Caught on Camera! In this LIVE Golf Lesson watch Liam a student of Danny Maude learn the difference between a driver swing and an iron swing. In an earlier golf lesson Liam learnt how to stop slicing his driver and instead hit driver straight. In fact he learnt how to hit a draw with driver. You can watch that lesson here 👉 • Golfer FIXES SLICE & g...
Now he needed a slightly different golf swing to strike irons well. One small change using a very simple golf tip Liam improved his consistency and in his own words created what ge described as an easy golf swing.

ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On KZread and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

This golf lesson provides a couple of wonderful drills to help you hit your driver straight. If you are a beginner golfer and are looking for some golf driver tips that are simple and easy to do then you are going to love this.
I will show you the golf swing slow motion so that you can see what you need to do to improve.
We look at 3 things:
1. How to stop slicing your driver
2. How to swing more in to out or how to swing more inside out
3, How to get the correct impact position with driver
and I hope to do all this with simple golf tips so you can create an effortless golf swing
Hope you enjoy

An excellent, very helpful lesson. I have been playing for 30 years & did NOT realise there were TWO swings. I have had many lessons from professional golfers but nobody told me there was a difference between a driver & an iron swing. I knew I had to hit up with my driver & down with my irons. Age 78 years & still learning. Many thanks to Danny & Liam.

Showing his swing arc at the beginning was great. Then he listened carefully to your instruction and applied it. Having the obstacle helped him make the swing adjustment quickly. I could tell how pleased he was knowing there are different swing paths for irons and driver. Something I will be working on soon. I just found an indoor golf center in a city nearby, so I plan to try it while the ice melts around here (northern NY, near Montreal).

Love your over the shoulder series. Liam is a great student and this lesson perfectly describes how the average Joe is on/off with irons/driver. Grooving the swings to what you are hitting is no more complicated than using a different swing for putting versus irons versus wedges versus driver versus fairways/hybrids. As we learn to adjust the game gathers it’s wonderful multi-dimensional aspect.

This used to be ME! Driver was a big sweeping draw. Irons, I struggled with consistent strike, and direction. I stepped in a little closer to the ball, at setup, and just visualized swinging steeper. Left tilt helps with this, on backswing. Also, raising my arms higher during backswing is a good thought. And, just like Danny said, think up, instead of around. Now, you’re in the perfect position(plane) for the downswing. Just swing down, under, and through. This is where right side bend comes in. The down part keeps me in posture, and stomp weight into my left foot. The under gives you the right side bend/left side extension. The through makes you not forget to rotate, and finish with hips open, and chest facing the target. This changed my game, in the last year, or so.

One of the things I still struggle with on course is hitting behind the ball with the irons. Can make perfect practice swings with bottom of swing ahead and all the proper movements in terms of take away, turn, weight shift etc. with your help. Put a ball down there and something changes. Any advice or other videos you can point me to. Thanks so much DM. You've been a huge help to my game.

Very impactful because it's simple. And exactly what I have been doing with my iron swing, I've worked on the "over the top" move for years but no one has ever said that it is my body's correction for a too-flat backswing, thanks! Now, if I can only get that 240 carry driver swing. I've changed so much about my swing based on your lessons, I'm now knuckle-balling my driver (not swaying into impact formerly, so almost topping the ball with a good swing.) Thanks!

Love Liam's channel for the fun of golf and yours for brilliant instruction. It's great when you get together, an amateur golfer having a lesson, so relatable to what a lot of us do and yes, I'm hitting my irons out the park but driver 😱😱 the feel has gone again, oh well back to the driving range with my pro, it will take him all of ten minutes and a few videos to put me right 👍

Brilliant video. Exactly my issue with my irons. Although i hit a decent amount of straight iron shots, im doing some mad movements at the top of my swing to compensate and somehow get it back online. However, i want a proper swing so i can get the distance i need and this video has 100% helped.

Best video of yours Danny, this was brilliant! Whilst I'm the opposite, irons are better than driver, I could reverse your instruction in my head and hope to make it work at the range before hitting the course during the lighter months. Please do more of these, it's great seeing such a great player swing but seeing an amateur adjust really brings everything to life. Keep doing what you're doing Danny! Great work👍

Great videos and clear instructions - I have come back to game after a 20 year break and am looking to simplify and standardise my swing. Your videos are great but a quick question is - what is the ideal length of impact after the ball for irons? I am thinking around 2 inches? Many thanks

Great lesson Danny, Liam showed almost immediate improvement. I’m often amazed when I hear golfers passing on incorrect advice regarding iron swing v driver swing when it’s so obvious that you hit down with irons and up with driver. I follow Liam so I’m looking forward to watching his improvement on course now. He certainly hits his driver more consistently after his lesson with you. Thank you for reinforcing these basic skills 👍🏻🇦🇺

Liam was a good student Danny! He followed your instructions and he was able to convert his old rounded iron swing to a more vertical one. I, too, have gone to a more vertical swing with my irons and have seen an improvement. On my driver swing, the only thing I had to change was my backswing to a just below the right shoulder position. Good Job! Keep up the good work!!!

Thanks Danny for this video, this explains why my irons have changed since a recent driver lesson, I’m still struggling with both my hybrid and my fairway wood, I know I should be hitting down with both of them, but I’m so inconsistent. Should I be using an iron swing similar to using my 6 iron ?
