I think I've only seen them marked with a pictogram of a motorcycle in Germany. But it's pretty rare to find spots just for bikes to begin with.

Its most likely that the microphones are behind small holes and they are creating a whistley sound when the wind runs by them. Or alternatively it comes from the camera possibly switching between the mics trying to find the quietest one

Great review as always, I've recently purchased the Drift Ghost X myself for the purpose of motovlogging, and I must say coming from the old Drift HD1080 I'm more than happy with it, I tend to record most of my video's with an open faced helmet, and thus suffered with bad wind noise, I cut a bit of fake fur and wrapped the mic, now I can vlog at 70mph with the open face helmet and still be heard without that horrible windnoise, not that you need to but if your interested i do have a helmet/camera setup video on my channel, keep up the good work, all the best Skeggy.

it's a nice formfactor. i think they could potentially create a model with both a front and back camera in one housing, where each lens could be tilted independently from the body in addition to the lens rotation. that would make it so convenient in having one unit recording opposite sides with just one mount. also dual microsd card slots would help with any recording writes to a card.

Used to look forward to Techmoans informative reviews of dash/sports cams so was pleased to see this review, although he used to review budget cams

I don't know if it's KZread quality or thumbnail video format but i had a hard time reading license plates of oncoming traffic. Which to me seems quite important for these cameras.

Really good and informative video. Considering to purchase this cam for my bike and the battery life is the selling point for me. All the other action cams I've used barely held up to 2 hours.

How well can you read license plates when you're moving your head quickly (like when in an accident)? Would it be better to run at 720p60 to get a better change at capturing a readable frame, or does that just add more blurry frames? How well does the image stabilisation work?

I don't believe this model has any image stabilisation - digital or otherwise.

Yeah, the more frames the better. You will get more frames with the subject and they will be less blurry, because they have shorter exposures. Still, the priority is image quality. So don't buy any random camera, but check out reviews. 720p could be too low to read licence plate.

@@grzegorzszymanski6687 This looks like a drift stealth 2 in a new package. I can tell you, give up on reading license plates. In 1080p in good light you can, or in the dark with low movement. 720p is only enough to read the license plate of the car right in front of you, and auto exposure drowns out license plates on the front due to headlights. I cannot find anything on the market that has a 4+ hour battery life, is water proof, slim profile, and can read license plates... unless you get your hands on a (discontinued) gopro session and permanently wire it into a powerbank.

Sony XAVCS 1080/60 is a good compromise over say SJCAM SJ8 Pro or GoPro 4k/60.

Thanks for doing the indoor video segment. It was useful! What was the lighting used when doing that indoor part?

My old trusty Drift HD has been with me for many years and is still going strong. Was very thankful you can still get lense replacements after I dropped it last year. I bought a stealth not so long ago but was very disappointed there was no external mic option. I don't vlog but I do have a mic in my helmet as it cuts out all the wind noise you'd otherwise get. This one with the mic adapter looks a lot better. Might have to think about an upgrade for xmas :)

Nice. I’ve used the Drift Stealth for a year or two and I’m very happy with it. Does the Ghost X still have the same ‘glitch’ of resetting the Car DVR settings after having connected to a phone via WiFi? It’s the one thing that annoys me about mine (other than wind noise)

Thanks for your excellent review. I purchased a Drift Ghost X and so far I'm quite happy with it. One question I have is that when I set the bit rate to high it's around 20Mb/s, not much higher than the default setting of medium. Any idea why this is the case?

Great video as usual. Thank you. I've been wanting to get one of these, but want one that's built tough. This one seems better then many of the other's I've looked at. I'll be using it in a car too. So I'm sure this will last a while in that scenario. I wish you talked about the possibility of adding a 2nd camera for the back of a car. Although it didn't seem like it had that functionality to me anyway. Be careful on the bike my friend.

I really like the indepth long videos you do, like I get excited whenever I see a new video (even if it's not something I would be interested in buying such as this, I don't really have a bike at the moment anyway) because of that haha!

Really like the convenience of being able to use it either for 2x or 4x wheeled transport!

I just got one of these - I love it. I use the Cycliq Fly 12ce and fly 6ce on my handlebars and seat post... First ride however, once the memory card got full, it didn't loop around, it just turned off... I made sure the firmware was up to date, formatted the card, turned off the thumbnails and I was running it at 1080p 30fps... as I'm used to the out of the box dvr loop perfection of the cycliq products, I'm wondering if I've missed a step?

Wouldn't a bit of foam over the mics be enough for wind suppression?

14:40 - it's like that noise a deflating balloon with it's neck stretched makes but cos the mics are picking up different signals, due to their proximity and wind travelling across the surfaces differently, and noise cancelling relying on the similar signals with one them inverted, it's introducing artefacts and they're quite increased and more noticeable when turning!

I have purchased the Ghost XL and it would not record until you showed me the record button, I was riding around in stand by mode. They should have put this in the little instruction manual and it would have saved me hours of playing with settings, so a BIG Thank You for a great video.

I've got no need or interest in this kind of product, yet it was still an absolutely joy to watch.

The Audio Artifacting is coming from the noise canceling trying to eliminate Wind noise and something on the road is making a sound that's in the same range as the Wind noise that is being canceled out. And a nice tip if it's not too hot out you can make up the difference for your helmet if you wear a nice thick scarf around the base of it. it won't eliminate all the excess wind flowing through your helmet but it'd stop you in helmet mic from sounding like you talking in a wind tunnel. However it will get really hot on a warm day.

I have used one of these cameras for a year and agree with the quality of the video. This camera's achillies heel is there is NO low battery warning. You can press record, it will beep and start recording,but there is no low battery signal at all. The camera will just stop recording with no warning. This usn't great for something mounted to a helmet and with a battery indicator so small. Drift could learn a lesson from cycliq - their cameras have a number of beeps on startup to tell you the battery charge status, also warning beep once the battery is low.

What helmet model are you using, that looks way cool with the visor like that?

Hey Matt, what do you think of the Sena 10C Pro? I've been riding with the 10C for about a year and it's fine but could really do with 1080p60 and wonder if it's worth the upgrade.

An update on your recommend action cams would be cool. That's the main thing I used to watch in 2016 for and I've sent a load of people to the channel when they've asked me but now it's a neglected topic :)

Would love to see you review the Sena Momentum Pro when it comes out. Helmet with built in camera and noise canceling speakers.
