@TREADtheglobe Hello Chris and Marianne...since you are in India, try to go visit Pakistan as well... If you enter thru Wagah border...the closest city of Lahore is the most historical. Northern Pakistan has breathtaking natural beauty...three mountain ranges converge in the north...the Himalayas, Karakoram and Hindukush. There're many valleys, lakes, river, orchards, glaciers, little mountain towns, etc. If you go to the northern border with China...central Asian countries are within a few hours drive from there. Maybe you can get some kind of transit visa for a few hours, just to drive thru the corridor from Pakistan to a central Asian nation. Then you can continue your drive thru central Asia as you had previously planned ‼

They made the wrong road choice. Instead of getting into Highways and express ways they opted to use small town and country roads. They should know that India is a country of 1.4 Billion population, so the town roads are definitely crowded. Nothing to be surprised about.

Hi guys, I am Amit from India. I really appreciate your decision/guts to drive through India. It is super hard, fustrating, mentally straining and super super dangereous to drive here. People/ vehicles/two wheeled motorcycles/cars/cows/goats/dogs/e rickshaws etc etc can literally pop out from any where on road , even from top of your vehicle also😂. people love here to overtake from ALL sides of the road, most preferably from the left and this becomes a very dangerous scene mostly 2 wheelers and cars. one needs to keep an eye on both sides of road (calculating and predicting the moves of the people standing on the edge of road) instead of focusing on the centre and traffic ahead. drivers here hava a very bad habbit of swaying and turing on any available side left or right without giving any indication (specially the two wheelers /e rickshaws and they do not regret their move at all). People honk a loooooot they simply loooove it infact they subconsciously honk it . (It is getting into our DNA now)😂. What i think the reason for honking is that the driver do not honk to make the vehicle ahead to move or to take any action, but to simply make him aware that there a vehicle at his back and not try to do any monkey business on the rod swaying, turing or suddenly break checking the vehicle behind. this honking has now become a defense strategy or a survival technique now. Pot holes can really damage the suspension of vehicle, do mark any repair workshops on maps for your route. Indian weather is unforgiving specially may and june in north india. Do not eat any street food or drink water which is not packed. I would suggest to get 5 to 10 L of water boiled for drinking at ur hotels. being healthy and keeping safe is of utmost priority. all the very best for the journey ahead. By the way do you have plans to visit kanpur en route. I live in Kanpur (uttar pradesh) love to have a 5 mins with you guys... stay safe.

Hi guys, I just stumbled upon your great adventure video. I observed 2 things: 1. Toll payment: In India, the toll is deducted electronically via an RFID Fastag, tagged to your vehicle plates/number. Since it's from the UK you can't obtain them. The rule is to pay double the toll if you don't have the Fastag. So, you'd have to pay double for tolls. 2. Mobile connection: In India, movble connections are pretty cheap. I would suggest you visit a JIO center and get yourselves 2 prepaid sim cards. If you're in Kolkata again, please do let me know. I would love to help you. Welcome to India!

Pakistan was part of India long ago, but it is much cleaner. Similar people but different outcomes. But some young people in Mumbai are starting to clean up the rivers and ocean front. Maybe things will change for the better if more young people take pride in their country.

I lived and worked there for 5 years and was able to see all of the country, even hard to get into places, like Kashmir (at that time you needed a special permit), through my work contacts. It's an incredible country and you put up with all its foibles because it's got so many incredible sights and such wonderful people. And the Ganges, at sunrise, in Banaras (as it's my habit to call Varanasi), is one of the great sights.

I think we could all write a book, on this episode alone!....Like the last one, it's been an absolute thrill ride. And talking of "Stealth Cow" Chris, that should be Marianne's new nickname. She's taken the bull by the horn, and mooving through that traffic like a udder native. She's a fully fledged Scru(tinous) driver now!

For viewers who might have formed an impression of India based on these videos, let's avoid overgeneralizing. The city chosen to land in and the journey to Mumbai may depict a specific region, but India's landscape and culture vary significantly across its states. While the chaos on Indian roads can be daunting for newcomers, it's a reality we've adapted to. Recognizing this complexity is essential. India's space program, like NASA's research, contributes to scientific advancement and national development, independent of on-ground realities. Just as different aspects of a country can coexist, so too can technological achievements and the hustle of daily life. So, while acknowledging India's complexity and challenges, it's important not to paint the entire country with a broad brush based on limited perspectives.

NASA hasn't done anything to the development of your grassroots. It's just an absurd comment to justify the negatives. I have travelled India widely, only a few cities have developed but once you get out of the city perimeter its ridiculously bad. I have travelled Tanzania, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Kenya and Mozambique but absolutely super motorways to travel. Unfortunately, India is one of the filthiest countries I have ever been to.

The idea of a digitally lnked wi-fi fast TAG card is to reduce crowding and speed up throughputs at the Toll Gates, and also for increasing compliance. This actually helped in the busier routes like those around New Delhi. To implement fast TAg faster, it is correctly decided that cash toll shall be charged twice the normal rate. You could have simply bought a TAG card which is easy and fast to get, stuck it up on your front windscreen, and zoom through the tolls without discussion. No rockets here !

In India, all tolls are cashless since few months. So if you are paying by cash then there will be a penalty. To Pay cashless, you need to have a fastag sticker on your vehicle which will be linked to your bank account and the money will be debited as and when you pass through a toll booth. I am not sure of the formalities as to how you can get a fastag for a vehicle without Indian registration. If you get one installed then things will be very easy for you.

What the man at the toll booth was saying is the FastTag. It is issued by the Indian Govt. and is mandatory to be in every vehicle. It is basically an RFID tag that you paste in front of your windshield. The Fasttag has a wallet that can be recharged. When you are at a toll booth, you need not pay cash and the cameras at the toll scan the Tag and automatically deduct the money from your FastTag wallet. However, if you do not have the FastTag and pay by cash, you need to pay double the toll amount as penalty. For eg, if your toll is Rs.50, you would need to pay Rs.100 in cash. However, I don't know if you can get a FastTag on a foreign vehicle and recharge it if you don't have an Indian bank account.
