Drinker's Chasers - Why House of the Dragon is Destroying Rings of Power

Ойын-сауық

For an unwanted prequel show that everyone expected to flop, House of the Dragon has managed to win over all of us. Why? Because its well written and mature, with characters that look and act like adults. On the other hand, Rings of Power flounders with childish characters written by childish writers.

House of Dragons is destroying Rings of Power because it's a show produced, acted, directed by grown ups with a level of craft and dedication. Which is SHOCKING after season 8 of Game of Thrones, but they've done a fantastic job. Rings of Power has none of that.

She also has a bit of the "don't you know who I am?" attitude, though less than Galadriel. 2- men are portrayed in general bad lights. The king is weak/incompetent/indecisive others are manipulative, cruel (Daemon/Hightower...) or unhinged/overly emotional (Criston) who let their emotions run them.

@@sensuscommunis2526 those complaints (rightfully) come from the women since women are second class citizens in this show. They have a right to complain. You act like women in the Middle Ages didn’t complain about men having all the power. Most of the fighting in this show has been done by men beating the crap out of one another. So far, the men are the only ones making the big decisions (except in ep8 because Viserys is on his death bed). Just look at Daemon, Otto, Aemond, Aegon, etc. all of those characters are the ones driving the show with the exception of Rhenerya, Alicent, and sometimes Rhenys. The dragons of HOD will always destroy the orcs of ROP. But also to add more to the discussion between Drinker and Claim about the attractiveness of the Rogue Prince. It is like the bad boy type in high school dramas and females have been attracted to the mysterious bad boy types due to the swagger and assertiveness that is what Daemon has along with his awareness of the environment he is in and he knows how to play the game. But in that same mindset there is a balancing act and if one veirs to one side then that is when chaos will come. But on the subject between Rhaenyra and Alicent I can say that both have made choices that they regret doing. But they think that they are the heroes of their own stories when in truth they are both very much the villains to the people around them and that is what lead them down the path towards the storm that is the Dance of Dragons(Gary knows what I speak of) and in the end Rhaenyra is power hungry and Alicent was a pawn and it is their hubris that sends them both and the people around them into an abyss. I agree that they are all grey, but to me personally Rhaenyra is far brighter grey than Alisont. Especially after the confrontation at driftmark. The queen is so caught up in that future looming threat to her children that she would take the eye of a small child that defended his siblings and cousins. She is beyond reason at times and that what makes her pretty dark grey to me. Rhaenyra made it clear that she will pursue her own fullfilled life and kinda screw with the common rules but still she looks out for the people around her. There was no way she ever considered her half-brothers Aegon and Aemond some obstacle to remove if everyone would just chill tf out. In the end both of them were at fault and it was their own hubris that lead to the civil war that is to come in the show and during those time a family member would go so far as to kill another family member for power and ever since she was made the heir apparent by King Viserys she has become more and more power hungry and entitled and does see as Aegon II as an obstacle and Alicent warned her eldest son about that set up the path that would lead down to the massive storm that is coming. Let me provide alternative perspective. >>>The queen is so caught up in that future looming threat to her children Thing is that for her that future seems very, very real. The realm will have very hard time accepting Rhaenyra, because of her gender, and apparent illegitimacy of her children. And when your grip on the power is weak, you may be forced to remove your "alternatives", by any means, because a lot of support naturally gather around them. And Alisent can not believe the princess, after "I swear on my mother" oath was broken. >>>small child that defended his siblings and cousins Girls wasn't in any danger at that point, and even danger to his brother is debatable, as Aemond had his face full of sand. Moreover it was them who initiated that conflict, and they used weapon first. Alisent kid also escalated a lot but mostly with words, abet very harsh ones. >>>Alisont on the other hand was about to maim a 5 year old with a knife Her son just got permanently disfigured, Alisent asked for perpetrator to be punished and received NOTHING. Eye for an eye is common enough in Westeros (1st episode in HotD, and butcher boy in GoT) to expect such justice here, but even if we think it's to harsh, SOME punishment is clearly due. Only after she is refused, her feelings overcome her and remembering how mothers react when their kids are hurt, her actions is not THAT crazy, pretty extreme as they are. And remember that Alisents whole deal is that she accepted her duty, connected her life with person she had very limited sympathy for, produced children, was exemplary wife and all. While Rhaenyra refuses to marry until commanded to, loses virginity villy-nilly, birth 3 painfully obvious bastards (which WILL destabilize realm when their time to inherit comes), in other words does whatever she wants without thinking about her duty, realm and political stability. And uses her fathers favor to avoid punishment for herself and her children. Don't get me wrong, Alisent is far from perfect herself, but I find her perspective a bit more reasonable then Rhaenyras.

Aemond provocated a grieving relative into physical confrontation, punched way smaller children in the face, called his cousins bastards and only then the knife was drawn. He used a rock to threaten a 5 year old and then the boys fought for their lifes pretty much. You actually wanna take the 5 year olds eye too for this? Alright then. Not even in Westeros that kind of demand is anywhere near reasonable. Your fuckind child lost the fight he provoked well knowing the feelings involving Laena and Vhagar. Out of spite. He got his upcoming for it. Tough luck. It could have gone the other way and he could have smashed one of the boys head in by accident. Then what? @@svenr.3803 Let me clarify. "I" don't think taking childs eye as retaliation is reasonable in any way. But we had similar thing applied by Robert to butchers son in (I think) S01E02 of GoT. You can argue that Luc(Jace?) is very young and noble so same logic would not apply, but it isn't clear from what we have seen of this world. Let us not forget that first Rhaenyra suggests that Aemond should be "sharply questioned" which is code words for, you know, torture. This may be cope, but I see Alisents relatively satisfied by lesser punishment, only requesting maximal applicable after king told everyone to basically "hug it out". Regarding kids fight. Aemond, being little dick that he is, certainly has his part in escalation, rewaching scene (internet debates, am I right?) I picked up that he uses stone earlier than knife is drawn, so my mistake here. He is still was attacked first, 1v4, and does not seem to punch with serious intent to hurt, mostly retaliates, and gloats over his temporary advantage. And girls are relatively close in age to him, if I am not mistaken. In my mind he has relatively strong case of self defense, but ultimately it does not matter, as adults later do not engage with this level of details. >>>Your fuckind child lost the fight he provoked well knowing the feelings involving Laena and Vhagar. Out of spite. Tough luck. Did he really know though? And even then he correctly states that if she wanted that dragon she should have taken it. You know, tough luck. And it isn't purely out of spite, he is clearly riding high on adrenaline and is not prepared to deal with any level of criticism. Charitable reading of the scene even suggest that first offensive pig comments is brought up by presence of Strong boys who was not kind to him earlier. >>>He got his upcoming for it. So taking child eye as literal eye for an eye is bad, but another child deserved his eye injury for mean words? >>>It could have gone the other way and he could have smashed one of the boys head in by accident. Then what? Would Alisont agree that her sons head should be smashed in in return? Give me a break Fair point, she most certainly would not. I think she would be fine with liter punishment, maybe even suggested it herself, but at this point in conflict probably not. But you must agree though, that having zero actions taken against perpetrators who did ambush him, attacked first and permanently maimed him must sting immensely. Even if you were behaving otherwise in reversed positions.

October 13, 2022 - Regarding some the points this panel made. 1) Most of the people that are watching fantasy and Sci-Fi films and TV series are young, and really haven't experienced the rough and tumble of life yet. They have no idea as to what is like to make life changing decisions, or how to deal with people. Their vision of the world and of good and evil. Are based on what they see in film and TV entertainment productions in which characters are rarely complicated. They are either bad or good. 2) When it comes to national and international power struggles. Few people realize or know how devious and under handed people in power can be. 3) Many people have a totally unrealistic view of History, thanks to a terrible education system, and the entertainment industry's "dramatizations" of historical events and people. Few people, (especially those that feel history began with their births), have any idea as to how various societies were constructed. For example, why it was so important for a wealthy family with a daughter of marrying age, to be a virgin or at least thought to be one. As the saying goes.. "Never look to Hollywood for an honest portrayal of real History".

🖤 *DAEMON* *VS.* *AEMOND* 💚 *(SPOILERS)* GRRM's favorite Targaryen from his books is Daemon. He said this multiple times. The Battle Above The Gods Eye is a very famous scene like Obi-Wan vs. Anakin in Mustafar that happens in the books and it essentially ends the Dance. Is Aemond like Cindy Brady? A tattletale? "Mom, Aegon pranked me! Aegon started the bastard rumors!” Some Chad beating up smaller kids and snitching Aegon twice. No wonder we see rats when Viserys was smashing Alicent in Ep 4. That's the night Aemond was getting conceived. Aegon took that public blame like a man. To the new Aemond stans, I feel bad for your boy. And I do mean boy. His most notable kill is a boy who didn't go there to fight? Some badass when Daemon's daughter knocked him down and he snitches on his bro. GRRM is not changing that Gods Eye result. Say hello to Dark Sister, and I don't mean Baela or Rhaena. Daemon is going to have one of the greatest, most heroic, and most bad*ss "exits" in TV history. Helaena: He'll have to close an eye. Daemon: Duly noted. 👁️🗡️🎯

From what I can gather you too are a "stan" but a "Daemon stan" and you too are in delusion about your favourite characters fate. If he survived that fight then tell me how did it happen where is the proof?? There is no mention of him walking away, he's never seen mourning his dragon, returning to Nettles, Rhaenrya or going after Aegon. I have to ask as well is every historian just a retard and we should instead trust tales of singers and their fan fiction?

*SPOILER* *ALERT* I keep reading that Aemond is a huge highlight in Episode 8. Bravo to Ewan Mitchell. I think this episode really starts the war. Aemond kills Lucerys. I thought Jace deserves payback from Aemond because he was the one who brought out the knife and is closer to his age. We need a fight between Aemond vs. Baela. *Aemond* *is* *Walmart* *Daemon.* Keep repeating that to yourself and laugh at the tweets that says he's an upgrade from the original. He couldn't beat the OG, did he? But Daemon and Aemond are the only badasses in this series since Harwin is dead and Criston became a salty incel. So we are left picking Daemon or/and Aemond and I'm ok with that. Love them both. Laughable to me from TV only fans rooting for the Greens because they hate Rhaenyra or from Republicans (which I am) thinking he's an actual upgrade from Daemon. GRRM will NOT alter the fate of his favorite Targaryen and watch him lose to a tattletale nephew with a blind spot. It's like Luke Skywalker losing to Darth Vader in The Empire Strikes Back. In the show, Aemond has thrown his older brother under the bus twice. No wonder when Viserys was smashing Alicent in Ep 4, we see rats. But with good performances from Ewan, Aemond can reach my 2nd spot. He'll just never be greater than Daemon the way Kylo Ren was never greater than Vader as Rey said to him or Luke never really surpassing Anakin's power. Aemond was the best of his generation among fighters and was on the biggest dragon and he still couldn't kill his uncle. That's like Michael Jordan beating Kobe Bryant 1-on-1. I can't wait when Team Green watches the moment Daemon thrusts Dark Sister into Aemond's right-eye. The Green fans will scream, BIAS! BIAS! Even though we know damn well that's how it's written. None of us can avoid spoilers anyway. Even newer movies, KZreadrs like disGrace Randolph will spoil stuff like Wanda being the villain in Multiverse of Madness several months ahead. If say HOT D finishes by 2028 with a new season every other year, you are bound to read book spoilers in the comments. It's just inevitable. So listen to the Fire & Blood audiobook because you will hear or read spoilers for the next 6 years. I knew Aemond was going to lose an eye the moment he "parked" Vhagar. Even when it happened, I still gasped like, OMG! I knew Anakin would lose to Obi-Wan in ROTS. For years, we all knew they would fight in Mustafar. And once we all saw it, it was still heartbreaking to watch. It's not that bad knowing in advance since scenes can still move us and TV writers will alter events that will surprise us like they did for Laenor. Many book readers knew The Red Wedding was coming and were still in shock and crying when it finally happened. Enjoyed reading this one Reddit comment. House Of The Dragon? They all live in sh-tty caves! The title is such a lie! 🤣
