2.22.24 | Video by Adam | QUEENS (NYPD) - On Thursday, February 22, 2024, at approximately 0424 hours, police responded to a 911 call of an aided female, trapped and injured, inside of a red Nissan at 60-29 56 Drive, within the confines of the 104 Precinct. Upon arrival, officers observed a 29-year-old female, unconscious and unresponsive, inside a red Nissan sedan with damage to the passenger side of the vehicle. A 27-year-old male was standing outside the vehicle and stated to police that he was driving the vehicle. EMS responded and transported the female to NYC Health and Hospitals/Elmhurst where she was pronounced deceased. EMS transported the male to NYC Health and Hospitals/Elmhurst in stable condition. The male was taken into custody and charges are pending. Upon further investigation it was determined that at approximately 0409 hours, the red Nissan sedan was originally involved in a motor vehicle collision with a Honda SUV that was operated by a 34-year-old male at 47 Street and 28 Avenue, within the confines of the 114 Precinct, and left the scene. While fleeing the location, the red Nissan also collided with an unattended Alpha Romeo sedan and an unattended Nissan sedan. The operator of the Honda SUV refused medical attention. The investigation is ongoing by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad.

    That’s the way it happens. The one driving like a jerk survives. That’s what I told my father, in front of my mother when he was driving like a jerk. Told him he was going to kill my mother if he keeps it up. She stared at him with a “See?” expression. He stopped being a jerk thankfully.

    They are extremely brave. 💙 First responders deal with so much trauma on a daily basis. It's bound to affect them. I don't think the public realizes how stressful these jobs are. My ex is a fire captain (35+ years), and both of my sons are firefighters. They love their job, but it's really important that they get therapy or at least talk about the incidents that they were involved in. I can't imagine cutting a dead person out of a smashed car. 😥

    This guy... sounds like that man-baby from Roger Rabbit! Ever see a kid fall, look around to see if someone saw what happened, seeks out the nearest human, and then start crying the INSTANT an adult is in sight? This guy thinks he mastered that trick! Deep voice, loud as possible, not a damn tear in sight. For a moment someone asks where he lives... and for a half a second he realized someone was paying attention to him...and then remembered he's supposed to be sad. The fact that they just let him yell and wail and make a scene... not one person bought that performance... which just made it all so much sadder. One thing that can give you good insight into the condition of your victim/patient is called mechanism of injury. Look at the damage to the vehicle and equate that to how badly the victim is injured inside his/her body as well as outside. That took an incredible amout of force to rip the car apart like this.

  • @VioletJoy

    @VioletJoy

    3 ай бұрын

    I'm not sure about that. I just heard the other day that modern cars are made more flimsy, so they'll take the impact of an accident. Older cars were much stronger, so passengers would take more of the impact. That's why it's more common now for cars to be totaled, even if he accident wasn't very bad.

  • @jonnywilson9117

    @jonnywilson9117

    3 ай бұрын

    @@VioletJoy Right, but wrong. They're not made "more flimsy" They're made with crumple zones. Those are mainly at the front and rear of the vehicle. The B-Pillar is a crumple zone. There's very little distance between you and the B-Pillar. The car that hit them, pushed that B-pillar into the vehicle by about 8 to 12 inches. Sit inside of a can and measure 8 inches into the vehicle from the B pillar. Plus, there's your seat that's also going to hit you and crush you potentially. Yes seats have airbags (In all newer cars) but airbags are there to prevent you hitting your head against metal. With this collision, the female passenger absorbed pretty much all of the impact from getting t-boned. Then, add the 20 or so minutes he decided to drive off and not get her the help she desperately needed. Most cars that get totalled, from my understanding, isn't because of what you stated, it's because the repair cost exceeds the vehicles value, according to the insurance company when they look at the repair bill from an accident repair centre. Now other cars, say back in the 60s or 70s weren't totalled after a crash, because they didn't have crumple zones, and, repairs weren't that expensive when compared too today. Cars with LED lights for example, you can't just change a light bulb. You have to change the whole unit, and some of them can cost upwards of $1500. Just for 1 simple LED unit. Then there's the sensors that get damaged. They are cheap, but they're not cheap. In modern cars, if you didn't know, the driver is the most protected. That's why drivers, typically drunk drivers will walk away, but their passengers won't, even if their passengers are also drunk.
