Dream Reef Tank - Cabinetry and WATER!
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
It's been a long time coming, but the Dream Reef Tank finally has its cabinetry and therefore, I was able to fill this sucker with salt water.
This video will cover the detail in the beautiful custom made cabinetry made by the kitchen design centre (thekitchendesigncentre.com.au/)
Shout out if you have any questions and as always, be sure to subscribe to the channel if you have not done so already!

Thanks Sam for the link… it was the KEKU clips I was referring to. I thought you were clipping directly into the 80/20 slot somehow, but now I see those clips are affixed to your back inside right hand side panel and likely a similar strip on the left like you have done for the hinged doors.

Congrats! Absolutely one of the best setups I’ve seen. Incredible job! Re the Blum Aventos and corrosion..ya hopefully reducing humidity will do the trick. In my experience so far with canopy door lifters I’ve only seen corrosion due to electrolysis caused from dissimilar metal components touching combined w/humidity. I suppose another level of corrosion protection could be spraying the components with a silicone based coating of some kind (?). So Awesome...What a sweet setup!!! 👏👏👏 Cheers 🍻

Thanks for watching Daniel, be keen to see your cabinetry once done. Yes, I thought it was a steal, but you know, the internet and all, you get a lot of "experts" and I've had my share of people telling me that I'm getting ripped off! At the end of the day, you get what you pay for and this is a stunning bit of cabinetry!
@hatrik2910
3 жыл бұрын
@@ParkersReef totally agree, you get what you pay for. Yep, sure, you could get a chipboard cabinet for half the price but how long's that going to last!? And plastic laminate looks nowhere near as nice as a solid matte finish kitchen bench top-esque material.
Looks great Sam - I think I would still cover the stainless fittings with silicone grease or similar as salt will rust even the highest grade stainless given time.👍

Nice video, looking great! Coming along really well. Give some consideration to moisture in the cabinet and the effect on the hinges, I’ve had multiple tank hinges rust, even high end ones. @ParkersReef
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks John! Glad you are enjoying the content :) Yes, great question! I have a small ventilation fan in the ceiling above the tank canopy. Despite being very small, it is fairly oversized for the canopy space and keeps everything in there free of moisture very nicely
Dude that’s awesome setup. If I ever did something like that idk if I would want it to look that clean or spend the money on a larger tank tho.

Amazing job. I do have one question: how are the two 90 degree panels attached (the long thin panels that wrap around the corner between the outer doors and the side panels)?
@ParkersReef
3 жыл бұрын
They are secured internally, I assume by dowels and glue? Not actually sure as there is nothing visible externally on the panel, just appears as one piece. Or if you mean how are they attached to the frame, they are held on with keku clips :)
Looks amazing 😍. Can you do a video on how sump actually working i saw the video you showing the sumo but with water running looks so interesting. On the side cupboard if you move it to the right to close the gap how would the door open?!?
@ParkersReef

Yeah when the cupboard extends across, it will just have enough clearance to open :) Sump will be covered a little more in future, but be sure to check out the video where I explain how it all works. Now that it is full of water, the flow is much less noticeable :P

I do place corals into a frag tank for observation for a week or so before putting into the main display. Other than that, nothing with inverts and with fish - I only buy fish that are healthy and pest free from my lfs. Sometimes they will QT a fish for me if necessary, but often not.

I think its possibly the most gorgeous stand I've seen, while remaining extremely usable. The motorized canopy is incredible. The stand seems quite tall or am I seeing things? I personally like taller stands and think all the commercial ones are too short. How tall is it? Seems 40"+? Also, mind sharing what its made of? Other than the aluminum frame, which is obvious. Are the panels plywood or something else, and what is the finish? I suspect laminate but not 100% sure.
