pro tip : you can watch series on Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using it for watching loads of movies during the lockdown.

Great road trip Dax. Just in time before covid lockdown i guess. This was in a SR+? Impressive. This gives me confidence i should be able to do road trips to NY well when things open up i guess.

It’s always advisable, but the Tesla computer is amazingly accurate.

Thankfully you got there and back just before the chaos of the pandemic.

I am watching this in Oct 2022 and enjoyed your video and information. One thing it would have been nice to mention the interstates and roadways you took but overall good job.

I noticed that Canadian drivers are the only drivers do the speed limit here at Buffalo

No we didn’t have any traction issues in the snow. Even as cold as it was the car was solid. Amazing for a RWD car.

Nice video Dax. Question: How did you guys handle all the tolls on the way. I am planning the same trip this year, we live in Niagara, but I am kind of consuse about all the tolls transporders that will be necessary. Thanks in advantage!

Surprisingly we didn’t have a single toll (if I remember correctly). The GPS/route must have been set to avoid tolls.

That was a stealth PPF wrap. It was approx $4,000 for the whole car.

Hilarious-where you set your display to miles is right where I walk past, at about that same time of day, on certain days when I charge. Wouldn't it have been something to wave, "Oh, hi Dax & family!" . . . 😂

I do look forward to the day when we get our first EV but battery tech is advancing so quickly I would want to wait a bit yet plus charge time and infrastructure needs to catch up first. It seems like too much planning to do a road trip in an EV presently.

I thought the border was closed in Feb. 2020 . How did you get across

I wasn’t. The border didn’t close until March. We did the trip just 2-3 weeks before the pandemic was announced. We were lucky.

The car had winter tires on during the trip. I didn’t want to take the chance of rubbing into some snow throughout the northern states and not have good snow tires on.

Ya snow tires don’t have the same compound designed for warm weather, but with that said, I was fine in the highways in Florida and on the way back north. I think the important part is not to be driving at crazy speeds. Regular highway speeds were fine for me and my family.

@@markbsb7176 Last year we did Chicago, Memphis, New Orleans, Nashville and Dayton Ohio. 5200 Kms it was a great drive in the Model 3.

Martin Berntsen have you had a Tesla long? Because I couldn’t stand the ridiculously inaccurate range on the display and changed it to % of charge after just a couple of weeks. If I’m ever curious I just look at the energy screen’s projected range. It is much more accurate.

Martin Berntsen maybe the fact that I drive mostly on the highways at high speed, limit is 65-70 mph, so 100-120kph? It may drain the battery faster that way. Do you drive on surface streets more often?

The area I live in only has about 50 - 80 kph speed, and I drive some in town. Very varied

Took a trip from NF USA to Toronto for the Auto Show. Was painfully surprised 300 mile range was more like 150 real world. We couldn't even make it round trip without stopping to charge. While AP does make it much more enjoyable. I'm still convinced ICE has a huge advantage on trips especially in colder temps. Mercedes now has auto lane change, and Kia's lane centering and cruise is phenomenal. I'm starting to think AP is overrated just due to the name. Glad you made it before they shut down!!
