Driven- The 2019 BMW X7
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
It has three rows of seating, a stunning interior, standard all-wheel drive and is manufactured in America. Oh, and it’s a BMW. The X7 is the largest vehicle BMW makes. It’s ready to haul your clan, as long as you have $75,000 for a base xDrive 40i model. Tom Voelk drove in the lap of luxury from Phoenix, Arizona to Las Vegas, Nevada with Top Gear Magazine writer Paul Horrell. And they talk politics! But first they have to find the key…
BMW paid for transportation and lodging. Running footage was provided by BMW because, as you will see, I ran out of time.

About Tom:
Tom Voelk is an award-winning automotive contributor to The New York Times. His podcast was the first to win an Emmy Award. He also married way out of his league. Now, stop reading this promotional copy bragging about Tom's photography and editing skills and watch a couple episodes. It's much more interesting.

My mom has a new BMW X7 and it is an INCREDIBLE SUV. Best SUV in the market for the money.
Always looking forward to your reviews Tom...brilliant as always! Thank you!
I''ll definitely upgrade from X5 and own this brand-new beautiful machine X7! Thank you for sharing nice video!
Another amazing review, as always. Great Job Tom.
Pretty sure Tom hid the key just to get enough time to get the interior shot.
Did a similar drive but in a rental 2017 BMW X5 (only had a few hundred miles when we got it) a few years back (from Las Vegas to Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon, and back). It was a great road-trip car and really helped to eat up the miles. The views were tremendously beautiful!

I also had a similar run a few weeks ago, but I was in a Chrysler Pacifica and can offer a similar assessment: really helped to eat up the miles. Of course it's no BMW X7, but at half the price, it does a good impression of one for such a run.
Great review and improvisation, love the quality of your reviews, Tom.
Luxury Undefined and raw performance is flawless and also the new features are just exciting with the looks that are dynamic and eye catching Surely a masterpiece by BMW 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻💥💥💥💥👌🏻👌🏻
I live 30 minutes away from the plant. My neighbor does some sort of mechatronics work there. I've seen 3 of these big beasts already.

Way to roll with the punches! Great video, as usual! 🙂
Why are your videos soooo damn good Tom. Keep it up.
Awesome review Tom.
Presenter actually said, “. . . loaded to the 101 gram level.” 😅
Given the size of this thing I'm surprised you didn't mention the Canyonero in the list of comparable vehicles ;)
Looks like BMW gonna need to make a "Find my key" app for their smart key.

Great review, Tom.
One of my dream SUV’s.
Another nice video, Tom. Just a suggestion: For your beauty shots, slap on a ND filter and tighten your DOF. :)
Thanks Tom for a very insightful review of a vehicle we’re very interested in! And given the distances we drive, the i40 may be the version we choose (I’d opt for the V8 but...) Cheers Doc
I prefer the tiny grille on my E32 7 series. It is more restrained and doesn't shout as much. Still, this is a great piece of engineering. Nice video Tom as always.
Another top-notch review
I have to say, it looks pretty cool reviewing it from the middle row while driving.
You know it’s pricey but compared to the competitors it’s in line with what they want and in my opinion much nicer and better appointed. I drove this and a Range Rover Autograph and the X7s interior was much more user friendly and tech forward.
If I ever want to own a very expensive hearse, this will be perfect.
Excellent car and high quality.
Спасибо ! BMW X7 лучший автомобиль - мечта современности, король и император всех дорог !
Great vehicle. Lately, Tom, your reviews have some excitement! Just one request, keep this vehicle in USA please, we've enough behemoths on our small roads in France.

A dream car
Maybe BMW and these other companies need to invest in some Tile trackers for their keys. LOL. I like the X7, it's nice, they really should have brought this out like 10 years ago considering how long the GL has been out and the Escalade and the Navigator etc.

Sage advice about keeping track of your keys. Many, many years ago, some friends and I were at some lake row boating. This girl I know is one of those who has a zillion keys on her key ring, (Which is very bad for the ignition switch BTW) decided to place her keys on the floor on the row boat. Then some of the folks decided to monkey around by splashing each other with the oars. So of course one of the row boat flipped over and wouldn't you know it. It was the boat that had the keys on the floor. So now it's on the bottom of the lake. HOORAY!!!! So now this girl, soak and wet head to toe was locked out of her car and she's standing next to my car as I was about to go home. She asked me to drive her home so she could get the spare keys. And oh, home for her is about a hour and a half to two hours away. Then obviously drive back to the lake. So I'm looking at his girl. Then I'm lookin' at the cloth seat on my car (NA Miata BTW). Nope, not going to work I'm saying to myself. I told her that I have work tomorrow and I have to get up early. So I took off and she was coughing at the dust cloud I left behind. So another friend drove her home in a car with leather seats. Then many years later, I was thinking about what I did. I really felt like a grade A heel. A jerk. But my car had cloth seats!!! It's gonna get musty!!! LOL. I think leather covered with a towel or two would have been better. And that's what my friend who drove her back did. Anyways, I told her I was really sorry and I should've been the one to drive her home. But we laughed about it and put it behind us. So keep track of your keys and place them in a safe place!
Ultimate lease machine. Just don't own it out of warranty. Like all BMWs.

Three years ago a friend bought a five year old 5-series with 85,000 miles on the clock. He has since increased the mileage to nearly 130,000 miles and the car hasn't missed a beat. So unless you've experienced all BMWs, which of course you haven't, you're spouting generalised nonsense.
Do the BMW V8 still blow up at 60k mls? I stopped buying their products after my wife’s 650i needed a new engine at 55k mls and another one at 90k mls.... So yes - the ultimate lease machine

If you wanna keep the car for a longer period of time and you need to do serious off roading then the land cruiser is for you..if you wanna have better on road performance the x7 is for you..bmw can do off road too but the land cruiser have been known for its toughness n reliability.

It can go off road, there's even an off-road package. How the two stack up is hard to tell without testing them both back to back. If you're on rough dirt roads both will do that easily. FWIW, the Land Cruiser gets some of its reliability due to the fact it's been around a long long time on the same architecture. The BMW is much better to drive on paved roads.

Lilrick96 it will be basically the new gle just bigger just like this is the same as the x5 just bigger.
I've never liked BMW cars in past and the X3 & X5 would make smile every wintertime. My fellow residents had some nice shiny BMW SUV that wouldn't be able to move for weeks when the heavy snow and ice set in and every day they would come out clean the snow off their expensive SUV that they had bought and try and drive off the driveway but all of them would fail one by one. Only one resident in a X5 managed to make it off a flat drive way it just never made another inch after that and it fish tailed for over 5 minutes and constantly wheel spinning wheels and a lot of shouting and swearing they gave up. Next my friend next door tried getting her BMW 1 series out of the drive way and the car just couldn't get any grip and wiped out my front wall. Then I would go out side defrost my car and my my sons Audi and both of us could get out of our road. That's all changed now with BMW finally waking up that they have lost a lot of car sales because BMW wouldn't do a All Wheel Drive or a proper 4X4 car. Now it's a different story with BMW hitting the market with the xdrive all wheel drive system. Well done I love the X7 🚗
Well done review. But I was dissipated that you chose to move to the 3rd row while on the highway. Airbags and seatbelts are ineffective while out of your seat.

Great review as usual Tom…unfortunately, the comment about the largest kidney grill didn’t age well….the current grill on some of the BMWs, aka, the “beaver teef” have absolutely ruined the look of modern BMWs…hopefully the next gen goes back.
