Driveway To The Crawl Space Is Finished

Ойын-сауық

Driveway to the crawl space is finished. Hauled in the last of the 3" base rock to cover the rip rap. We used a total of 30 loads of rock 14 loads of rip rap and 16 loads of 3" base. I will top coat it with 1" base rock when the house is finished. They shouldn't have any problem getting the concrete and lumber trucks in here now. More to come from this site soon. Thanks for watching! #EliteEarthworks #Takeuchi #Driveway

Brandon great job as usual, mate I was a little disheartened the other day when you were explaining the amount of work that is required post production and the fact that it takes a great deal of your time, to pump out the videos regularly. I can assure you that they are greatly appreciated and always get played by me as soon as I see an upload. I am a retired contractor, in my prime I was maybe a four to five man band with never enough equipment, but we got the jobs done. I am now incapacitated to a great degree and take great enjoyment out of watching others, especially younger folk, coming through and bashing a piece of shitty old ground into a usable space for whatever purpose. Those projects will stand the test of time and be appreciated by many generations, indeed you will be able to show your own Grand Children in years to come what Grandad used to do for a living. God Bless, stay safe for you Mrs Elite and the soon to be shovel hand. Take Care.

That’s a whole limestone cliff! Goodness, if that driveway sinks there’s not a prayer for any of them! I liked those drone shots… did you record sound through the drone? Or just synch it from another camera? The crawl space looked like a pond in the drone shots. There’s a fair amount of water in it. I was betting the loader would make an appearance after the last video. It sure makes spreading and finishing look a lot easier. We had 1 3/4” of rain on Friday night. These two days of sun and wind really dried it out. I hope it didn’t swamp you out.

Putting in a 14 by 22 pad for a shed for my next door neighbor (drive to work is 5 minutes), he thought 1 to 2 inches of stone. Really nice work Brandon. When I was first hiring guys to come in and build some of our roads as the $$ we had on hand was better from my own perspective, I couldn’t understand how much rock the road would take!!! I would complain to the contractors and annoyed the guy I eventually hired for 90% of my work. He offered me to make the decisions on one particularly bad stretch. I agreed but after a miserable spring the next year and after we pulled a couple loads of grain and feed trucks out of the mess “I” general contracted, I learned my lesson. I let the contractor do their job! He knew by feel driving over it and his experiences when we were getting close and his estimates got to be really accurate!! We didn’t use as much 3” initially as here, but almost all of our roads had ditches we paid to have dug and those tied in with the other ditches etc. there was definitely enough fall on most of our land that we could drain and control the water that way!!! Different system with the benefits of grade. Unfortunately we built the feedlot, associated pens and roads, on some very flat ground and the water needed to run down the roads and gradually through the pens in troughs or swales on the edges of the pens. The runoff was a BIG issue we had to watch because of the manure,,,,,,. Environment were very picky, respectfully, about not getting it into the natural runoff that eventually would make it to the creeks we had on our land. We had these huge concrete pits that would catch the slurry etc. that would get pumped out in the fall or early winter if it was warm enough still and be spread/injected into the soil in our fields. It was a nice side effect, but we really screwed up putting everything where we did!! We built roads like this here in your video and I almost cried at the amount of rock we hauled in there!!! 😂😂😂. We would use a new road and as the rock below shifted and locked together, of course the road dropped and we hauled MORE GRAVEL in,,, haha. If we got it right, those roads are still used today, daily with very heavy overloaded feed trucks (private land) and little to no issues. I did mention what the frost did to some areas though the other day to ya. Eventually you get there though. My contractor would see me shaking my head and remind me of “my first road” and I let him be!! He did so much work for us that we really did get great quotes from him and he stood by his work very well. Roads like this are $$$. Once they are worked in they are also very solid roads!! Where we could, we saved $$ on gravel and surface work, but paid for the ditch work instead! Do it right, do it once and be done!!! If the base isn’t there, as you have done so well here, the road will be constant work. Especially with the deep soil base there!! That’s going to look great with the new house in there once the landscaping is graded!! A good contractor a client can trust,,, priceless,,,,,. Not just you of course, but all good contractors. They do rise to the top and eventually get so busy they have to either grow or turn work away as they are comfortable with!! My guy had a crew of 3 generally and juggled 2-3 jobs at a time, no more. His work was timely and quality work. Like I have said many times,,, if you and I were in the same area, you would be my “go to” guy!! Stay safe, as usual!! Hoping spring is being good to you and your family!! Except of course for one apparent moment with the Fecon I see,,,,, 😂😂😂😂 uggh page wire!!!

That is a solid base, nice job, and nice work with your 2150 "exca-dozer" there spreading rock. Didn't know that thing would push that well! (Although I guess I should have, since I think it probably weighs twice as much as my little dozer.)
