Driving On The NEW Uber Eats Driver App

Uber Eats just finalized a driver app update that will result in MORE orders being sent to drivers, but are they going to be quality orders? This update just happened and in this video I go over important things to watch in the coming weeks.

Hey dude, thanks for the vids and info I've been driving Uber Eats in LA for 3 weeks now. The first weekend I averaged $22 an hr. 2nd week I averaged $32 an hr and last week I averaged $43 dollars an hr I drove for 18hrs and made $782 last weekend. I went out for a short drive on July 5th last night and made $120 in 3 hrs so $40 an hr. I don't take less that $7 unless it's like $6 for 1/2 a mile and no more than 15 minutes but generally, I aim for a 3-1 ratio and drive during the busiest periods 11am-3pm than 5pm until 11pm. I drive Fri/Sat/Sun. I also try and get in the Surge and Promo areas. Aiming for my first 1k week this week. This is only on Uber Eats App. In the process of signing up for Doordash they had too many drivers in my area.

I have begun accepting some of those marginal PostMates orders. I noticed that more often than not the customer does add a tip (or increased the tip) after the trip. My focus has always been customer service and communication and it's working out very well for me. Almost 25% of my customers come back and increase the tip post delivery. I get a ton of fare adjustments in the right direction. Maybe it's just my market. But in my opinion if you up your customer service it really pays off big. And it doesn't cost you any time or gas.

Hey Mike, DoorDash is dead to me in my marketplace now. There are so many Dashers in my area because it has gone viral to become a Dasher. As a result, DoorDash always says my marketplace isn’t busy. I’m not a top Dasher, so I can’t dash any time I want. If I wanted to become a top dasher, I’d have to have a 70% acceptance rate, which is insane. I also can’t schedule any dashers. As soon as it turns to midnight, all the dashing spots are scheduled immediately. There are consistently 0 spots to schedule any dashes. So RIP my marketplace.

This was a great thought process for cherry picking, which is absolutely a must. Amount, miles, time, store of pickup, and general familiarity of destination listed are all in play and you have 30 seconds to decide. I love making decisions. And yes, you certainly may loosen requirements if small-ball orders keep coming in. And, I try to stay away from locations that carry alcohol unless it is already a strong tip.

Trust me, I have this internal battle accepting low paying orders as well. The economy is changing again and it is causing a change in the delivery market for sure. It was bound to happen whenever restaurants started opening back up. I have seen a decline in earnings and a decline in peak pays. Also the markets around me seem to have an abundant amount of drivers. If I drove closer to Charlotte it doesn't seem to be a problem getting orders, but my local markets are pretty saturated and I haven't made much money driving lately.

Technically, no. I don't think they will deactivate drivers with acceptance rates they don't like, etc. However, I've noticed that the algorithm seems to notice when you're getting smarter about where to & how much you'll drive for............& seems to actively try to discourage this behavior (since this kind of discernment benefits drivers...but not necessarily UberEats). When I started getting smart, I could make $150-$230 in 5 or 6 hours (I'm still learning lol).....but now, the app throws me so many trash orders (which I obviously decline) that I spend so much of my time sitting around waiting or jumping back & forth btwn apps until Uber decides to throw me an order where I'm MAKING $ instead of losing it or breaking even. My acceptance rate has plunged into the 20% range since they started doing this - & I'm pretty sure I'm now getting penalized by the algorithm for this as well, now. 😮‍💨🙄 Personally, I think their algorithm is designed to benefit ONLY Uber....even at the expense of their own drivers, if necessary. Not sure if I wanna continue doing this full-time anymore for much longer. Maybe just as a side gig..

uber eats in my area (eastern long island) is pretty much non stop from the second I turn the app on. your advice videos have helped me a LOT in maximizing dollars/time. I admit though that I DO accept quite a few of the low amount orders. But my reason for that is I find I am getting 2 to 3 pickups form the same place at the same time, so they add up because the drop off points are within blocks of each other every time. doing that and adding your pointers, i find myself making average $20 hour profit after gas).

When orders keep getting declined, they won’t be picked up as fast, but Uber Eats will also increase the base pay for that particular delivery when someone decides to pick the order up. For example 2.50c delivery could end up getting to 7 dollars if so many people keep declining, and the base pay for that would be roughly 7 if there are so many people declining.

I am wondering if you know what happens to your Tips if you accidentally do not swipe delivered or your phone crashes but yet you still deliver the item to the customer and then call customer service to report that you were not able to close out the delivery? The first time I did this I did not take a picture and I left it was my first delivery and I got nervous and forgot what I was supposed to do! Lol and then I was told I was not tipped after I called customer service and then a couple days ago I had a doubleA double order and when I was trying to take a picture I drove away in the app crashed and I did not go back and call the second customer and delivered the items and then I called customer service.
