Except that Drew would argument that the quick cadence on reps that Yates used, especially with those poundage, cause micro-tears in things like ligaments that accumulate over time & lead to the actual injury. Just because Yates made a claim about how his injury originated doesn't prove that it originated that way.

As if genetics and “supplements” don’t play the main role. There are many guys out there who will always have bigger arms/shoulders/calves than you even if they didn’t train once in their life. Does that make their training advice superior? Their form? Of course not.

I can prove Drew is 100% wrong in this case. The injury that ended Yates' career was primarily caused by not lowering the weights when he was cutting. Cutting is being in a caloric deficit to loose body fat and he wanted to lift the same weights he lifted when he was in a caloric surplus. He learned when your in a calorie deficit u must lower the weights because your strength is not the same, if you don't than you will get injured Had he simply done that he seems certain his injury would of been avoided

I watched several videos of Yates working out and it seemed like his form was flawless. However, his cadence was quick compared to what Drew Baye advocates. The number of Mr. Olympia wins proves nothing about Drew's point. Oh, the claim is that reps performed quickly can lead to small tears in the ligaments that can accumulate over time and lead to large injuries, especially at weights Yates was using.

His injuries came from hoisting, some pretty heavy poundage while in the cutting phase muscle, being comprised of about 72% water. When you’re getting closer to competition you’re dehydrating just like when fighters are cutting weight for fights and through dehydration that muscle literally becomes more brittle and more susceptible to injury therefore, lowering your weights would be highly recommended closer to contest prep The same with fighters training and fight camp, then cutting all that weight right before the fight makes you much more susceptible to fatigue, injury, and knockout. Look at the lightweight fighters, cutting weight, and then taking head shots very dangerous very similar issues. The man was hoisting some pretty heavy poundage even up to contest time

Most injuries happen because of overtraining. Not properly recovering from bouts of physical exertion over and over again puts a person at a higher risk for injury. You could have perfect form and still get injured from overtraining. Good form can limit your chances of injury but unless you recover properly it won’t matter.

What??????? Dorian always lifted with solid form and technique. The heck this dude is talking about? Furthermore, Dorian is on record saying that his injuries came from training with that intensity and poundage when he was deep in his contest prep when his body fat was real low and his calories were low. And he realized, looking back, that he should of eased up on the intensity since in contest prep with low calories you are not in a building phase. But anybody can go look up his training footage and you see he was always solid with his form and being in control of the weight. Guys like big Ronnie and branch lifted heavy with very loose form on a lot of lifts.

But if Dorian is training to failure doesn't that mean when you start to fail your form is going to break down as well?.. I guess it would depend on one's definition of failure.. stop when your form starts to fail or stop when you completely fail.. I certainly don't know but I do know what he looked like and his achievements. Would he have gotten as big as he did if he stopped when his form broke?? I don't think it can be explained that easy but crap idk lol I do know he was 6 times Olympia tho

Dorian’s form wasn’t bad. The issue is the progressive overload that he was doing along with other bodybuilders. When your on gear you continue to push the envelope continuously until tendons give out through wear and tear. Even people that aren’t on gear that practice good technique if your doing it over years things start to wear down. If you have been lifting for 30 plus years and havent developed joint pain of any kind you are an anomaly.

I mean no disrespect to Drew but him and Jay Vincent preach about this super slow rep speed and mock everyone going faster with there reps even though they look bigger than them, I don't get that

Not true. Not true that his form was bad. And not true that if your form is perfect you are immune to injury. Injury is just like accidents. They happen when it's your fault, and they happen when it's not.

This takes the award for most nonsensical thing I’ve watched today. Train as hard as humanly possible as frequently as you like and you’ll never get injured? Dude has a PhD in bro science.

You are criticizing a 6 time Olympia winner who has actually come out without as many injuries as most...You are talking crap. If you achieved his level then you can comment on this. His form was actually pretty good. Beta male!

i disagree with the old man . going heavy while dehydrated, hyperextension of any muscle is very likely to tear the muscle.
