Drill Powered Electric Bike 25MPH 40KMH!!!

Ғылым және технология

In this video I converted an old mountain bike into a Drill Powered Electric Bike that goes 25MPH or 40KMH. I achieved this by adding another sprocket that drives the "pedal sprocket" and this reduces the required torque so a drill will have enough power to run the bike. Then I can change the speed by using the gear shiftier that comes stock on all mountain bikes. When I run the Drill Powered Electric Bike I have the Drill on the high torque mode. If you have any questions or recommendations about the Drill Powered Electric Bike leave your question in the comment section below. And as always thank you for watching.

    Would love to see another video on gear ratio and what drill and other components you have? Nice idea! I plan to put one of these on a Recumbent trike with Atomic Zombie plans. Sort of a hill climb turbo!

    More gears won't give you more power, only higher acceleration on low speed.

    Thank you very much, how is the torque i.e. can you use it at a slow speed for assist i.e. hauling or uphill travel? I am legally blind and want to make a trike setup for shopping etc.

    During your test did you shift threw the cassette or stay in a single gear?

  • @BunkerBuilder

    I shifted through the cassette. The drill had a lot of torque behind it and I had it geared down a lot.

    Two questions. Could this work with a modified cordless angle grinder? And how do you make the pedal sprocket part?

  • @BunkerBuilder

    @BunkerBuilder

    2 жыл бұрын

    I'm sure you could make an angle grinder work but I don't think it will go very fast because you have high speed and low torque. As for the pedal sprocket part. I had to cut off the pedals and add another small sprocket that attaches to the drill. That smaller sprocket attaches the larger sprocket were the pedals would've been. This is to give the bike wheels more torque. Hopefully this helps.

    @@growpowerful i think your idea would work with a little bit of extra work. Cordless drill has more torque and lower speed as he mentioned. But you can implement a gear ratio that results in the desired output.

    how long does the battery last at 15 MPH and 25 MPH?

  • @BunkerBuilder

    @BunkerBuilder

    4 жыл бұрын

    I would definitely say the battery will last longer at 15 MPH. But I would say the most limiting factor is that the drill will overheat before I run out of batteries. I would say I've gone 3-4 miles on a 24V 4Ah battery at fairly lower speeds 8-14MPH and it drained the battery to about 25%-33%. I've noticed that the drill doesn't heat up easily at lower speeds but when I go up to 18-25MPH is heats up fairly quickly.

    I do the same with me 3 Gear bike. Its geared a little to high (testet one second gear) but it runs good. I haven't driven yet, I just let my tire turn and it was f*cking fast.. 18 volt to 24 Volt and high Amperes. How fast it would be? It has very high rpms 😅 40, 50-55 kmh? I also lightly oiled it so that it doesn't break immediately. it is clear to me that it lasts for a month have a lot of such engines

    @@BunkerBuilder nice video but i live in germany if cops see me with the big motor i can have big problems. I had a chase on a dirtbike they didnt catched me. I sometimes find garden tools that are battery-operated, 36 volts. i believe that the motors that are installed there are also good for the bike. Nobody else wants it or the battery is defective
