I run straights on my 5.0 explorer.... I get strange looks from other explorer drivers just because of the rumbling backfire

Looks like fun. I can't tell for sure but it looks like you were using U-bolt style exhaust clamps. If you go with some band style clamps it will be a little easier to pull apart. The U-bolt style distorts the pipes which makes it harder to pull them apart. The band style clamps cost more but don't distort the pipes like the U-bolt clamps. Or if you want it really easy to pull go with some V-band clamps.

I had a 79 f250 with a 351. The exhaust broke off from rust so it just had its long tube headers and nothing else. it sounded like driving a plane with the windows down on the highway

Protip! When you put clamps on your exhaust, notch the ends of the exterior pipe so it doesn't crush under the clamp like that. Also, band clamps are the best things ever as they sit flat against the tube and disperse pressure all the way around rather than just across 2 points. V-bands are king, but if anything bends or warps I find them impossible to line up again (curse you saab!).

Well, we ripped the engine out anyways for the rebuild. With the engine out, it was much easier to get to the trans. To find the trans, we just looked up a rebuilt t5 on craigslist

Probably won't reply but in the beginning of the video are you putting bigger jets in the carb to run open pipes without harming your motor ?

over time I wonder if not having any back pressure is hard on the valves. I Geuss all you would have to do to check is pull a plug and use a scope camera to see.

If I were you, I'd get full tailpipes made so it's quieter in the cab. Then when you want it loud, install some cutouts right before the mufflers, no clamping and unclamping. Also, make sure the mufflers are fully under the bed. They'll drone more if they're under the cab.

Dont worry the 3 on the tree 70 ranger i have backfires like crazy too, i think its just the e on the tree in general

You should add exhaust cut outs where your muffler slips off. It will be a lot easier than taking the mufflers off every time.
