ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On KZread and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

Just saw this excellent video. This concept of disassociation is missing from most teaching. I know I am so focused on concepts like "connection" and "synchronizing the arms and body" that I never have my arms swinging freely. More videos stressing this one point would be very helpful. Thanks!

I picked up golf seriously three years ago. In those three years, my driving has been the most inconsistent club, and in the best of times the I would shoot fades with it, more often than not though I shot slices if I didn't completely slow down my swing and hope for a 200 yard shot. I watched this video last night, and in my 9 hole round at my typical course today, I had 4 of the best drives of my life (260-290yd, onto the fairway), 2 OK ones (220-240, just off the fairway) and one awful drive (first tee box jitters). I hope this is not just lightning in a bottle, and I can maintain this. It helped that I hit a bucket of balls on the range first of course. Thank you Danny, I look forward to seeing more of your videos.

I experience something similar to this. A baby fade with the irons and a general slice on my driver/3 wood. Mind you I can drive the ball down the fairway pretty successfully on most days. But this is still a matter of an out to in swing path. Your irons back spin to side spin ratio is higher which keep the ball out left and can sometimes fade it. However with the driver, since there’s not a lot of back spin maybe 25-2700 rpm and upwards of 1000 maybe more side spin, the back spin doesn’t keep the ball straight and lets the ball sweep big across the fairway. I notice when I’m slicing driver and missing left with irons, focusing on a slight slight pause at the top of my swing really pulls everything back to a neutral or slightly inside out swing path.

Very good lesson Danny. I'm often struggling with the big slice both with driver and fairway woods. Along with the over the top swing, I battle with a body lean towards the target on the downswing trying to generate more speed. As an aging golfer, rotation is getting more and more difficult. I do find if I think about keeping my head behind the ball at contact and "staying over the ball" longer seems to help sometimes. Somehow we older folk have to compensate for lack of rotation, it really makes playing golf well more difficult. Thanks.

I have come OTT for 34 years, and I suppose we that do that stand closed because we think that if we are aligned to the right of target, we will then swing outside to in to that line, which SHOULD be down the target line . . . . false logic I guess. I'm just off to the range to try try brushing up on that driver. It worked on my swing simulator I put in the garage during lockdown, but let's see how it is for real. Nothing ever has been able to stop me chopping down at the ball from the outside, but we don't give up! An hour later . . . . . yes, very impressive! I hit some lovely clipped little draws with a 7 iron off the deck. However, the point of the video was to impart anti clockwise (draw) spin on the ball with the driver, and I couldn't do it at all. Some nice solid straight ones, but nothing moving right to left. If I tried to roll over, I just pulled it left. So, must be still OTT

If only I could have made it last. This video was the last I watched before heading out on a golfing vacation. We arrived at Panmure GC on a cold, drizzly day, I took my rental set to the range not expecting much. Keeping in mind Danny’s tips I ripped a sweet draw about 125 with my PW. I then proceeded to go through my bag up to my four iron hitting nothing but baby draws. Although I was never able to turn the driver. It would start right and stay there. I simply made an adjustment with my swing path and started hitting it straight. It was a wonderful feeling knowing which way my ball would fly, but alas, the next time out, it was gone, as if it were a dream. Please excuse my tears.

Danny, I used this approach today on the course - great success. The only adustment I had to make was to tee up a bit higher. I normally use the white castle tees i.e. about 1.25" but they don't give enough height to "sweep up" on the ball. This method (I think) also gave me more top-spin and distance. Excellent Video !

Great video Danny--I've watched this several times. My instructor told me years ago to pronate, pronate, pronate! And all I did in order to close the clubface was to come over the top, much like your early tennis day example! Also, I have a tendency to aim right, which obviously now is wrong! One training aid that has helped me considerably is the SKLZ Gold Flex. It helps the tempo and timing considerably! Once the swing path is corrected, hands light on the grip and letting the club "swing itself", it's amazing how far and straight you can hit the driver with very little effort!

I really learn soooo much from you Danny thank you..I was shooting 103-107...I was the person aiming to the right.. my last two scores were 91 and today 88!,, You obviously speak my language, what I don’t exactly understand is when you say left parallel of my targets line. I address the ball to target then slightly turn my body to the left..most times it’s great and consistent but sometimes I think I turn too much, then stare at the ball as my target and pull...is there a sequence to achieve the right way consistently...I even went to your web site to search for a lesson on alinement...didn’t see one. I do not want to hear from any other teachers so I await your response...my husband is shooting even par most days, and he is amazed at my quick progress...our course here in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico isn’t easy but Golf is becoming FUN!!! Come on down to play at Quivera it’s a Jack N course...if you’re ever in my hood..omg I’m OD ON YOUR LESSONS...SO PLS set me straight on the meaning exactly of left parallel ..I love it cuz my body clears now...it’s sooo different...you rock!!

Excellent tuition 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Spot on with alignment; my golf coach tells me exactly what you said, with the feet incorrectly pointing at or right of target. Should be parallel to target line. Tennis analogy is nailed on too; I always think of a whipped Federer forehand, and keeping clubface shut at follow through. And your last point in particular is absolutely critical! I used to make this mistake often when attempting to draw and ending up with the double cross i.e. push slice because I used my shoulders. Disassociate indeed i.e. let the wrists do the work. Well done on a great video, Danny. Subscribed.

Great video. A few things that also helped me: 1) Grip Pressure - I was gripping the club way too hard, to the point where I was strangling the life out of it! Once I relaxed my grip, my neck and arms also relaxed and I feel much more fluid. I've hit much less 'over the top' as the pressure generally lead to me swinging with my hands first during the downswing. My grip now feels like someone could pull the club from my hands but with some but not much resistance. Oddly I can't see many videos talking about grip pressure! 2) Throwing/dropping the club away - Draw a clock face and put on the numbers 12, 3, 6 and 9. Imagine you're stood in the middle of it facing the number 12. When you begin the downswing the feeling is the club head goes in the direction of number 4 or 5 on the clock face (not 2 or 3 as it would in an over the top swing) Some people will say 'ah your casting' but I found that the initial feeling of the shaft and club head going in that direction was soon overtaken by the rest of the swing. It's my main swing thought on the tee. 3) Left leg brace - I found I was sliding at impact towards the target. This allowed my hands to get in front of the ball and the club face to open. Result = slice. So once my hips start to move in the downswing the feeling I have is my left leg braces and I turn round it as the club comes through.

@@DanielMaude Subconsciously I think gripping the club that hard gave me a feeling of control, but it was just making my upper body way too tense and definitely contributing to my hands starting the downswing first. As I said Ive watched dozens of videos on grip but none talk about pressure. Cheers. Love the videos, you've got a lovely way of describing drills.

I also found that a light grip pressure does wonders. I was gripping to tight, and would hang on, leaving the club face open, hitting 20 yard slices.

Great video. I was surprised when Danny commented about not aiming to the right i.e. closed stance at address. Most slicers I have come across have an open stance, which I thought in part caused an out-to-in swing path. It was also interesting to note that Danny did not mention the grip. Again in my experience most slicers have a weakfish left hand grip which makes it difficult to square up the club face at impact. Interested to learn what Danny has to say about these points.

  • @DanielMaude

    @DanielMaude

    5 жыл бұрын

Great points Ray, I think the grip is really important I just find that when a golfer begins to square everything up at address the grip starts to square up too. Often the weak lead hand grip is caused because the shoulders are aiming left at address which in it self is caused by the golfer aiming right. I do think you are right that some golfers have a weak grip and open stance both of which will encourage a slice

G’day Danny. Great video. I’ve watch this several times and note that your right elbow drops and your wrists drop the club inside just before your downswing. Can you do a video focussing on that move because I think that’s the knowledge gem that I’m missing. In slow motion you can really see this move you have that puts the club on an in to out plane. I’m a lefty and struggle to draw the ball and it’s my out to in swing that’s stopping me getting that draw. Cheers.

Danny Maude but I think besides understanding the things that go wrong and the swingsmechanics it’s needs a Pro to change things like swingpath or dropping hands and get the club under or on the plane! Lots of work and right corrections are needed till the changes work. Nearly impossible without a pro. That’s why most of the so-called „quickfixes“ of utube videos don’t work.
