Flashes of light in Waycross yard caused by power lines touching as an outer band of Hurricane Idalia passes with wind gusts and heavy rain. Outer bands with this storm were as far as 280 miles from the center.

Love these Grab Bags! Little Red and Yellow Caboose - Cute. Nice Paintings or Photos at Austell on the fence. The Darwins at LaGrange really had me holding my breath and then screaming right afterwards. Just Wow for those people.

Thanks again VRF. Executive livery SD 70MAC's BNSF 9830 & 9761 at Fort Madison and another at Chehalis - spot-on. I also liked seeing down the street to the right, at Fort Madison. That Bear was very cautious at crossing the Railroad and the Highway (something the Darwin's might like to try) Also, he/she didn't seem to be walking too easy and I wondered if the Bear might have been injured recently.

Revy the Bear certainly takes her/his time crossing a normally busy highway.

Had to go looking to see what Amtrak 521 there after 9:06 is. Turns out be not be Amtrak's first loco numbered 521, an SDP40F previously carried it. Present 521 seems to be a GP38 variant created from a GP40TC used by CN. RRpicturearchives lists 521 as a GP38H-3.

They even did some work on Big boy 4014. Nickel Plate 587 is stored alongside C&O 2716, which is under restoration. 12:53 CEFX blue unit that hasn't been sold to NS yet. One with NS markings was seen a few grab bags ago. 13:03 an H3 GP60M and BN green SD40-2 trailing 13:33 Amtrak 160 "Pepsi" trailing on the Cresent, while a cop car pulled someone over 14:07 UP OCS with an AC44CW, SD70M, and 11 cars. I wonder what will happen to their E9s as they weren't with 3985, 5511, and 6936. 14:30 these DODX cars come in quite a few colors. I'm not sure if that's an attempt to somewhat disguise them, but that wouldn't make much sense because they look unlike other boxcars. 15:07 CSX 1976 leading 16:42 H3, Executive MAC, and warbonnet triple-heading a mixed freight 17:02 power flashes! I've seen a few videos of them happening randomly, maybe because the equipment is old, broken, or something got stuck on the wires. 17:50 empty Schnabel at the end of an intermodal 18:36 NS 8100, two UP units, and a KCS unit. NS 8114 and 4002 also pass by here leading their trains on the same morning 19:30 Amtrak 100 "Midnight", 108 "Red-head", 117, and 82 with combined Cardinal and Lake Shore Limited. NS had signalling troubles and the Lake Shore Limited consist is deadheading back to New York. Also four Phase III Viewliner IIs together of three different layout types 20:38 race between local job and through freight 21:37 CP heritage as one of three tail DPUs on a BNSF coal train 21:48 NS 8102 leading 22:15 four locomotives with five tank cars wait for a confused driver 23:02 Warbonnet towing the Empire Builder! It would be cooler if this happened on the Southwest Chief 23:16 hi-rail truck pulling articulated gondolas 23:44 Amtrak 203 leading the Coast Starlight 24:37 10-unit lash-up with two CN units on the front and a 25th anniversary GEVO trailing

Loved seeing a frog on the camera.

At 17:21 those were power flashes in Rice yard causing the power to go out because of the Hurricane pushing on shore.

It wouldn't surprise me if that train has "special" cargo and the caboose has a squad of Marines or Rangers assigned as a protective detail.

A+ Content ... That Bear remembered- noticed the caution at the crossing / Seems it recovered

The flashes around 17:02 onwards, look to be arcing on high voltage cables, most likely a combination of them being wet, and possibly phases touching together. If that happens, usually the cable will enter a fault state, and line end circuit breakers will shut off the power, which is possibly the really bright flash you saw at the end of the sequence. It would also explain the signal lights failing shortly after.

Passenger in the car crossing the track at 11:59 must have had a impressive view of the locomotive's coupler! This is S. Walnut Ave. in La Grange. Not only are there no gates, there are no crossing lights. Just a crossbuck above the street stop sign. The sight line for drivers to see a train are also completely blocked. Check it out on Google Street view.

This is S. Walnut Ave. in La Grange. Not only are there no gates, there are no crossing lights. Just a crossbuck above the street stop sign. The sight line for drivers to see a train are also completely blocked. Check it out on Google Street view.

The caboose w/the Schnabel car is used for accompanying technical support/security personnel for the load. In this case a Siemens Electrical item of very high value, susceptible to damage and almost certainly having excess dimensional and weight restrictions on its routing that must be closely monitored.

Yes, that happens once in a while. Good catch. If you put a : between your minutes and seconds only, it will make a usable time link. Like 16:45 and 23:30
