Driving a 1300HP Sandrail at Glamis Dunes - wheelies, jumps, and drag racing!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
The GLAMIS sand dunes are absolutely incredible! I had no idea what I was getting myself into with this trip to the dunes to experience what my family loved so much about it. The best part, I got to experience DRIVING a 1300hp twin turbo LS sand rail. It was an absolute riot.

First time watching a video from your channel and have to say I was genuinely smiling and laughing with you when you drove the 1300hp rail. You seem like a very genuine, down to earth guy and I wish nothing but the best for you. Good luck! Have fun!

@@sandeater06 I agree they are very ugly haha. But that ugly is what made them iconic. I'd go Gen 6 with a simple 6.0 build

Whats all the clicking and rattling noise? King Shocks?
@DoctoredGarage
Жыл бұрын
I think it's the suspension limiter straps rattling/tapping on the frame. I couldn't find anything loose from the suspension or axles when I first noticed it.

It's the external bypass shocks in the rear. They have small metal check valves in those tubes on the sides that open and close oil passages but make noise.
what about the missiles? 1:14

Those are upgraded "tip tanks" - fuel tanks that mount on the wing tips of an airplane. They just came back from paint, so he keeps them covered with that cloth to make sure the new paint doesn't get damaged until after the get put on the plane ha

From where I sit, you are a complete wussy. Safe in your cage, great horsepower to weigh ratio, something near to my new Raptor 700R that's tweaked. Get out of the cage, put on your motocross gear, and do something that's actually dangerous. You're a big bad boy. In your dreams.
No helmets dude??

I was surprised by this too - I brought my helmet that I use in my drift car, but found that pretty much nobody wore helmets in sandrails unless they were doing some big serious stuff, and we were taking it pretty easy. I didn't have a way to add a headset to my helmet, so I left it at camp and trusted the other guys. The side by sides were a different story, they had fresh air systems and you needed helmets otherwise you were breathing in a lot of dust.
At one point you showed a "Witch's Eye", yes, they are dangerous, but you did not mention an even more dangerous sand feature. It is a "Razor Back". The sand will form what looks like a ocean wave as it is breaking. It is rounded on one side, but very sharp on the other. You are traveling along and all at once you find yourself out in thin air with a lot of space below. You just don't bomb off on the dunes without knowing how they form and what to look for. You passed a few on your travel, but did not point them out. You learn the easy way be following somebody who knows the dunes or you learn the hard way. The hard way hurts.

Ooo that's good to know. I'd like to do a whole other video showing witch's eyes and razorbacks, as well as how to avoid them. But I'm still learning the "how to avoid them" part hahaha
that's not a sand rail dummy. it's a sand car!!

Technically 1280hp ;) But that doesn't look as good as the title ha. It's close enough. Its what the previous owner and tuner advertised. What I don't know is if that's at the wheels or at the crank. Why don't you think that's accurate?

@@DoctoredGarage how it drives and all you have to do to get over 1000 horsepower. All these guys claim their rails are over a 1000 hp, some even say 2000.

Might've just been my driving, it was my first time driving a sandrail 😆 I think it was only the second trip for my dad in that sandrail too, so he was still getting used to it. If the 1280hp switch isn't flipped (which we didn't have flipped all the time), it's on a more conversative tune, and I have no idea what power level that is but it's less. There was a noticeable difference. Built LS7, twin turbocharged, and runs on 110+ octane. I've driven plenty of high powered and fast vehicles before, 1300 is believable to me.
