I like to watch the 1985 recording of Queen at live aid, because the performance is phenomenal. In this video, there are plenty of wide and tight shots of the crowd. I may have missed some, because I wasn't looking for it specifically, but I don't recall seeing a single non-white person in the crowd shots. This was a concert in London in 1985 that primarily featured acts more associated with white fans, so this is the natural result (if the same concert was held today, I assume the crowd would look different). I saw a link for the version made for the film Bohemian Rhapsody, and every crowd shot had multiple minorities in it. We're not talking about a historic event, or even something that was recorded historically in the near past, but which no footage exists. This is an event where you can watch the actual thing on youtube easily. It was very distracting because you could watch the original video back to back with the remake, and it sticks out like a sore thumb.

I have tried to get funding in Europe for a feature I wrote. The gov grants organizations all use this type of bs metric. I was always asked if I could rewrite my story to be about immigrants (because I'm an immigrant and that seems to be my only defining feature according to these idiots). Basically what Disney decided to do is handle the filmmaking process like government would. I foresee the same results. Decided to start a channel and build an audience instead. Most of the mainstream pipelines to get projects off the ground are ideologically captured.

You need to write an email/letter to the company telling them that you're done becuase of it. They need to see a direct consequence and they need to hear it. I think the plan is very insidious. ITs subconsciously getting people to get pissed off and triggered when they see these poorly written diverse characters. Eventually any time a minority appears we’ll have our spider senses heightened for his they’ll be portrayed. Im also black and me and most my family cant stand when they put a new black character in a role because they either make them lgbt or if its a girl they make her a narcissistic, smug, know it all. We also notice how even though theres more diverse movies theres less strong black men in them which is not accidental if you are so adamant about representation. The people who still run Hollywood and media are still mostly white so there aint know way theyre doing this without some sort of agenda in place. I think theyre mainly trying to polarize their viewers as well as brainwash future demographics.

Inclusion doesn't must mean hiring minorities, it means hiring woke minorities. If someone isn't speaking from an "authentic black voice" for example, that candidate will not be hired. No concessions made to marxists in an organization will ever considered to be "enough", and are instead seen as an exploitable weakness to turn the institution more woke. I had a conversation when I was in college which the gist of it was I got everything I had in life because I was a white, straight, male. When I brought up the fact that the town I worked in was affluent and anyone who took my job would be lowering their average pay... then I was an ahole and they went after other people. I'm pushing a broom to feed my family and pay for training to improve my life, I was the only person who out in for my job. These people are so out of touch with reality its painful.

I was watching an endymion vid and he brought up a conference called womanize that has high level people from several companies and franchises attend it. Their website explains that their goal is to take over male dominated spaces like games and movies and shift the focus away toward women, trans, non-binary. Some of the writers at rocksteady attend this event and one of them gave a speech there, so that may be part of the reason why their game turned put the way it did

I have been screaming that since 2012. But people kept chalking it up to "imcompetence". If that wa the case then KK would have been fired years ago. We are dealing with nepotism and zealots.

here's the thing, though: if this came down to a legal battle that didn't take place in a kangaroo court, it would be easy to argue that if the requirement is you have to have at least 50% of 'underrepresented groups,' a percentage that vastly doesn't represent the group's population, then they are then very *over*-represented. and, as far as representation goes, where does that stop? because i don't see a lot of overtly conservative representation happening, and when it's even hinted at it's portrayed as evil. besides it having no moral or ethical merit, i can't see how it would have any legal standing if challenged.

Unfortunately I see this actually going to court being about as likely as all the anti-BDS laws being challenged.

I just saw a couple of trailers for two new British historical comedy films/series - one about Dick Turpin with Noel Fielding and another with Nick Frost seemingly set in a medieval/dark ages Britain. Apparently both time periods were more diverse and multicultural than the present day. Now, I get that they’re comedies (although I didn’t even smile at any of the ‘jokes’), but in the past, say with Maid Marian and her Merry Men, the fact that there was a Rastafarian character was clearly a joke. Kids instinctively got that. Now, they’re trying to rewrite history as they wish it had been and a whole generation will grow up with these kinds of lies as their vision of the past. It’s propaganda; it’s brainwashing under the guise of being ‘kind’ and ‘inclusive’. I find it deeply disturbing and I don’t see anyone in the entertainment industry brave enough to stop it.

I have a buddy who applied to be a firefighter, he's been doing it for over a decade as a part time firefighter, and the questionnaire was like " are you gay, bi, undecided......person of color, blah blah, it was wild to me, I want my firefighters to pull me out of a fire who the fuck cares who is doing it 😅

I'm an actor and was literally told by talent agents.."We love your look, but this industry is trendy and your type is not in right now"...I'm not even white...I' have French/Colombian parents....I speak multiple languages, have family across 3 continents...And yet I've been told, im just a "white" guy....Like I have more culture in my pinky finger than some of these people have in their entire body.....To disregard all my cultural heritage and call me "white" is so disrespectful... These people are out of there minds...Even labeling people like me "Latinx"...its like, instead of being Colombian, French, Cuba, Mexican, I'm just "Latinx"...That's wokeness for you, disregard EVERYTHING and only look at the color of there skin..

What does culture has to do with any of it? According to the biology textbooks I was schooled by, when humans left sub Saharan Africa and settled in different places with different environments, through natural selection they evolved to have different physical traits, most prominent of which is skin color. It has nothing to do with culture, it's pure biology. If you take a black baby and raise them in Finland, what, will their skin get white? Claiming race has anything to do with culture is the epitome of racism, it's exactly the same as saying "black people are not those with black skin, it's those who do drugs and rap". No, black skin is race, doing drugs and rap is culture, and saying they're one and the same is the most racist thing you can say. Also by your logic where "race = culture" do you mean a black guy is a good pick to play Napoleon as long as he was born and raised in France? This is exactly what those Netflix guys would say to excuse such casting.

@@AlainNavasDrama No, it's you who try to boil everything down to one category when you say race and culture is the same category, I say exactly the opposite: race and culture are separate categories and it doesn't just boil down to "black = likes rap". A redhead Irish person is culturally different from a redhead Scandinavian person, but that has nothing to do with them both being redheads. They're two perpendicular categories, you can be Irish and redhead, Irish and not redhead, Scandinavian and redhead, or Scandinavian and not redhead. But when they say "we need a redhead actor to play this character and your hair is brown" you can't go on rant how they blanketed all redheads together and an Irish redhead is different from Scandinavian redhead, and they're ignoring your redhead-cultured heritage because you grew up in Ireland among redheads. It's Irish culture, not freaking redhead culture, what would that even mean? And the same way there's no such a thing as "black culture" which heritage they ignore by calling you white. They call you white because that's the color they perceive your skin to be, and its not their job to care which country your parents came from as that has no effect on your fitness for the role, but your appearance does. Imagine a dialogue like this: A: This German guy I know is super tall. B: How super tall are we talking about? I know an Italian guy who's 1m95cm, is that German friend of yours the same? A: No, he's not the same at all, he likes sausages and doesn't like pizza! B:: I didn't ask about his food preferences, I asked about his height. A: Wow you racist, you want to boil everything down to a blanket term like tall or small, totally ignoring how a German tall person is way different from an Italian tall person. This is absurd. When you start to talk about culture when the question was about race, you're doing the same as this "A" guy who starts talking about food when the question was about height. Saying race is only biology equals to "black or white only describes the color of your skin, and has nothing to do with what you do with your life, a black person can be a gangster and a white person can be a gagster, a black person can be a scientist and a white person can be a scientist, it's not connected in any way". Saying on the contrary that race is culture equals to "wtf black scientist, there can be no such thing, he betrayed black culture, he's Oreo, only looks black but white inside".

I never thought I'd say that I'm ashamed of being Canadian. I don't recognize the country I love: there's so much wokeness here that it makes me sick!

In fact, if you're a white male in Canada, you're treated as a non-person who is not worth the air you breathe. If I were you, I would highlight that specific portion of the application form and e-mail it to your MP, with a clear reminder of its infringement on Section 15 of the Charter itself. Make noise! Wish is like the perfect representation of these DEI standards. Disney focused entirely on checking off a bunch of boxes and paid zero attention to the script, music, or animation. And not surprisingly, it was a terrible movie and a massive bomb.

It only goes one way. If you make a movie set in historical Africa for example, and you included white characters these same people would have a fit.

In Australia, all advertising that features a family has a dark skin father, white mother and interracial children. You can set your watch to it.

Uh, guys, you're not aware, but all of East Asia is written off as "White" in DEI policies. This is really awful for them, as they get it on both sides. They get targeted by the violent racists on the street. (You have to dig into the stats, there's a huge problem of both young and elderly people of East Asian ethnicity targeted for violent assaults in New York CIty, San Fricisco, etc, Lots of grisly murders, grandparents getting their heads bashed in, pushed in front of subway trains, etc) Then they get targeted by the white collar racists by being told they're too white and privileged in corporate offices.

Bear in mind that 50% is the MINIMUM, and everyone is so scared of being on "the wrong side of history" that they almost all decide to go in a very particular direction when casting. So an already skewed figure of 50% becomes 80, 90% just because of groupthink among people with lucrative jobs who are afraid of losing their income and access. It's either by design, or promoted by people with absolutely zero insight into human nature, who also have absolutely no clue as to the consequences of what they're doing.

Sweet Baby Inc. is the canary in the mineshaft, the red flag. They're not the reason the video game stories are bad, but the fact that they were hired points to a way of thinking at the studio that leads to stories with a lot of progressive messaging. Still, if you play a video game and it seems like they've made the evil characters good and the good characters evil, Sweet Baby, Inc. was probably involved.

"Underrepresented groups" is so ambiguous it could mean anything. Where are all the bald leading men? Now Bruce Willis has retired they're grossly underrepresented! You can't arbitrarily categorise people. We're all unique individuals with unique backgrounds and experiences.

I'm from a South Asian background (Bangladesh, thank you for asking). I love my ethnicity, culture, religion, skin tone et al. However, if I started a business and was hiring staff. I would gladly hire eight white gentlemen named Bill, than eight named Ali. If the white gentlemen were more qualified and better prepared for the interview. The last thing required in the overwhelming majority of jobs is your ethnicity, culture, religion, etc. Hiring on the basis of these things is actually idiotic.

Do you reallly want to lose some sleep? This is how they are running the military now. I saw the writing on the wall when I was in 08-12. From what I've heard, it has only got worse.

@@nicholasvinen Well, large institutional investors have Inclusivity Guidelines and if a company doesn't comply they divest. Very roughly, Disney is 15%/20% owned by a couple large institutional investors (Vanguard, BlackRock, State Street and some others). This alone doesn't explain the abandonment of tried and true busines practices like audience segmentation. A lot of their products lately seem completely mistargeted. I'd think that there is so much wrestling for future power among different management levels, that the current performance is not a concern right now.

Technically using MAN for every job title isn't actually sexist historically speaking The term man (from Proto-Germanic *mann- "person") and words derived from it can designate any or even all of the human race regardless of their sex or age

There's a reason discrimination laws are being changed - this kind of culture of failure will be strangled by competition in the long run without a crooked referee making calls.

If 50% or more people come from underrepresented groups, doesn’t that make the group no longer “underrepresented”?

And these awards shows change their rules when they want too. Look at the masterpiece that was “All Quiet on the Western Front.” I remember when the BAFTA’s said that your film had to have diversity to be nominated. But that film was so incredible, that the BAFTA’s and the Oscars just threw out their rules. And BAFTA’s gave “All Quiet on the Western Front” ever award and it won the most awards for a Netflix film at the BAFTA’s, and the Oscars. It almost won best picture at the Oscars. So Hollywood is entirely full of shit.

One of the worst unintended results of this discrimination is that villains can now only be played by white men. Playing an awesome villain and going all out is one of the more amazing and fun things an actor gets to do to every once in a while. And now that is barred from under represented groups.

This is precisely why I listen to reviews and don't turn up and pay for these things on day 1, if they contain political garbage.

The big problem with the gaming industry is that people are so hellbent on having the latest that they will buy games long before they release, let alone asking any questions about quality. It's all about staying current and looking at the pretty pictures.
