Driving his TURBO LS for the FIRST TIME! + How much did it COST!? | [The Turbo Tonner] - Ep6.

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Welcome back to The Turbo Tonner build series.
Come with us as we take this already stout street car and look to punch above the goal of 500rwhp.
After a massively successful day on the dyno @ Tune Corp, now its time to catch Rob's reaction driving his 625hp Turbo LS1 for the first time. It's absolutely priceless! Once we get back from the drive , we're going to give you all at home a run down of exactly how much it has cost to take this from a 420rwhp cam only LS1 to the fire breathing turbo monster it is now.
Check it out, and leave us a comment with your feedback.

    Torq Hub Media hey guys can I get your email I’m building my L77 here in malaysia would really like your advice and maybe help me source parts from Australia for my built. I’ve already got a GTX4202r turbo to be fitted. So will need the performance parts to go with this built. Looking at 700-750hp on e85 preferably stock internals it’s a drift car built .... cheers guys 🙏🏾

    Thanks for watching Bullzai, you'll make that power very easily with the fuel and turbo you mentioned providing you have a competent efi tuner familiar with the platform. We recommend turbosmart plazmaman, pwr as well as many other Australian manufacturer for any of your turbo kit specific parts that you need. Is there anything in particular you're struggling to find that you need to get from Australia?

    @@bullzaihamdan111 l77 motors aren't normally chosen to be turbocharged that often mainly due to the smaller tuning windows the standard cooling system allows, so a few things I'd suggest are a colder thermostat better steam port cooling, rockers because the trunions won't stand 700hp and you might as well buy rockers with trunions already installed, keep in mind the LS platform rockers are an off centre fulcrum so use "perfect fit" pushrods (standard is fine mostly) Switch the timing chain tensioner to an LS2 style for reliability Keep in mind the standard piston ring gap is tight so you'll need to do good heat exchange so a highly efficient radiator and intercooler are advised. Port the heads as they have really heavy duty valve guides that are quite happy until you start pushing lift over .670 but run stronger valves (stainless preferred) And if you want to bring your compression up deck the heads 30 thou, that'll take you to about 10.8 - 10.7. Although I dont advise this for turbocharging on standard internals as your piston speed will go through the roof and your cylinder pressures will climb and you'll spin a bearing... I think that covers the l77 Hope something helps :)

    You said you put in a mellings stock volume hi pressure oil pump what was the reason for this over a hi volume hi pressure ? Thanks in advance !

  • @TorqHub

    @TorqHub

    3 жыл бұрын

    I think the theory Rob went with was that the volume of oil that the LS moves is plenty enough for lubrication, but adding the extra devices could see a slight reduction in pressure across the system. So using a higher pressure relief spring would ensure plenty of oil being pushed to the turbo and flooding the bearings, while not washing oil past too quickly.
