storm at the dam end of the loch, about 5-6 miles away.... the storm headed our way and within 20 minutes, it was above us..... Very high winds, torrential rain and very noisy thunder storm..... all whipped-up from a sunny calm day in just a few minutes...... It abated almost as quickly as it arrived..... after about 5 minutes directly over head. Fortunately we had our tents up just in time. Useless piece of information::- Until the new road was built around Loch Loyne, (early 50s) the first 5 miles of the road, as far as Tomdoun, was the main road to the Isles....... it must have been a long weary drive in those days!

@@ruthaisling There is a feeling of being transported to another time. Like some kind of a mystical time machine. It reminds me of my childhood going to visit my Scottish Grandmother in Denbigh, Ontario. Very magical. Oh, by the way. We have dead end roads in Canada that go on forever. One ice road in Northern Quebec takes hours to travel and you can't get back till next winter if the ice melts. The landscape isn't nearly as beautiful but the Polar bears, Moose, Belugas and Wolves are spectacular.

Love the restrained drone use that punctuates and enhances YOUR story rather than distracting. BTW the sunglasses seen to be 'bi-focal' - probably plain in the main bit (if it works 'normally') with a 'prescription' lens, probably for reading glasses in the bottom.
