Drip Irrigation for the Home Gardener | Getting Started | The Southerner's Northern Garden

Hi, everyone! I had several people asking about drip irrigation and today's video goes into extensive details of the products I use, converting an existing sprinkler system to drip, connecting drip directly to your hose bibb, discussing cost, and other tips and tricks along the way. Stay tuned to the end for a blooper! I will provide more videos on drip irrigation throughout the season as I create new beds and/or set up additional beds on drip irrigation, so don't forget to like and subscribe and hit the bell for notifications!

Oh my word. This video is absolutely loaded with gold. Thank you so much for this comprehensive guide on irrigation. After moving to the south, I had been hand watering each evening and as the heat has started getting more intense, also hand watering in the morning and on my lunch break. I had no idea where to start with drip and only found the overpriced packages in the big home hardware stores. I'm container planting currently, so I just purchased a timer and a sprinkler head and grouped my plants in the same area and this has eased my time up and helped the wilting situation. However, I'll be preparing for drip when I finally get my home purchased though and I cannot thank you enough for all of this information. You're a legend.

This was the best, most complete and informative video on drip irrigation I have seen. Even the channel I watch done by a professional landscaper/nurseryman didn't explain half as we!!. Thank you very much! I'm lucky enough to live in the country with my own well that's over a hundred feet deep so only cost is the electric to run the pump. However, I'm hoping to downsize within a year and water availability and cost is going to be a high priority for my new home! 👍👍👍😀💖

Yay... it came up on my KZread feed, how did it just read my mind? I don't have to go through your videos to find out. Gonna watch it over and over until I get it down for my drip irrigation system down, will install this year. Thank you Matthew for such a detailed education, thanks for sharing!! You are my go-to gardening person for sure.

What a great resource! I have the behyve timer on my raised beds, but the drip 'tape' I'm using has started just pouring water at the female connection. Time for 'real drip' and to try again to research what I just couldn't find and understand last spring.

This was so helpful and informative! I bought Rain Bird supplies to set up drip and have been afraid to tackle it so I am still watering by hand every day. I enjoyed your slow and calm instructions and suggestions which made it easy to follow you and not get confused. Thank you for this video! I love your garden and I am so excitedly waiting to see your new fence once it goes in.

Love your series, very informative. I am having back flow before timer. Am I doing it wrong? I have backflow - BHyve timer- Pressure Regulator - Filter - Hose Adapter to 1/2” contribution line. You are my inspiration.

Can you demonstrate what you are talking about in the drip system? Wonderful video. I have put 2systems in and are never satisfied. How do you plan everything out so you don’t buy everything in the store. I am very detail oriented. I guess ocd.
