2009, 2011 and 2013 all could be argued he had MVP seasons. But to be snubbed in 2011, and especially 2009 speaks to how the MVP award is a popularity contest. 2009 he was a machine. Call it sheer will. The year he was so zoned in he accepted nothing less than perfectionism. The same year he became nationally recognized for his accuracy and his IQ. 2009 to 2013 he was so zoned in also he just had defenses pegged. We can always use what if’s or excuses, but I think we can all agree had the Saints put a solid defense across from Brees we could all argue the NFL “legend” conversation could be very very different. Sean Payton and Drew Brees was the best offensive combination in NFL history in my opinion. They weren’t perfect, but they’re ability to strike fast, really fast, was something to behold. Year after year.

Brees wasn't flashy, but true football fans realize his FUNDAMENTALS (accuracy, reading defenses, top shelf leadership) made him overcome the lack of amazing running ability or super strong arm. It's actually more impressive that Brees had an average arm strength, limited running ability, stood just 6 feet tall, but is 1st or 2nd in all the major stats ever. Just SO rock-solid at the fundamentals.

Not to mention he did all of that without having a pro bowl WR until 2017. The biggest damper on his career is no MVPs (100 percent robbed in 2009, arguably in 2011, and several years overlooked due to other guys having all time great seasons or him having bad teams. Hell he has the most second place finishes of all time in MVP voting with 4.) and only one SB.

TAKE AWAY KAMARA AND THOMAS AND BREES HAS 0 RINGS, 0 PROBOWL SELECTIONS AND 0 RECORDS. THE ONLY REASON BREES WASN'T BENCHED FOR MOST OF HIS CAREER IS BECAUSE THE NFL OWNERS HAVE JIMMY JOHNS STOCK AND DIDN'T WANT TO LOSE MONEY. ALSO BREES FAKED TOE INJURY SO HE COULD SET UP A GO FUND ME AND BAMBOOZLE MONEY FROM HIS FANS SO HE COULD BUY A MOTORIZED CART AND THE HE GOES OUT AND RUNS PEOPLE OVER WITH HIS CART.
