In this video I do a short review and quick carve test with the Dremel Stylo Plus. Usually I use the Dremel 3000 with a flex shaft for carving but have wanted to give the Dremel Stylo Plus a try, so here it is!
If you use either the Stylo or a 3000/4000 for carving I would love to hear your thoughts on either of them, what you like or dont like.
Heres the current prices of the Dremel tools used in the video along with the links to find them:
Dremel Stylo Plus $49.00: amzn.to/3q16iPY
Dremel 3000 $59.87: amzn.to/2LI6chV
Dremel Flex Shaft $28.99: amzn.to/2M2yvY9
Dremel Dust Blower $3.85: amzn.to/35RIhUl
Dremel 11 Piece Carving Bits $11.99: amzn.to/3rjsGW7

Get the 3000. I made the mistake of getting stylo and very disappointed. Thanks for the video wish it was done 3 months ago. I guess better late then never and hope someone does not make a mistake like I did.

Just wanted to stop by and thank you. I followed you about 8 months ago when I started making flags after watching your how to videos. Happy to say I sold enough and purchased a CNC machine. (So much better instead of hand carving lol). Now I made my money back from my CNC 10x over. Keep posting great content!

That is so awesome to hear man and that makes me so happy to hear that my videos are of some help! Thank you so much for taking the time to share that with me i really appreciate it. Keep grindin it out man! 👊🏼 haha the cnc would definitely be a nice tool to have around! My hand gets so cramped up so easily i could definitely see the benefits of that! Again, thank you and God Bless🙏🏼🇺🇸

CNC is good from a business perspective but hand carving is where the skill and enjoyment/fulfillment is at.

Nice review! I've seen this method and the chisel method for carving the stars. I opted for using a chip carving knife and carving the stars by hand. I'll be finishing my first flag this week. Thanks for the great videos!

After starting some carving, I started thinking of ways to make a foot petal controlled air plowing attachment for my compressor to keep the dust away from my carving. Then I saw your dust blower attachment which I didn't know existed. Best $4 spent, thanks! Ordered pistons for my own flag cabinet as well. Keep up the good work. Subscribed.

@@MaxF01 Ok, lesson learned: don't listen to a Lowes employee. I should have known better but was advised against MDF. Used plywood instead and the different textures in the wood caused the paint to bleed under the tape. Overall for a first try, I'm happy about it. I'll do the next in MDF. Its not something I would hang in my living room but for my garage or barn it will fit right in. Question: How do you finish your edges? Wrap the design around the sides or do a solid color on all 4 sides? Thanks again for the inspiration.

I have the 3000 and was considering getting the attachment. I just bought the stylo+ thinking it was the adapter because it’s been a while since the last time I’ve viewed it. I was looking for a review video and a comparison with the adapter. Your video is the second review I clicked on and it was what I was seeking. I don’t plan on using often so the light weight, reduced price and small cable seems like it will work for my needs so I plan on keeping it. Thanks for the information and review.

Kinda off topic but figured I'd ask on a newer video. I've tried with a flex shaft, stylo and cutting attachment so like a router but for the life of me cannot make clean stars with straight lines. Any advice or tips?

  • @MaxF01

I think the best advice i can give about how i do mine is i am always moving the position of my hand so that all i have to do is sorta pivot it back and forth, you can kinda see it in the video, and then i also make sure i do it kinda fast. If i tried to do it slow i think it would be a lot harder to control it when its going through the harder spots and softer spots but going over it lightly and fast back and forth i think that helps to keep it straight. And then most of the time I’ll continue the lines all the way across each star and that will help a little to get it straight. Im sorry i dont have anything better and i really hope this helps at least a little! Let me know if you have any further questions and good luck!
