Any problems with the transmission?
I test drove this and I must say Impala stepped their game up.I'm 6'7 and had alot of leg room and the Bose speakers sound crazy like a home theater system. Must buy in my book
Good job, man. So far you are one of my favorite reviewers.
I just bought a 2017. I am still amazed every time I drive it. I had to discover the volume controls behind the steering wheel by accident when I gripped the steering wheel and the volume suddenly went up.

Best stereo system you will ever hear in your life !!! 20' wheels , day time running lights are beautiful ! I have the White Diamond Tricoat ( Pearle White ) I paid an extra $1,000 for the color . 3 years of owning my Impala , I am very pleased ! I wish it had real time Navagation for Traffic. Michael

I have the 2014 LTZ White diamond too. Still rides very smooth but have issues with Stabilizer and traction control warning lights all the time. I just ignore it 😂
Very nice car, The video doesn't do it any justice. I seen one the other day and it was beautiful! I seen the side of it and the body is beautiful, nice angles, body gaps rival german vehicles, looks strong and it is big without being sloppy looking. Im not much into cars (I love my SUVs) but with gas prices at over $3 I may have to look into an Impala.
Talk about an improvement over the 2013 Impala LTZ lol. I drove them back to back at the dealership about about six months ago, and it was like a night and day difference. The '13 LTZ I drove was a fully loaded left over model that only had 21 miles on it. It felt like a POS in comparison to the new '14 LTZ I drove. It's amazing what a restyle can do. Man did it need one. Nice work GM.
The only thing i hate on the new impala is the look of the steering wheel. The steering wheel of the Malibu is way much more attractive

Not unless you talking about the redesign Malibu 2017 and it's almost looks like the impala
Very nice review. I tried the new impala this week and liked many things about it. I like the design inside and out. There is a ton of room in the back row seat and in the trunk. I like the feel of leather on the dashboard and steering wheel. Lots of features. The one i tried had the warning for approaching impact ahead but did not slow down (no active cruise control).
Great review. And yeah 40k bro nothing like pulling up in an impala. That's classic. Best car on the market right now straight up
I've owned my 2014 LTZ since June, 2013. It was one of the first built in Oshawa, Canada for the 2014 model year. With 7350 miles on it to date, here is my personal feedback: Overall, I give it a solid A -- rides & handles great, a real head-turner (red tintcoat), big and comfortable, 20" rims, etc. The backup camera is a must as you cannot see the back at all. Without the camera you are toast; but it is standard on the LTZ. There is a horrible blind spot on the front door pilaster that can cause an accident if you are not careful. Very dangerous. In snow, this car is useless. Even with the traction control and stabilitrak, 20" wheels don't cut it. This definitely is a "fair weather" car so in snow and ice fuggetaboutit. Gas mileage is reasonable for a car this size -- expect 19-21 in city driving and maybe 23.5 or so on highway. The sticker displays 29mph highway but this is total bullshit. Not happening, unless you are doing 100mph in the Mohavi desert without stopping for 10 hours. (LOL) This car has balls and is super responsive when you kick down on the gas. Unlike older generation cars that had lots of hp along with torque, this Impala flies. Handling is tight and seat comfort and posture control are superb. Heated and a/c seats are standard -- both driver & passenger. Sun roof is great and can open the entire length of the car into the back seat. Having owned Impala LTZ's since 2000, every 3 years, I can say that the 2014 is the absolute best of them all. A game changer. The sticker price on mine was $39,980 and while it may seem outrageous for a Chevy, this car is actually better than some more expensive competitive models. The overall value cannot be compared to much else out there. A good second choice is the LT2 without the sun roof and a few other "included" features on the LTZ. However, you MUST get the backup camera, even on the low-end LS or you are going to damage the car -- guaranteed. Overall, the LTZ gets a solid "A" -- an awesome car.

The acceleration is pretty good, though not blistering quick, and the sound under acceleration is awesome (for a V6). The car is quiet, but let's the 3.6L deliver a very nice soundtrack, without becoming intrusive to the cabin space. The car is quiet and composed, under daily driving conditions, but even when hard, it remains controlled and well-behaved. =)
I don't like American cars but the This is the best Impala Chevy ever made! I'm a Nissan man but I really like this Impala
@jreyman

I like American vehicles, and prefer those from GM, overall. I will say (in fair judgment) that Nissan does have one of the best looking cars (inside and out) from the Asian brand market. The Altima I drove [rental] was comfortable and well mannered, though it didn't have the throttle response I like and get from the Impala with a 3.6L V6. The powertrain of the Altima felt more comparable to that of an Impala equipped with the 3.5L V6. If I were forced to drive an Asian brand, daily, it would be an Altima. Between the Altima and the Impala, though, I'm still going to pick the Impala. It feels more comfortable to drive on long trips, and I like the styling, handling and performance better.

Lmaooo, thanks for the joke...are you 65?...Buddy there's the Lexus RC-F,Nissan Skyline,Lexus LS460(compare that to your impala).Toyota Avalon,Not much of a Honda guy but there's the Honda Accord or the Acura lineups...You should become a comedian.
I really hope this car lives up to it's claims in the long-term, it seems well-built without any GM nickel-and-dimeing, but everyone liked the Citation at first too.

I don't know guys this car is getting tons of praise from people everywhere. I keep reading the same things over and over. It appears they got it right with this model. I am car shopping and I loved this. However, it's out of my price range and I will probably go with something else. To me it was one tick below some Cadillacs.

Oops, I am actually referring to the 2015.
Bought a 2015 CPO Impala LTZ this July 2018. Traded-in my 2008 LTZ. LOVE this newer Impala!!! Like my '08, it's a beautiful Burgundy-Metallic, with Black leather interior. EVERY option except the Radar-cruise. The 20" wheels really set off the car Imo. It's a lot quieter & feels sportier. Interior is much more luxurious & cavernous. Trunk is huge! I'm 6'2.5", 250lbs, with a longer torso, so headroom is an issue for me. I can sit in the rear seats just fine!!!! Lots of legroom too! That simply NEVER happens with me! It cruises beautifully @ 80mph. Acceleration is much better, especially in the mid-rpm range. I know my way around a buffer, & can keep a car fairly swirl-free. Clay-barring 2-3 times/year keeps the paint sooooooo smooth. People's heads turn when they see my new baby!

I did not like the very light feel of the steering wheel at high speed. The navigation screen did not pop up and salesman could not figure out what was wrong. Other than that, for the price Its a beauty! Now go try the KIA Cadenza! That was really nice too.
what about the steering & handling?
It seems like with the yrs 13’-18’ models the sticker price is relatively the same amount. So if u get an impala u basically should go for the 18’ model.

OMG today we test drove the Impala LTZ and it was AMAZING inside but nothing to wow you for the price, the steering wheel was really light there was no road noise but the engine noise was there actually my fathers old 2008 Toyota Aurion makes less engine noise than this but more road noise, sadly because of this reason tomorrow we are going to test the Infiniti Q50 to see if that makes less overall noise.

The glorious sound that the GM 3.6L V6 makes is music to the ears and soul. You are most likely not a car person, and you definitely have no soul. You go ahead and waste your money on that overpriced Nissan. That impala deserves someone worthy of driving it.
@sweetdreams1DIAM0ND
10 жыл бұрын
jreyman this is not a sports car to enjoy the engine noise, well for me the engine noise is not that cool to sacrifice a quiet ride and actually Infiniti Q50 is one of the best sport sedans out there and its worth every penny, the engine is more powerful with better cooling, the technology inside is way better and the build quality everyone knows a Nissan is better built than a Chevrolet, and here the Impala LTZ costs $53000 while is Q50 S is $70000 and after 5 years the Impala will be 20000 while the Q50 S will be 45000.

Sat in one today......was glad to get back in my 2013 accord EX-L v-6 :)
Exactly. In this case the bow is too big. No doubt they have a better car than in previous years and it's obviously going to be a good selling car.
Like Ford does not put a huge blue oval, BMW sticks those roundels ALL over their cars, Mercedes has tri-stars all over the place, etc. The test car had a black leather interior, that's a pretty standard interior color.
I have not tried the new Impala but I may have to say that the interior is not a boring place to be. Nonetheless, there is nothing classy about the outside. The exterior looks bulky and somewhat ackward at the rear and front. The profile is quite interesting.
Its a big improvement over the last Impala, but I don't think this new one is a segment leader yet,...IMHO.
Test drive a VW CC. The new Passat is very nice but it has been Americanized just for us.
Yes, it is an improvement, but it definitely does not match the quality of the Avalon. Good review, other than your opinion of its exterior looks.

Yes....I think a lot of people are unaware of the problem....I discovered every time it would rain, my trunk well where the spare tire is would be full of water.....I was shocked the first time I discovered it....However, I did some research on google and found out that it is a common problem with this model....There have been several complaints. I took my car to the Chevrolet Body Shop, and the told me it could be the linings or the seals where the tail light gasket is faulty......I had the tail light gasket replaced on the left side, and still have the same problem....Overall, the Impala is a great car, but now a days, I park my car in the garage when ever it rains, or try to avoid driving it during rainstorms...

Been driving Volkswagen/Audi products for years. I formerly had a 2002 Oldsmobile Alero and close friend has a 2005 Impala. Both of the American cars are cheaply made. I remember using a permanent black marker to repair spots on switches where the paint flaked off. I once went over a speed bump and had a window collapse into the door. The 2014 Impala has the "new" GM feel, but there is still cheapness evident. Audi makes wonderful, reliable engines and very sturdy bodies to surround them in.

He's driving it on a smooth country road. Take it to Philly and run over some lake sized pot holes, ruts, and other road imperfections then tell me how it rides. The Garmin system out does the Onstar system hands down. The giant yellow Chevy badge on the ugly steering wheel is also annoying. Nice looking car but that's all it is.

Joe Spina the noise dampening system dual paned glass and suspension in the new impala is amazing. Impalas have always been a smoother ride than most vehicles.
The next Maxima perhaps. The present on is a bit long in the tooth.
I prefer the Ford Taurus but this is still pretty nice.
Aww they changed the turn signal sound :(
The impala has a very long history. It's been around since 1958 and was the best selling car selling over a million a year in the 60s. Has the ford fusion sold millions? Does the fusion have a long history? No. The fusion is just a boring normal car. I would much rather have the impala.
Nice car but they are using them as rental cars. Saw 15 at Atlanta airport last week. GM said that wouldn't happen. Anyway, $40,000 for an Impala. Nope
CC is nice. But the new impala is nice too. I have sat in just about every VW on the market today ten times over. (My family are all VW people.) And again mercedes does not compete with chevy. You compared a Mercedes c300 a compact sedan to an impala a full sized sedan. If you were to compare a full sized mercedes to an full sized impala the mercedes would be about 100k more.. I love german cars but you got to give credit where its due. Chevrolet has finally started building nice cars again.
I miss the utilitarian look that the impala used to have :/
I the beginning i thought what a bullshit old man car....i was so wrong. this is really amazing car. I wish it had a rear wheel drive and more HP, i would still driving this car...!
I hate the steering wheel and the xts caddy is built off the same drive train but offered with front wheel drive or all wheel drive . Be nice of the impala had all wheel and a v8
As you said "in its class", there is Toyota Avalon. Historically, Toyota translates to: quality, value for your dollar, zero or at least minimal repair costs, and when you are finally ready to sell, high resale value. Historically, and i mean the last 30+ years, Chevrolet Impala translates to: ATTENTION K-MART SHOPPERS. Finally , it is a very nice car, but; it's a Chevy Impala and not an Avalon. If Impala wants to compete with Avalon, then it must develop a new history.
40k wow. Rather get a Acura or a Lexus for that price. Plus likely will half it's value in couple of years.

Uh I sat in three new impalas and none of them creaked like that. And why the hell are you comparing a mercedes to a Chevy? Mercedes is luxury, Of course its going to be nicer. Chevrolet is mainstream. After spending an extended amount of time with the new impala it feels every bit as sturdy as a mainstream German brand like Volkswagen.
Nice car, just not made in America, when they move production from Canada back to America I'd consider one.
I think I'd take a maxima over this, but certainly as nice product.

lol, handsome car
I wouldn't pay that much for this car.
Its already squeaky. You can hear the plastic squeak when he presses the button to raise the LCD on the central console. You can just tell that all that cheap fake plastic "chrome" bits and fake plastic wood bits feel cheap. Despite having lots of fake leather and "stitches" all over the dash and doors, you cant escape from the fact that underneath that is brittle, cheap, squeaky plastic. Sit inside an Impala after an Audi A4 for example, and you'll be afraid to touch stuff not to break it.
I think you could fill in almost any name and still be true, don't you? Reality is they are all throw away disposables these days.
The big bow tie on the front grille is a turnoff. We know its a Chevy, get rid of it. Offer better choices of interior colors and replace the cheapie imitation wood trim with real wood and I could go for this. Other than that I'm impressed with this car.
What you mean?
Where's V8?
all you're doing is spouting the bonehead lines you learned on TV. Today's Toyotas are constantly recalled and GM reliability is right near the top now. Toyota is yesterday's news.
The new Accords have gotten oh so cheap with their interiors with all the acres of black plastic.
in russia this car will cost from U.S. $ 83,333. regular annual salary of $ 6,000 (utilities are $ 2,000 per year). How can you live? I want to live in America.
