Driving JAMES BOND'S Aston Martin DB5 with all the WORKING GADGETS!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
This is James Bond's Aston Martin DB5, with all the real working gadgets! Aston Martin have let me get behind the wheel of the new DB5 Goldfinger Continuation which has been built to match the famous BMT 216A from the movies, loaded with features like the front machine guns, smoke screen, radar system and more. Let's check it out!
The DB5 is the definitive James Bond car, which will feature in No Time To Die, the 25th 007 movie and the 8th time the car will be appearing, this time alongside a trio of other Aston Martin models. The original car is of course a 1960s DB5 Saloon, of which 900 were built in total but the Goldfinger Continuation is in fact a brand new car! Built at Works in Newport Pagnell, the original Aston Martin factory, a total run of 25 identical Silver Birch models featuring the full array of Q's gadgets are coming.
The new cars are built in every way to mimic the originals, using the same materials, techniques, scanning of original parts, and even in the same halls. With the first car being a prototype, it is the only ever opportunity to drive one on the road as the production cars will not be road legal - given 1960s standards do not conform to modern regulations. It follows from the 25 DB4 GTs and 19 DB4 GT Zagatos that have been built as Continuation models, with 25 chosen to match the number of Bond films.
Kicking off at Stoke Park, home to some of the movie scenes, I'm on the road in the new-classic DB5 to head towards Aston Martin Works to then explore the gadgets in full. The features we can demo include the machine guns at the front, rotating number plates, battering rams, bullet proof screen, oil slicks, smoke, radar, ejector seat roof and more. These were all the ideas for Q back in the Goldfinger movie, now brought back into life for the customers of the new DB5 Goldfinger Continuation model.
Thanks for watching, Tim

Hey tim, it doesn't get more british than this!
I remember back in 1964 the original James Bond DB5 came to Nottingham and was on display in Truman's showroom on Huntingdon Street. I was 16/17 and went along with my camera. There was also a very nice model in a gold lame cat suit whom I took some photos of. I was also allowed to have a sit in the car. Happy memories.
This has to be the coolest and most beautiful car ever made, I really do think that more car companies need to modernize the old classics like this, surely this experience makes you want to add a vintage or a classic car to the shmeemobiles! Also does that mean there isn't one road legal version out of the 25? Such a shame
I’m surprised that after all years that Shmee hasn’t driven a Mclaren F1 yet but only time will tell 🙏🏽🤔🤔

Wow! Simply Wow! What a machine! I worked for a little while in restoration of Alfa Romeo mainly GTV's and Giulia's and I can so appreciate how they're going about building these DB5's, they are truly doing these right. Well done!
I used to work in Newport Pagnell and it was always a treat walking past this Aston garage
This was one of the best things I've ever watched. Very nostalgic. Thanks Shmee
Wow that is an amazing experience! Extremely jealous! 😫🙌🏽

I am speechless WOW 4500 hours £2.5 million its the only car (DB5) THATS BUILT BY HAND AND EYE'S worth £2.5 million the most gorgeous car I've seen in a long time 👍 thank you Shmee made my evening 🇬🇧
What a beautiful car. Growing up until about 10 yrs ago we had a 1966 Triumph TR4a IRS. Dials and wheel look much like those! Loved driving that car! In HS it was really cool!
That was amazing to watch thank you Tim for sharing.
Awesome video Tim!!! Great as always.
It really is a beautiful iconic car. Glad you got a chance to review and share it with everyone.
Great video Shmee! I enjoy your style of cinematography. It is very personal, as if I was sitting with you. Some of the other You-tubers videos seem over produced by comparison. I have many fond memories of this car as I was five when the movie premiered. Thanks!
O. M. G. As both a classic car and a monstrous classic Bond fan, I absolutely love it...LOVE IT. Thank you so much, Shmee. :)
Enjoyed your review on this DB5. Keep up the good work!
Wow! The handcrafting is amazing. 4000 hours, no wonder the ownership price is so high. Nice to see that Aston Martin had the wherewithal to actually bring this model to fruition again. Beautiful car for a very fortunate few. As per usual, nice job Tim.👍👍

I was 11 years old when I first saw Goldfinger in the theatre. It's meaningful to see this when Sean Connery has just passed. I remember how excited I was to see that movie like it was yesterday.

Fantastic, what a superb creation. We are lucky that Aston Martin has the balls to do this , I bet they are all sold as well .I’m sorry Mr Schmee but this knocks spots off your collection of cars with perhaps the exception of your personal Aston Martin , thank you for a brilliant video ,really enjoyable 👍👍👍
