I'm sure everyone considered Monohan a responsible gun owner until he shot and killed an innocent person in his driveway. Lots of "responsible gun owners" out there that are going to wind up turning their gun on themselves, their loved ones, or another innocent person.

I get that you're coming from a UK perspective on this, having been there a few times I can relate, but no, this is not a common thing. It's like singling out a single incident in the _entire_ EU (well, minus the UK with Brexit), and extrapolating that to mean everyone in the EU acts like that. A senseless murder and that man will likely die in prison.

I was driving down the road the other day. I saw a very expensive construction pickup on the road with a chain dragging from the axel. Obviously the truck was being repaired and the owner failed to remove the chain. If the chain would have got under the tire the damage could have been catistrophic. I wanted to do the right thing and get out and warn him. However in this day and age when everyone is assumed to be a threat I did not take any action because people like Kevin Monahan. Walking up to a stranger on the road, even trying to help is a recipe for disaster. Does not pay to be a good neighbor these days.

I live in Ohio and we are surrounded by a lot of rural area and there are times GPS signal gives out and I have had too many times turn around and driveways and because of this case I now worry about turning around and driveways and I even told my two grown daughters If you can avoid it just don't turn around and anyone's driveway because this is the type of people that we have on this earth that some of us couldn't even fathom before this event.... What a senseless killing not that any killing is not senseless but this one has really baffled and shocked everyone around the world and I cannot express my condolences enough to the family I couldn't imagine our heart literally breaks I'm so glad the judge found guilty and didn't do everything concurrent I mean even if it was an extra four or five years at least that part was consecutive I hope this man never sees the light of day. Any murderer in my opinion shouldn't have a chance at any type of life as they should be lucky there at the very least breathing and get to see and speak to their family as where the victims and the victims families do not get that opportunity!!

Not that many years ago either the neighborhood or the relatives and friends of the victim wouldnt have called the police until that murderer got justiced by the people. Its a good thing that justice got served by the system, but stupid people like him oughta keep in mind that we, as a society, are not that far from taking justice by our own hands. Tolerance tends to get confused by weakness when in reality it shows the strenght of a society willing to overcome their basic instincts for the betterment of their nation, but when the pendulum goes too far, its guaranteed to come back with a vengeance, and theres not enough police forces to protect criminals from the ire and raw rage of the people, there never was and never will. The police is there not just to protect us, but also to protect you from the people, you better believe it, to heart.
